Texas: Muslim teen blames his “BOMB HOAX” on “islamophobia,” Obama invites him to White House

283

A Muslim teen bought a strange ticking device to his high school that set off alarms and fear. The student was detained for having what resembled a bomb. Officers said the clock and wires inside his Vaultz pencil case looked like a hoax bomb to them. When questioned about the device was, the student, Ahmed Mohamed, wouldn’t answer. Now terror-tied Islamic groups like Hamas-CAIR, their media lapdogs and even President Obama are waging jihad against the school.

Story continues below advertisement

This whole thing smells like a set-up. With ISIS in America, and young moderate Muslims fleeing to Syria to join the terror group, the Irving school’s response was rational and reasonable. I run news stories on a weekly basis of American Muslim teens arrested for trying to join ISIS. Just this week, a Philly Muslim teen was arrested for a plot to assassinate the Pope on his US visit.

Every day we are warned of new terror threats, increased threat levels. But trying to protect schoolchildren is “islamophobic.” And President Obama agrees, of course. Yes, he has weighed in.

WFAA: According to Irving police, Ahmed’s case contained a digital clock that the student had taken apart and rearranged. Police said the student had the briefcase in his English class, where he plugged it into an electrical outlet and it started to make noise.

Ahmed told WFAA that his English teacher confiscated his case. A few hours later, the student said the principal and school resource officer pulled him out of class and questioned the high school freshman.

Officers said Ahmed was being “passive aggressive” in his answers to their questions, and didn’t have a “reasonable answer” as to what he was doing with the case.

Investigators said the student told them that it was just a clock that he was messing around with.

“We attempted to question the juvenile about what it was and he would simply only say it was a clock. He didn’t offer any explanation as to what it was for, why he created this device, why he brought it to school,” said James McLellan, Irving Police.

Like I said. It smells like a set-up. Why wasn’t Ahmed forthcoming when questioned?

The teachers were just trying to protect the school and the school children. Islamic supremacists will have have their heads.

Mohamed said problems arose when the clock rang in his back pack in class with a second teacher later in the day. He said he showed that teacher the device after other students had left the room.

“She said, ‘Well it looks like a bomb. Don’t show it to anyone else,’” he said. “And she decides to take it from me.”

The principal referred questions to the district, which released this statement to WFAA:

We always ask our students and staff to immediately report if they observe any suspicious items and/or suspicious behavior. If something is out of the ordinary, the information should be reported immediately to a school administrator and/or the police so it can be addressed right away. We will always take necessary precautions to protect our students and keep our school community as safe as possible.”

Of course, but terror-tied groups like CAIR means to stop any reporting of suspicion of jihad. They mean to punish the vigilant.

Ahmed, his father, and attorneys with CAIR planned to meet with the principal and the police chief on Wednesday afternoon.

“If the family is willing to give us written permission, we would be happy to share with the public the other side of the story so they can understand the actions we took,” Irving Independent School District spokeswoman Lesley Weaver  said.

The president, of course, had to insert himself. Is it any wonder 30% of the country thinks he’s a Muslim? He’s invited the kid to the White House.

A 14-year-old North Texas student and his family blame fear of Islam for his arrest on charges of making a “hoax bomb.” NBC News, September 15, 2015:

Ahmed Mohamed, a freshman at Irving MacArthur High School, said he took an electronic clock he built over the weekend to school Monday morning to show his first period engineering teacher his skill with making things.

“I wanted to start clean with the teacher by showing him my inventions and stuff,” he said.

Prosper Firefighter Helps Plano Police Catch Robber

Mohamed said police handcuffed him and took him to Irving police headquarters for interrogation, fingerprints and mug shots. He said his family surname repeatedly came up in police questioning.

“I tried making a phone call to my father. They said, ‘You’re in the middle of an interrogation. You can’t have a phone call,'” he said. “I really don’t think it’s fair, because I brought something to school that wasn’t a threat to anyone. I didn’t do anything wrong. I just showed my teachers something and I end up being arrested later that day.”

Irving Student Says He’s Falsely Accused of Hoax Bomb

[DFW] Irving Student Says He's Falsely Accused of Hoax Bomb

A 14-year-old Irving High School student is accused of making a hoax bomb, but he says it was a clock he brought to school to show an engineering teacher. Ahmed Mohamed says there was never a threat, and he and his father believe it’s a case of discrimination because of their religion. (Published Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015)

His father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, said he drove his son to school Monday morning and encouraged him to demonstrate his gift for technology.

“We are in the melting pot,” the father said. “We are in the greatest country. We need this trouble not to hinder us, as Muslims, as Christians, as Jews, or whatever you are.”

Irving police released a report Tuesday that lists three MacArthur High teachers as complainants against the teen on the charge of “hoax bomb.” Irving Police Officer James McLellan said school officials simply thought the device was suspicious and acted out of caution.

“Clearly, there were disassembled clock parts in there, but he offered no more explanation than that,” McLellan said. “A lot of these details that the family and he have provided to you were not shared with us yesterday. He was very much less than forthcoming.”

