Trump Effect: Other Countries Behaving Less Aggressively Since White House Changed Hands

17

President Donald Trump’s tough talk is apparently having an effect on the world, quieting aggressive nations and calming stormy rhetoric, and the shift in tone is being particularly felt in the trade and economic sectors.

That’s according to a new report from the London-based Centre for Economic Policy Research.

The world isn’t nearly facing the same intense levels of turmoil under President Donald Trump than under the previous administration, and nowhere else is this new calm resonating as well as on the global financial stage.

In its Global Trade Alert, researchers say G20 countries have softened a bit on their self-protectionary measures.

Story continues below advertisement

The Daily Caller News Foundation has the specifics:

America’s trading partners have imposed fewer tariffs, duties and limits on U.S. imports since Trump’s election, probably fearing retaliation from the Trump administration …

The report comes a week before Trump and other G20 nations meet for a conference in Hamburg, Germany. The authors of the report argue that since the G20 has failed to curb protectionist trade practices among its member states, Trump has plenty of ammunition to attack multilateral trade deals and promote U.S. protectionism.

“The G20 countries that had hit U.S. interests more often before President Trump was elected are the very G20 countries that have cut back on protectionism the most in 2017,” Simon Evenett, professor of economics at St. Gallen University in Switzerland and one of the authors of the report, told CNN Money.

“Why should [they] do that unless they feared being singled out for retaliation? These heavy users of protectionism may be signaling that they have gotten the message from the Trump Administration in Washington,” Evenett added.

The G20’s efforts to promote free trade and prevent countries from taking protectionist stances simply haven’t worked. “President Trump is to trade relations what Uber is to licensed taxis: a disruptive, brash force against which rules and conventional practices pale,” the report says.

The decrease in anti-free trade protectionism by G20 countries has benefitted the entire group, not just the U.S. The countries that usually engage in protectionism have responded to “Trump’s shock and awe on trade by resorting to less protectionism outright and, in particular, to much fewer measures that harm US commercial interests.”

Great news, right?

There’s still a danger that needs to be kept in mind, however, the report authors warn.

Again, from the DCNF:

The danger, according to the report, is that the U.S. will advance its own protectionist policies and damage the global trading economy, and that the G20’s “beggar-thy-neighbor acts will be used as a pretext for all manner of protectionist American initiatives.”

“The United States made some of the worst Trade Deals in world history. Why should we continue these deals with countries that do not help us?,” Trump tweeted Wednesday before departing to Europe to meet with the G20 leaders.

The EU just announced a free trade agreement with Japan, at long last, an obvious anti-Trump, anti-Brexit tactic. But even so, they hedged it so much, that it will take 15 years to take effect 🙂

Unless America stops buying Goods from china and feedings its $900 Billion trade surplus they will continue to build their military and remain threat to USA while grabbing land and be a menace to its Neighbours.

Its better to have free trade with friendly countries like phillipines, thailand, india, Sri Lanka, vietnam (all non muslim majority Low cost countries) than from china.

Speak loudly and carry a big stick, one must concern with some people using terms they understand. with muslims, brute force and ignorance are the only communication tool they understand and accept.
““The United States made some of the worst Trade Deals in world history. Why should we continue these deals with countries that do not help us?,” Trump tweeted Wednesday before departing to Europe to meet with the G20 leaders”. Under o’bimbo and his umma of incompetent democrats there were countless bad deals, not to mention outright stupid ones made. Why o’bama is not in jail is beyond comprehension.
Look at these numbers, America was run by inexperienced incompetent under o’bimbo.

3. Check the last set of statistics!! The percentage of each past president’s cabinet who had worked in the private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet. You know what the private
business sector is: A real-life business not a government job
Here are the percentages:
38% T. Roosevelt
40% Taft
52% Wilson
49% Harding
48% Coolidge
42% Hoover
50% F. D. Roosevelt
50% Truman
57% Eisenhower
30% Kennedy
47% Johnson
53% Nixon
42% Ford
32% Carter
56% Reagan
51% GH Bush
39% Clinton
55% GW Bush

8% Obama

This helps explain the bias, if not the incompetence, of the last administration: ONLY 8% of them have that’s right! Only eight percent – the least, by far, of the last 19 presidents! And these people tried to tell our corporations how to run their businesses? How could Obama,

president of a major nation and society, the one with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business when he’s never worked for one? Or about jobs when he has never really had one? And, when it’s the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers? They’ve spent most of their time in academia, government, and/or non-profit jobs or as “community organizers.”

It is time to start planing for the war to retake western europe from the islamic colonization, which will result in massive ethnic cleansing of indigenous western european peoples. That is how islam works, first they invade, control then consume and destroy.

Whatever the attitude of foreign leaders, you can bet your ass it is far different from that reflected in those diplomatic cables publicized by Wikileaks where Obhammud was being laughed at behind his back and snubbed publicly, not being taken seriously in other lands as any sort of world leader might be.

America now has an American leader. A leader who loves this country. A leader concerned with building up and protecting this country. The complete opposite of Barrack Hussein Obama.

When Japan enforced its seclusionist policy, it had one of the most prosperous eras in its history. i am not saying we should go quite that far, but it would not hurt us to pull back, way back and concentrate on America’s products and commerce.
