Time Mag: Muhammad cartoons “make Muslims feel less safe”

57

“These cartoons contribute to a climate of fear in which Muslims are seen as a threat.”

Uh, they are slaughtering people over them! How should that be seen?

Robert Spencer exposes Time Magazine’s monstrous moral inversion.

Story continues below advertisement

GARLAND, TX - MAY 4, 2015 : Members of the FBI Evidence Response Team investigate the crime scene outside of the Curtis Culwell Center after a shooting occurred the day before, on May 04, 2015 in Garland, Texas. During the "Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest," on May 03, Elton Simpson of Phoenix, Arizonia and Nadir Soofi opened fire, wounding a security guard. Police officers shot and killed Simpson at the scene. The provocative cartoon event was billed by organizers as a free speech event while critics deemed it to be anti-Islamic. (Photo by Ben Torres/Getty Images)

“Time Mag: Muhammad cartoons ‘make Muslims feel less safe,'” by Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch, June 20, 2015:

muhammed-sword-winnerJordan Denari is a “Research Fellow at Georgetown University’s Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, where she works for the Bridge Initiative, a research project on Islamophobia.” She works with Nathan Lean, the gutter thug who has repeatedly posted on Twitter what he thinks is my home address and places he thinks I frequent, in a nakedly obvious attempt to intimidate me into silence and/or to alert the jihadis he enables to places where they can find and kill me.

That Jordan Denari would work with such a viciously hateful and morally compromised individual as Lean already makes everything she says suspect, but this article manifests an even greater moral inversion: because of Muhammad cartoons, Islamic jihadists murdered 11 people at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris in January. Because of Muhammad cartoons, five Islamic jihadists have now plotted to murder Pamela Geller; three were killed in the process, and two others are in jail. Those who have stood up for free speech against violent intimidation in connection with Muhammad cartoons live with the knowledge that they could be murdered by Islamic jihadists at any time.

How many Muslims have been killed because of cartoons of Muhammad, aside from those who were trying to commit jihad mass murder because of them? None. How many Muslims have even been inconvenienced? None. The people who are placed in jeopardy because of Muhammad cartoons are those who are standing for the freedom of speech in the face of threats and murder from Muslims over them. Jordan Denari probably knows this, or should if she doesn’t. Time Magazine should know better than to print this kind of nonsense, but everywhere Islamic supremacists and their Leftist enablers have easy media access.

“Muhammad Cartoons Are Offensive, But Not for the Reason You Think,” by Jordan Denari, Time Magazine, June 19, 2015:

If you find yourself driving through St. Louis or rural Arkansas in the coming weeks, you may come across billboards depicting Islam’s prophet Muhammad. The American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), the group led by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer that organized last month’s Draw Muhammad event in Garland, Texas, is promoting ads featuring the contest’s winning cartoon: an image of an angry, sword-wielding Muhammad lunging forward toward the hands of the artist who drew him.

The news coverage of AFDI’s recent effort—as well as others’ plans to disseminate Muhammad cartoons—has been accompanied by attempts to explain why displaying these violent drawings is problematic or offensive. Journalists and commentators often diagnose the problem this way: Many Muslims disapprove of depictions of their prophet, and thus some may retaliate violently against them. But this characterization ignores the cartoons’ real implications. Actively spreading these cartoons is offensive because it contributes to an existing climate of fear in which Muslims are seen as a threat—a climate that endangers Muslims in the West….

Maybe they wouldn’t be seen as a threat because of the cartoons if they didn’t keep trying to murder people because of them.

But these threats are only perceptions—misperceptions—grounded not in facts or personal experience but in propagandistic portrayals. AFDI’s Muhammad ads make Muslims, the demonized group, actually look like the demonizer.

Remember as you read that who exactly is doing the killing, and who is under threat of death because of these cartoons.

The group’s latest campaigns contribute to these misperceptions and the more general climate in which Muslims are depicted as an existential threat and therefore treated as such.

During a period when anti-Muslim attacks are already high, these ads make Muslims feel less safe, and they’re right to be upset about the promotion of these cartoons. In fact, we should all take offense to their dissemination. In diverse, pluralistic societies, Muslims and non-Muslims alike should not stand by as an entire religious group is made to look like the enemy.

Once again we see the claim that “an entire religious group is made to look like the enemy.” Yet our ads to which Denari is objecting just say “Support Free Speech.” How exactly does this demonize all Muslims? She doesn’t say, because it doesn’t. The claim that we blame all Muslims for the actions of a few is a Goebbels-like Big Lie, endlessly repeated, but no less true for all the repetition.

I blame them all for sitting on their hands. Because of their general whinitude they are putting themselves and everyone else at risk. They need to get together as a community and fix the problem. They need to publicly expel terrorists from their “religion” and reform their quran. But they won’t do it. So it’s up to the rest of us to stop addressing their feelings. Now you can’t even tell which ones you can trust.

“…why displaying these violent drawings…”

Reality to the Time Magazine:

No drawings, never EVER, can be “violent”! Violent can only be, perhaps, those who act on them. That kind of sneaky, Goebbels-like methods of writings keep me out of their reach. I never read anything written in “Time” for the last 20 years or so. Their “time” has passed.

