Israel’s lawmakers passed a bill that would punish the Palestinian Authority’s bottom financial line for paying out “terror salaries” to those families who are tied to the murders of Israeli citizens.
The bill, introduced by Ministerial Committee member Elazar Stern, basically deducts money from the stipend the PA receives to the same amount it’s found the organization gives to families of terrorists in Israel’s prisons.
Arutz Sheva has the news:
“The Ministerial Committee for Legislation approved Sunday a bill proposed by MK Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) to deduct sums equal the stipends the Palestinian Authority pays to terrorists in Israeli prisons and payments made to terrorists’ families, deducting them from the tax funds which Israel transfers to the PA.
“The proposal was approved despite the opposition of the Attorney General and the original intention to postpone the discussion of the proposal by one week.
“The amount of money the terrorists receive is proportional to the length of their prison sentence, resulting in the perpetrators of the deadliest terrorist attacks receiving the highest “salaries” from the PA.”
Lawmakers say the bill is crucial to ending the practice of basically giving money to terrorists.
Again, from Arutz Sheva:
“Israel will deduct the terrorists’ salaries from taxes transferred each year to the PA, since paying terrorists is a violation of the Oslo Accords.
“The proposal was initiated by Yesh Atid members Elazar Stern, Yaakov Perry, and Mickey Levy. …
“‘We have to put an end to the fact that terrorists and their families recive payment for murdering Israelis,’ Stern said. ‘It cannot be that terrorists receive salaries for murdering Jews. THe State must do everything it can to fight terror.’
“‘This law is critical to Israel’s national security.
“‘The payments which the PA transfers to the terrorists are not just incitement — they are an incentive to commit terror attacks. The PA is encouraging Arabs to murder Jews.'”
