On April 21, just a few hours after the Champs Elysee terror attack took place, anti-capitalist presidential candidate Philippe Poutou, a kind of French Bernie Sanders, said on France Television channel 2: “If Police wouldn’t carry guns, maybe these people wouldn’t target them”.
That day, one policeman died and two were severely wounded. When Poutou left the television set, angry Policemen shouted at him: “we need our weapons, fucker, scum bag.”
À la sortie du débat de France 2, Philippe Poutou pris à partie par des policiers en uniforme : “On a besoin de nos armes, enculé, ordure !”

According to the most recent poll, Front national candidate Marine Le Pen (Far right on immigration, far left on economy and big government) is credited with 23% of the vote on Sunday first round of Presidential election.
By contrast, 51% of the Gendarmerie (Military branch of The French police) are planning to vote for her on Sunday – according to an Ifop Poll released last April.
In the same Poll, 16.5% of the Gendarmes say they will be voting for Obama’s cherry pick Emmanuel Macron. (American media wrongly consider him as Center Left but for many, including me, who follows the election closely, he is Francois Hollande and the Socialist party’s secret weapon).
Unsurprisingly, the most important issue for French security services heading into the polls is security.
In France, 230 people died as the result of muslim terrorist attacks, and the fight against terrorism is not going as well as they would expect. France has struggled to get to grips with an appalling number of ISIS attacks, that includes the Toulouse Jewish school in 2012, the Bataclan massacre, the Nice truck ramping attack, the offices of Charlie Hebdo, the Kosher deli, and the beheading of a Priest in his church and of a small factory’s CEO.
Marine Le Pen has made strong commitments to law and order in her program, including pledges to provide 15,000 more police officers, deporting foreign criminals and closing extremist mosques, whilst implementing strong border controls.
To have such overwhelming support from the French security services speaks volume as to what they think needs to be done to defend France against radical Islamic terrorism.
Unfortunately, Karim Cheurfi, last thursday Champs Elysee attacker was French, and he was a moderate muslim. For that, Le Pen has no solution. Nor do we.
