The left, when it speaks, just can’t keep on the side of class it seems.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, New York Democrat, took to a public stage just recently to rip into President Donald Trump for failing to keep his political policies.
Only instead of just stating her view, she undercut it with cursing.
“Has [Trump] kept his promises? No. F– no,” the senator said, before a Personal Democracy Forum crowd.
She’s just the latest on the left to fail to curtail her speech during public addresses.
The outgoing California Democratic Party chairman, John Burton, just flipped his middle finger before a crowd of hundreds, delivering a raucous “F– Donald Trump” scream at the same time. Waiting in the background for him to finish his speech was none other than House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, caught on camera smiling and nodding, apparently in approval at Burton’s show of disrespect.
But this is how the left thinks: Going classless in public is the way to win votes.
Remember Joe Biden, vice president, whispering in the ear of Barack Obama at the podium that his passage of Obamacare was a “f-ing big deal?”
There are websites right now devoted to “F– Donald Trump” gear, selling hats and t-shirts with the tasteless slogan. There are also Twitter and Facebook pages touting the same phrase.
Can you imagine the outcry from the media if such sprung under Barack Obama?
If some Republican took to public stage to scream, “F– Obama?”
It was bad enough when Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted at Obama “You lie,” during the president’s 2009 address.
Had Wilson shouted “f– you, Obama,” or something similar to what those on the left yell publicly about Trump, he probably would’ve been drummed from the building.
Well, this is what the left had to say about Gillibrand’s outburst, on CNN, as Newser noted:
“‘I think it’s appropriate for a senator to be exactly who they are—Kirsten is going to continue to be exactly who she is and always has been.’
“Gillibrand, though, isn’t the only politician swearing publicly, and a piece in Politico that rounds up other examples suggests it might be an asset in an ‘age of Trumpian combativeness.’
“CNN’s piece points out that Gillibrand is mentioned as a Democratic presidential candidate, but her spokesperson dismissed the idea that she’s trying to shape her public image toward that end. The senator herself has fended off the speculation.”
