Long after the Cold War has ended, the American Left — after ignoring, denying and downplaying the Soviet threat, and ridiculing those who called attention to it — has fastened upon Russia as its all-purpose bogeyman.

FBI’s Russian-influence probe includes a look at far-right news sites
Federal investigators are examining whether far-right news sites played any role last year in a Russian cyber operation that dramatically widened the reach of news stories — some fictional — that favored Donald Trump’s presidential bid, two people familiar with the inquiry say.
Operatives for Russia appear to have strategically timed the computer commands, known as “bots,” to blitz social media with links to the pro-Trump stories at times when the billionaire businessman was on the defensive in his race against Democrat Hillary Clinton, these sources said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is accused by the FBI of ordering a campaign intended to influence the U.S. election. Mikhail Klimentyev APThe bots’ end products were largely millions of Twitter and Facebook posts carrying links to stories on conservative internet sites such as Breitbart News and InfoWars, as well as on the Kremlin-backed RT News and Sputnik News, the sources said. Some of the stories were false or mixed fact and fiction, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the bot attacks are part of an FBI-led investigation into a multifaceted Russian operation to influence last year’s elections.
Investigators examining the bot attacks are exploring whether the far-right news operations took any actions to assist Russia’s operatives. Their participation, however, wasn’t necessary for the bots to amplify their news through Twitter and Facebook.
The investigation of the bot-engineered traffic, which appears to be in its early stages, is being driven by the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division, whose inquiries rarely result in criminal charges and whose main task has been to reconstruct the nature of the Kremlin’s cyber attack and determine ways to prevent another.
An FBI spokesman declined to comment on the inquiry into the use of bots.Russia-generated bots are one piece of a cyber puzzle that counterintelligence agents have sought to solve for nearly a year to determine the extent of the Moscow government’s electronic broadside.
“This may be one of the most highly impactful information operations in the history of intelligence,” said one former U.S. intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
Bureau director James Comey confirmed Monday at a House Intelligence Committee hearing what long has been reported: t`hat the FBI is investigating possible links between individuals in the Trump presidential campaign and the Russian campaign to influence the election and whether there was any coordination between the two.
The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, one of multiple congressional panels examining Russia’s intervention, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that there was “circumstantial evidence of collusion.” There also is “direct evidence . . . of deception, and that’s where we begin the investigation,” said Rep. Adam Schiff of California.
U.S. intelligence agencies charged in January that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered the offensive, in which cyber operatives also hacked tens of thousands of emails from Democratic National Committee staff, Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta and other Democrats.
A top priority of investigators is to determine who delivered those hacked emails to WikiLeaks, a London-based transparency site that published them online, the sources said. News stories about the emails embarrassed Clinton at key points in the campaign. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has denied that the Russian government was the source of the email dump.
As for the bots, they carried links not only to news stories but also to Democratic emails posted on WikiLeaks, especially those hacked from Podesta and made public in October, said Philip Howard, a professor at the Oxford University Internet Institute who has researched the bot attacks.
Howard said that, as an example, bots had spread links to fictional stories that accused Clinton of involvement in running a child-sex ring in the basement of a Washington pizza parlor. The posts inspired a North Carolina man to drive to Washington and fire an assault weapon in the restaurant, according to police reports.

It is called using one stone to hit two crows. Since there is absolutely no evidence that “Russians did it,” so now maybe “right-wing” did it (help to elect Trump). Of course it did! By the way, Zbigniew Brzezinski, anti-semitic architect of policy for Carter, was not just an anti-communist, but predominantly anti-RUSSIAN. Russians are threat to them because they don’t yield to their “globalist and new world order” agenda.

I have no idea about what this fellow is saying. The Trump press was uniformly negative. What I have noticed is the famous Hilbots are back in action. These are commenters on such sites as the Daily Mail, The Hill, and Politico that make a comment critical of Trump and suddenly receive hundreds of up arrows, while comments that approve of Trump receive down arrows where allowed. The behavior is actually easy to spot and is paid for by the Hillary campaign, according to the O’Keefe video.

The idea that Putin would prefer Trump over Hillary is beyond laughable. I don’t believe a word Comey says. He lost all credibility when he refused to recommend Hillary be prosecuted after finding tons of evidence that she committed multiple felonies.

Who plays Deep Throat?), Trump was colluding with Russia to “influence the election” — because, again, remember, Putin is just dying for the US to have more, better nukes and an overall military build-up and maybe even re-start manufacturing our own parts in the USA. Also, Putin just couldn’t wait to pass up the opportunity to do more business with the man who probably would have become Hillary’s Secretary of State, John Podesta, Clinton-Obama veteran, Hillary’s campaign manager, #Pizzagate POI.
Fun fact: Did you know that two months after Podesta joined the executive board of a small energy company named Joule in 2011, Putin’s Rusnano invested 1 billion rubles ($35 million) in the company? And that Podesta came into 75,000 shares of common stock? Even Peter Schweizer didn’t know that last bit until just a few weeks before the 2016 election.
But, phew, what a relief! There are no Obama-Clinton-Podesta ties to Russia!
Finally, there is the separate issue of how Russia supposedly and very sneakily “influenced” the US election in the first place — through “hacking” and releasing through Wikileaks those tens of thousands of actual emails detailing the sickening corruption and pay-for-play malfeasance of the Clinton machine — masses and masses of UNCONTESTED facts about ClintonWorld, including, of course, that tidbit about John Podesta’s 75,000 shares in Joule, heavily invested in by Rusano, a tech entiity which has been described, so touchingly, as “Putin’s child.”
Of course, the real tip-off is that Kremlin disinformation campaigns always disseminate FACTS!

The FBI is being headed up by a rat obama appointee. POS comey has proven to be a political operative and NOT a friend of the Constitution and lying is his natural operating mode. The FBI has proven to be as leaky as a sieve. During the Clinton regime, the FBI murdered all sorts of American citizens, children included. When I worked for a cellular company during that time, Clinton ordered cellular companies to install a line that the feds could call up and listen to all the calls anytime they wanted. Knowing what an anti-American POS rat obama is, I am sure the FBI was corrupted under rat obama and POS comey. Rat obama filled the FBI full of anti-American weasels and needs to be cleaned out, disinfected and re-staffed with real Americans. comey is the king of the lying weasels. He has obviously made no contact with Geller or Spencer (who could enlighten him somewhat) One positive comment from Trump about either of these two would increase the readership 100 or even 500 fold. The worst thing is that the present state of F.B.I. and C.I.A. is apparently so corrupt that all of us are in danger. That is an unavoidable reaction.

Anyone who would use “password” for an actual password on their email account, as did Podesta, needs their examined for one thing. A kid in his mom’s basement with too much time on his hands could have hacked such a loose security arrangement.

1. Russia is not a communist country, and is no longer the ideological enemy of the United States that the Soviet Union was.
2. Russia assisted the Right in defeating Hillary Clinton.

Anyone whose looked into this specific piece of political kabuki theater, knows there is a civil war within the FBI, CIA, NSA and DIA. I think it obvious at this point that not only did Russia have absolutely nothing to do with our election results; they also had no reason to ‘want’ DjT as POTUS and could have enjoyed ramrodding their own agenda down HRC’s throat if she became president.
