EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Durbin’s Office Won’t Release Emails With GOP Baseball Shooter
By: Justin CarusoDemocratic Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin’s office will not release reported email correspondence with anti-GOP shooter James Hodgkinson.
An Associated Press report says, “Hodgkinson also visited the office of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose campaign he had worked on as a volunteer, and was in email contact with the two Democratic senators from his home state.”
The “two Democratic senators from his home state” of Illinois would presumably be Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth.
When The Daily Caller reached out to Sen. Durbin’s office, we received this comment, “Mr. Hodgkinson contacted our office to state his opinion on a variety of legislation over the years. Those emails were all given to USCP and are part of the current investigation.”
When TheDC asked for more details, or whether they planned to publicly release the emails Hodgkinson sent, no response was received.
TheDC also repeatedly contacted Sen. Duckworth’s office looking for a comment or a release of the emails, but received no response.

We can only conclude that Durbin must be to some degree complicit in the crime.
No surprise. At this point it’s pretty obvious that violence is a fundamental part of liberalism, and Durbin is VERY liberal.

Complicit how? What possibly could Durbin have done, short of a direct order, to be complicit? As for releasing the E-mails, let a prosecutor get a search warrant for them first. This is merely a witch hunt otherwise.

Right now he should be brought up on charges for obstructing justice. A warrant should be issued for his emails. It would seem that Mr. Durbin doesn’t care about his colleagues else he would do everything possible to aid in the investigation.

In general practice, you refer to counsel- and then you hand pretty much everything over unless you’ve got…issues. You don’t “refuse” unless you’re about to need to Plead The Fifth.
Generally, you get a lawyer to help make sure you’re not incriminating yourself elsewhere and you CLEAR YOURSELF OF INVOLVEMENT with the incident in question.

We don’t know that he didn’t forward the emails to law enforcement, assuming the emails were in any way threatening. If James Hodgkinson was just backslapping his leftwing congress critter for supporting or opposing some piece of legislation, then there would have been little cause for concern. I think the FBI should subpoenta the emails anyway,just to make certain there was no forewarning, but I’d be surprised if Hodgkinson had telegraphed his intentions to Durbin.

Done what? If there was something they could have done, the Capitol Police will say so once the investigation is finished (the emails are currently in the custody of the police).

Tend to think most on this particular thread haven’t read the whole thing….this happens once in a while to myself….don’t always read the whole article and if I have a question with what folks are saying, I go back and finish reading. Usually answers my question if I do. I didn’t understand that the the USCP meant the Capitol Police until you said so.

you don’t think that when its even mentioned that Trump did “whatever” — so often (though maybe not you) it’s impeach the guy simply because someone “thinks” he may have done something or “makes up” (false news) that he has done something.
Obviously he did receive e-mails and if there was even a HINT of this guy thinking of shooting anyone, Durbin should have reported it! Remember, even if you’re in the car & have done nothing and the bank robber jumps back into the car and it takes off–you are complicit–automatically. At least until PROVEN otherwise.
Heaven forbid that anyone whispered they’d shoot at Durbin — they’d be in jail quicker than one can bat an eye!

The only way that could happen is if we call to kill people. Which we’re not, Laura. Big, deep, fundamental difference. I want criminals brought to JUSTICE, without mincing around worrying about, “pushing someone over the edge”.
If you don’t start holding people accountable, quite a bit worse than some nutball shooting up Congressmen will likely happen and it won’t be pretty. We need to defuse this, yes- but shying away from things that’ll do that isn’t the answer in the slightest.

The most obvious red flag about the content of those emails is that Durbin did not even use them to score cheap political points on gun control or some other self-serving leftist topic. Whether surrendered voluntarily or not we will never know, but the dodge about their being turned over to the Capital Police as part of an ongoing investigation is very convenient indeed.