McLellan said the police investigation is not completed.

Irving Independent School District spokeswoman Lesley Weaver said Tuesday their main focus was student safety.

“We are never going to take any chances for any of their safety,” she said. “It doesn’t matter what child would have brought a suspicious looking item. We still would have taken the same actions.”

Weaver said it’s frustrating to not be able to provide the school’s perspective.

“If the family is willing to give us written permission, we would be happy to share with the public the other side of the story so they can understand the actions we took,” she said.

Weaver also issued the following statement on behalf of the Irving ISD Tuesday:

“Around 3 p.m. yesterday, a MacArthur High School student was arrested on campus by the Irving Police Department. School officials have been cooperating fully with the police investigation, and while privacy laws prevent us from sharing specific details about student discipline, we can assure everyone that school administrators are handling the situation in accordance with the Irving ISD Student Code of Conduct and applicable laws.

The teen and his father want the case closed and the “clock” device returned to them.

“I don’t want to see anybody go through what I went through,” Ahmed Mohamed said.

It also does not matter if it was Muslim, Jewish or whatever, someone with a ticking briefcase should be questioned harshly.
And of course consider the times we live in… I’d rather have teachers break into the student body’s privacy than have my kid endangered because some people want to be politically correct. Even as a kid I thought the same, simply because I had nothing to hide.

Good question: I was not blocked, and that is not my account in the picture; this was my first post. The picture I posted was of a reply that a friend of mine attempted to post to this article. Hope that provides some clarification.

I used an alias for my name, most likely for the same reason as you. No reason to have my real name tied to such an incendiary woman, or her articles, especially considering the company she is keeping on here, your post aside.

Regardless, I was pointing out the fact that Pamela Geller blocks people with opposing views, so as to keep the steam in the engine of fear-mongering. It is atrocious to me that the frequenters of this blog are so ready to simply conclude that this 14 year old boy must be a terrorist, with accusations that the boy’s clock was a bomb set to go off in class, and that now he has a free pass to bring a real bomb. Of course the ignorance shines as bright as day through it all with comments like: “hopefully he’ll take the real thing to the white (honky) house;” “Toying with terror. It is the Islamic way.;” and “Durka durka!”

I used circuit boards as a kid too: built computers; phones; even a light show for physics. I was also involved in robotics as a freshman. I’m sure some others have as well. I wish this country was not so loudly represented by the racist and ignorant.

Seems to me that Pamela Geller and her followers are strong proponents of “freedom of religion, as long as it’s Christian.” This child is not a threat. Stop publicly shaming him, let him move on with his education and his interests, respect his religion, and stop being afraid of a 14 year old.

Again, Honest Citizen, your post was not one of the bad ones, just a good question to my post. Just venting here a bit. With that, I’m off of this cess-pool of fear-mongering and ignorance. This article, as with many other posts by Pamela Geller, is a sorry excuse for journalism, pandering to the worst of America, and handing them a soapbox from which to spew their ignorance.

This clock looked like a bomb. The digital readout was fastened so it could be seen from the outside of a small “suit case”. It looked like one of those nuclear bombs in the movies that has a clock counting down to zero. Here’s a link to what it looked like on the inside – you can see that the digital display is fastened so you can see it from the outside when the case is closed. Looks exactly like a bomb.

any who, on the meat of the story, don’t kids these days get in trouble if they bring an aspirin or ibuprofen to school, because its zero tolerance on drugs, well, also zero tolerance on weapons right, kids suspended for pop tart that looks like a gun???
……unless you practice a “certain” …”religion” then faux bombs,.aspirin, bbguns, whatever, anything goes, do what you want, and if anyone dares.question your right to threaten terror on your community, then here comes CAIR.

people attending churches need to be extra attentive to any strange individuals around their church etc. I have heard of some of “them” coming into churches wearing back packs and sitting on the back and laughing at the sermon, and then having to be asked.to leave…shades of the same foreshadowing seems like.to.me, because what Muslim would.want to kill Christians, or like in above story, school children??? Did you know that Allah is not the generic word for God in Arabic? Allah is the name of a specific deity (among many) worshiped in pre-Islamic times by pagans. Muslims say God is Greatest (among many Gods), not God is Great. The hajj, and Ramadan are both pre-Islamic pagan practices. You are therefore not worshiping the true God. Pam is not bigoted because Islam seeks to destroy democracy and impose itself on all people. Individual Muslims can be fine people, most are, it’s the Quran and its doctrines that are in error. Peace to you.

Then your Christian Arab friends are worshiping this specific deity worshiped in pre-Islamic times by pagans. Where did you go to school? So you have accused millions of Arab Christians of being pagans, heathens. Your bigotry has blinded you in so much that your argument and lies hold no weight anymore.

You are talking about God yet endorse secularism, what a moral contradiction you are. Do you think God would endorse pornography, alcoholism and drunkenness, dangerous drugs, fornication, adultery, homosexuality and all the other evils the west endorses? How could people blaspheme against God/Allah by saying “God bless America?” Did Jesus Christ peace be upon him taught democracy? Take a vote in the house to endorse these sins that America makes permissible?