Too bad Time Magazine does not allow comments on this article.
They do write though: “TIME Ideas hosts the world’s leading voices,

I will remember that. http://members.ziggo.nl/iiat/

Well i sure do feel less safe. i mean knowing that the once highly readable Time Magazine publishes this drivel
I sure do feel less safe… knowing that Time Magazine thinks it quite normal to allow
self deception to advance the ‘progressive thinking’. What first got me about progressive thinking was it’s assumption that anything that wasn’t progressive was by definition ‘regressive’. It’s utter disrespect for anything except the worldview of the oppressed vs the oppressor, is and was nauseating. This article in the mag is nauseating. It is time to reveal all this to the cowed, startled, befuddled people of the nation just how far this goes.

Bull. Unless we kowtow to a Muslim, he feels “less safe”. These people either have an extremely poor self concept or they are lying. If anyone should feel less safe, it a non Muslim when around Muslims. It is Muslims who are attacking non Muslims worldwide, not the other way around.

“Time Magazine” had to be taken to court by Ariel Sharon because “Time Magazine” lied in smearing Ariel Sharon as telling the family of the assassinated Bashir Geymal as encouraging the Geymal family to seek revenge for Geymal’s death. Then, there was the Sabra/Shatila massacre, cleverly done by a Syrian agent in the Phalangist. The Sabra/Shatila killing was a clever propagandistic move on the of the dictator of Syria (Bashir Assad’s father) as many Jews went into an orgy of cynical self hatred for a massacre that gentiles and not Jews carried out, “Time Magazine” continued the orgy of hatred/self hatred and then Premier Sharon had to sue them in American and Israeli courts.

>”…is extremely evil and their loathsomeness even extends back to the Nazi period in Germany (until Germany declared war on us, that is).”

They changed then because the USSR was under attack by Hitler at that point, causing us to become allies of Time’s beloved Stalin with Pearl Harbor and Hitler’s war declaration against us.

Not to have changed from Nazi apologist to anti-Nazi when Hitler’s generals launched Fall Barbarossa against the Sovs would have been a betrayal of Time’s core value of Stalinist collectivism.

Advanced studies have shown that it is muhammad who makes muslims feel less safe. According to the sharia, if you decide you no longer want to live by the rules of the pedophile muhammad, it is then the duty of every other follower of muhammad to end your life. That’s in muhammad’s own rule book, not some cartoonist’s comic book.
Those primitive savages have NOTHING to fear from a harmless comic book full of muhammad cartoons. It is possible that some of them are schizophrenic and therefore could fear a lot of harmless things. But that’s not the case here. Muhammad scares the shit out of muslims, and so they fear him, and when you fear – you don’t feel safe. Muhammad makes muslims feel less safe. And since they are urged to be like muhammad, moslems also make muslims feel less safe. The commands written in the koran make moslems feel less safe. Less than what, who knows? But any evil book that inspires its readers to commit murder is going to also make them feel unsafe. How can a murderer feel safe? Why the hell would he murder anybody if he felt safe? All violent jihadis feel unsafe, of course, because what they are doing is evil, and sinful, and illegal in every civilized nation.
To blame it on a cartoon is pure insanity. Blame it on the true source: islam.

So, in closing, the true statement would be: MUHAMMAD AND ISLAM MAKE EVERYBODY UNSAFE. You’ll have to get far away from islam if you ever want to really feel safe. Just take that first step. islam is for scared losers.

*Shove this weak attempt to advance sharia law, up your koran holes, Time mag.

Time Magazine? Are they still in business??
.
There are several thoughts that come to mind after reading this article, but I will only address these:
.
1. Reponsible journalism in America is ancient history. Denari ‘attempts’ to explain why these cartoons are appearing on billboards, t-shirts, etc., but fails miserably to do so. It is clearly a case of the author not fully understanding the subject (ignorance) and imposing her own opinions in place of fact (bias).
.
2. Denari did not major in history while in college. Denari tries to present islam as this passive religion just trying to ‘go-along to get-along,’ and doing its own thing, and that muslims are just misunderstood. Along comes these ‘mean-old’ radicals trying to spread vicious lies about slaughter, beheadings, etc. Obviously, Denari needs to experince justy how ‘peaceful’ these muslims are first hand. Anyone want to help purchase a one-way ticket for Denari to Saudi Arabia??
.
3. Ignorance is bliss. Denari focuses on all the ‘anti-muslim’ attacks. Anyone heard of any of these lately? Anyone?? I did hear about police thwarting terror attacks by muslims, but I have yet to hear about ANY ‘anti-muslim’ attack. I guess its true – ignorance is bliss.
.
And that’s the way I see it ….
.

AFDI’s message denounces violent threats to Muslims and non-Muslims alike and addresses the behaviors of groups that you exampled. I wish that message were understood more fully.

Maybe the cartoon inadvertently lends itself to an “us vs them” interpretation, but civilized Muslims should realize that they too are part of the “us” that has to deal with the savage ones. Maybe not being in the hot spots makes it convenient to overlook that.

Those who equate drawing muhammad with putting crosses in jars of urine still miss the point, because the debate has been hijacked. We can’t allow fear to suppress truth about the mass murderer and pedophile named muhammad. The real reason they want Geller dead is because she tells the truth about Islam and she refuses to be silenced.
