PayPal cut ties with anti-Semitic groups. Well… with some of them

5

After Charlottesville, PayPal decided to cut ties with white supremacists and neo-nazis.

They closed Richard Spencer’s policy institute, (1), Altright.com and the Daily Stormer (2) Paypal accounts.

Paypal’s Franz Paasche published a communique (3) explaining that the company “work to ensure that our services are not used to accept payments or donations for activities that promote hate, violence or racial intolerance.”

What do you think? As a jew, I am happy that they cut ties with antisemitic groups! But nothing is black or white. As a First amendment heavy and happy user and supporter, I’m concerned. And as a conservative, PayPal being in a monopolistic position that let them decide who is a hate group and who is not doesn’t sit right with me.

Because PayPal actually do decide who is hate group and who is not.

For years now I try to convince PayPal to close BDS websites accounts in Europe. Sometimes I succeed (as with BDS France), sometimes I fail to convince them to do so.

PayPal closes accounts that are deemed racists and anti-semitic on moral ground, while they close their eyes to others that are in no way less anti-semitic, even when they clearly break the French law where Boycott is illegal.

As a jew, I am not happy when they don’t agree to close an anti-semitic BDS account. And because France’s law prohibits Boycott, I have no First Amendment conflicting second thought.

I don’t have hard evidence to prove it, but I believe that PayPal is a good company. With good intentions and good morality. And sometimes, they have difficult choices to make. And it depends which department, which people, which country make the decision.

Unfortunately, all this seem to boil down to the same left leaning political tool: what matters is not the crime but who commits the crime, and what political benefit the left machine can gain from denouncing it.

It looks a hell like the Palestinian syndrome:

  • Syrians kills 500 Palestinians? Who cares! The left has nothing to gain by endorsing this Palestinian cause thus they blatantly ignore it.
  • Israelis kills ONE palestinian: international outrage erupt, Human right NGO’s ask for a UN inquiry commission, and a Security Council condemns Israel. By attacking the “colonialist Zionist entity”, the pro-islamic left can advance its agenda for the destruction of the west with the help of their islamic friends.

If Donald Trump had to open a PayPal account, I’m sure PayPal would reject him. And he is a good man and a beautiful soul. But they don’t like his policy.

The Truth Must be Told

Your contribution supports independent journalism

Please take a moment to consider this. Now, more than ever, people are reading Geller Report for news they won't get anywhere else. But advertising revenues have all but disappeared. Google Adsense is the online advertising monopoly and they have banned us. Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have blocked and shadow-banned our accounts. But we won't put up a paywall. Because never has the free world needed independent journalism more.

Everyone who reads our reporting knows the Geller Report covers the news the media won't. We cannot do our ground-breaking report without your support. We must continue to report on the global jihad and the left's war on freedom. Our readers’ contributions make that possible.

Geller Report's independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our work is critical in the fight for freedom and because it is your fight, too.

Please contribute to our ground-breaking work here.