Peace be to all who seek the guidance. Same to you.

Thanks for the peace. It is a mistake that the word Allah is present in some Bible versions in Arab areas. This is a grave mistake and only confuses people and compounds the error.
The Arab Christians as long as they believe in the God of the Bible are not pagans. Our God has a Son as opposed to Allah who had three daughters: see Quran 53:19, 20. They are totally different Gods and not the same. I believe in the massive record of the Bible written over thousands of years, not the conjecture of one fallible man some 1400 years ago that seeks to disagree with just about everything important written in it.

I don’t endorse secularism, i just don’t believe that people should be killed or given second class status because they are not of a particular religion. The Ten commandments given by God are what I believe is the truth and I am against the practice of adultery, stealing, lying, drugs and homosexuality etc. Democracy is not perfect by any means but it is a better system than ‘convert or die’, ‘beat your wife’, ‘slay the infidels’, ‘strike terror’, ‘strike the necks’ and ‘be harsh’. etc etc. The weakness with democracy is that bad people can get into power. The constitution in America, written by godly people I believe, can provide some protection in spite of this.

So, do you want to live in a society in which you have no say? Where do you live currently? are you okay without democracy? Secularism means none of those things. Secularism means tolerance and equality. It means progression rather than being trapped by the confines of an ancient book void of morality and sense.

Yeah, it’s not going too well my friend ;). Contrary to what your pop-star Imams desperately claim constantly, Islam is shrinking rather rapidly, and people of your ilk are the reactionary response to the coming collapse of religin in the modern world. You’re desperately trying to hang on by digging in with the most extreme, violent ideology you can because you realise how powerless and useless your life and way of life is, and how intolerant, violent, nasty, oppressive, misogynist, hateful your mind is. Without religion to excuse your bigotry, you’re nothing.

Don’t mean any disrespect but how do teachers and principals know what a bomb looks like? It’s not like they went to a bomb-making seminar, (during coffee break?) LOL

It looks like a circuit board, I don’t see any TNT.

This Muslim kid is making the educational system look like complete fools. Better shut it down before it gets any worse.

I disagree.

He showed the project to his engineering teacher, who advised him not to show it to other teachers.

Then why didn’t Ahmed put the device into his locker (assuming that the school has lockers, that is)?

In Ahmed’s English class, the clock beeped while it was in his bag. When
he showed the project to his teacher, she thought it looked like a bomb.

She did exactly what she should have done. The device does look like a bomb — especially to an English teacher. I should know: I am an English teacher.

Why did Ahmed allow the device to beep in English class? Surely he could have prevented that from happening.

I understand your point. But to what extend does racism play a part here? Would this scenario have played out the same if he had been white? Why did the engineering teacher think he should not show it? Did he know he would be thought a terrorist with a bomb because of his race?

He’s a 14 yr old nerd: no social skills, but the desire to share his inventions and knowledge. Just like jocks bring their sporting equipment to school, and cheerleaders bring their makeup, nerds bring their electronics.

That the educational system tolerates jocks and cheerleaders but not nerds is a big loss to the country. This is why Silicon Valley is in an uproar.

Furthermore, why is the Pamela Geller forum consensus that he was a bad kid? If we want less terrorism from Muslims we should encourage these kind of educational activities with science and technology, not condemn them.

We live in a world of electronics (smartphones, computers, and now watches, ipods, etc), and I wonder how a circuit board can be seen as a bomb? There is something wrong with that interpretation.

With computers (which all contain circuit boards) in every classroom and home, how is it possible to think that they be interpreted as bombs? Like I said above, I doubt anyone would come away with that conclusion had he not been a brown Muslim.

Not that there is anything wrong with being cautious with brown Muslims, but I think this case was taken too far and it is exposing American ignorance, racism, xenophobia, and malice. And that is counterproductive to reducing terrorism.

Weaver said it’s frustrating to not be able to provide the school’s perspective.

“If the family is willing to give us written permission, we would be happy to share with the public the other side of the story so they can understand the actions we took,” she said.

If the family doesn’t release the information, something underhanded is going on here.

Based on the reaction to this incident, and assuming this youngster had no intent to scare or intimidate anyone with a bomb like threat, what I believe we should conclude from this incident is a recognition that this country is now acting out the fear that permeates here concerning the evil conduct of the Islamic Jihadist’s. I sincerely believe that this reaction can directy be related to the cowardice and failure of leadership of our President and the leaders that we have chosen to represent us in Congress. That cowardice can be recently seen by the Democratic Senators refusal to even consider the probability that the agreement with Iran was “negotiated” from a position of weakness and was a fool’s agreement. None of this would have happened if we had acted to remove this evil from the planet years ago. Because of the failure to act vigorously to end the scourge that is Jihad, we are now left with conduct that for the first time in this countries history has left its citizens “watching their back.” We must elect leaders who will make the hard decisions that are necessary to end the Cancer that has beset this world.
