Congress Could Halt Spy Authorization Over Obama Aides’ Anti-Trump Leaks
Pressure mounts to investigate top Obama aides Rhodes, Rice, Power, and others

Key lawmakers are threatening to cancel the authorization of sensitive U.S. spy operations until congressional leaders investigate efforts by former top Obama administration officials to leak highly classified national security information in what many believe was a targeted campaign to undermine the Trump administration, according to senior congressional sources familiar with the situation.
Key Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee are pressuring Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R., Va.) to investigate former senior Obama administration officials believed to be responsible for these anti-Trump leaks, including former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and National Security Council official Ben Rhodes, according to sources who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon about mounting frustration over Congress’s failure to adequately investigate these leaks.
Lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee are prepared to halt key spy operations related to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, until Congress performs a full investigation into how damaging classified surveillance information targeting the Trump campaign and administration officials was leaked to the press.
The House Intelligence Committee is engaged in a separate but related probe into efforts by Obama officials to “unmask,” or formally identify individuals named in classified intelligence community reports related to Trump and his presidential transition team. That investigation is currently focussed on Power, Rice, and former CIA Director John Brennan.
Sources in the Trump administration and Congress believe the classified intelligence information was “weaponized” and later leaked to the press in order to handicap the Trump administration’s credibility and national security priorities. Still, senior Republican members of Congress do not feel that enough is being done to hold those responsible for the leaks accountable.
By threatening to withhold the reauthorization of section 702 of the FISA Act—which permits the U.S. intelligence community to intercept communications outside of America—lawmakers believe they can force a thorough investigation into these Obama aides, who are suspected of exploiting FISA laws to gather and later leak sensitive intelligence damaging to Trump allies.
Congress is “not going to reauthorize a program if no one is held accountable for breaking the law,” said one senior congressional source familiar with the situation. “No one is being held accountable and Congress has done no oversight.”
Goodlatte is said to have initially been “really taken aback” by the stiff opposition to reauthorizing section 702, but is now making moves to examine the former administration’s role in classified leaks and potential opportunities to question these officials.
Republican members on the committee are said to be “all united” in their desire to investigate former Obama officials such as Rhodes, Rice, and Power, sources said.
These lawmakers “want answers on these Obama officials in order to continue [spy] authorizations they may have abused,” one congressional source said. “The members in the conference and these committees have reached a boiling point.”
Senior Trump administration officials, as well as those in Congress, have named former Obama administration officials such as Rice and Rhodes as key suspects in the dissemination of classified national security information.

We all saw what happened with Eric Kantor and Kelly Ayotte who are looking for more constructive ways to spend their ample spare time out of office.

No, it is you who is lying like his feet stink. Obama never provided a genuine birth certificate. What he eventually provided did not pass forensic scrutiny. In Canada my and my family’s passports where destroyed in a house fire. I went to see the South African consulate and in about 3 weeks all of us had new passports and birth certificates, yet for months Obama couldn’t find a birth certificate. When he did it was like him, a wretched fraud. The man is a pathological liar and a Muslim lover who consorted in the White House with the world’s premier Islamic terror group, the Muslim Brotherhood. He should be shot or, preferably, tied up and run over by a steam roller.

Obama really was born in Hawaii, as shown by his HAWAII birth certificate and the confirmation of the officials of both parties in Hawaii and the Index Data file and the birth notices sent to the Hawaii newspapers in 1961 (and only the DOH could send birth notices to that section of the newspapers and it only did so for births in Hawaii).
And there isn’t even proof that Obama’s mother HAD A PASSPORT in 1961, and very very few 18-year-olds did at the time. And EXTREMELY few women traveled abroad during the last few months of pregnancy at the time due to the risk of stillbirths. Yet BOTH of those highly unlikely things would have had to have happened AND the officials of BOTH parties lied AND the Index Data and the birth notices (on microfilm rolls in two libraries) would have had to have been forged for Obama to have been born in a foreign country and not in HAWAII.
Oh, and birther sites LIED when they said that Obama’s Kenyan grandmother said that he was born in Kenya. She really said that he was born IN HAWAII in three interviews of which birther sites showed their readers only part of one, carefully cutting off the tape recordings on their sites just before she was asked where he was born and replied: “In Hawaii, where his father was studying at the time.” (Now I wonder why a birther site would do that?)And, BTW, the Kenyan government has said that it checked and Obama certainly was not born in Kenya (which birther sites did not show their readers either.)

Many people today seem to have little if any confidence that Congress will investigate those leaking thoroughly, and they may be right. However, the DOJ is beginning to look like a horse of a different color under Sessions. He has been working hard to uncover and prosecute those leaking, but has not publicized his efforts. A complete purge of Obama holdovers may also occur in the entire Executive Branch. Things may start to turn!
