Just an Ordinary Day: British Museum Evacuated After ‘Loud Explosion’ From Neighborhood

10

Hundreds of people were hastily evacuated from the British Museum after police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle, and shortly after, loud explosions sounded from a nearby neighborhood.

The explosion, turns out, was a controlled incident.

But the evacuation underscores what’s quickly becoming commonplace in a city once known as a hotbed for tourist activity: that terrorism in the streets is real.

The area was the scene of a horrific bombing in July 7, 2005, that left 52 dead and more than 700 injured.

Russell Square was the site of a horrific bombing in July of 2005 that left 52 dead and more than 700 injured.

Britain’s also seen its share of other terror attacks in recent years.

In June of 2007, two unexploded car bombgs were found in separate cars in London.

In May of 2013, a British Army soldier, Fusilier Drummer Lee Rigby, was attacked and killed in the streets by two Islamic extremists.

In October of 2016, two commuters found a backback in the subway station that contained wires and what looked like an alarm clock. A controlled explosion was carried out, and nobody was injured.

That’s just a sampling of what’s becoming an ordinary threat to those living in the United Kingdom.

The Express has more about this past week’s incident:

Photos taken at the scene show a park area sealed off by police, with thousands of visitors gathered outside the museum.

Shocked social media users reported hearing an explosion as they were evacuated.

One said on Twitter: “A loud bang followed by sirens…weve just been told that there’s been an incident and we need to leave the building.”

Another said: “Building on right is my office. Could see police cordons then was asked to vacate office.”

Another said: “Work place evacuated due to suspect package near Russell Square. Heard what I assume was a controlled explosion.”

A fourth said: “Something kicking off at russell square – police tape everywhere around some coaches.”

The British Museum said: “The Museum is evacuated temporarily due to a security concern nearby. We apologise and will update when we can.”

The Met Police told Express.co.uk the security alert was as a result of an unattended vehicle.

They said the situation had been “stood down” and cordons that were in place have been removed.

One witness at the scene has sainormality has resumed”.

The rush-hour incident caused travel chaos with at least one road, Montague Place, closed due to the evacuation.

Brits deserve this for electing pro-islam Left/liberal Loons.

Its like all rights and freedom are to be given to Muslims and non-muslims do not have any rights as dhimmis ! And Left/liberal pro-jihadi loons allow it !

Infidels do not even have right to protest against crimes committed by Muslims . If they dare try it they get harassed, jailed or killed http://bit.ly/2r6F3cp

Its just used to shorten link. At times I found long links get truncated and do not open in disqus comments.

wrong to assume all bit.ly links are spam.

Unfortunately, hackers use bit;ly links in emails to send people to malicious websites. Our corporate email system automatically blocks any bit.ly links because of the ransomware that people have gotten.

Do you own the website that you are linking to?

get a good security system to warn and block malicious websites.

And don’t download email attachment that have executable files.
pdf , gif , jpg files are ok.

do the above to avoid ransomeware.

link shortners are not the problem.

Well, end users being end users, will click on anything. I doubt our IT policy will change and we warn people not to click on any shortened links.

According to one security firm, 97% of bit.ly links are malicious:

Russell Square is where American tourist Darlene Horton was stabbed to death last August in a random jihad attack. The teenage knifeman, a Somali muslim previously living in Norway, wore a “crazed smile” and was muttering “Allah, Allah, Allah”. He had a pamphlet entitled “Fortress of the Muslim” in his pocket. This being Britain, the judge was told that these two details were “not considered relevant to the attack”.

The court was told that Bulhan was having “an acute episode of paranoid schizophrenia at the time”.
