Watch VIDEO: Winning Muhammad Cartoonist Bosch Fawstin Acceptance Speech and the Winning Cartoon

156

This is what the media won’t show you: the winning cartoon:
bosch fawstin

SpencerFawstinWildersGeller74-700x400

And here is the acceptance speech from the winner of Muhammad cartoon competition, former Muslim Bosch Fawstin. Fawstin is a hero, a legend.

Story continues below advertisement

Bosch Fawston on Greta, who shamefully did not show the cartoon:
‘Once Free Speech Goes, It’s Over’: ‘Draw Muhammad’ Contest Winner Sounds Off

Fawstin said that the contest was important to him because it’s about freedom of speech, which he asserted is “under siege.”

“I understand the threat that we face and that’s why I do what I do,” Fawstin said. “I do it because we’re being threatened. This has to be fought head-on.”

“As artists, as writers, as thinkers, as Americans, as people who love freedom, and the entire West, we need to hit back. Not with violence, with the truth, with our art, with our writing,” Fawstin said. “Once free speech goes, it’s over.”

As an expatriate working in Muslim country I completely agree with the people raising their voices to defend the freedom of speech and religious believes as well as atheism … to point out that not all Muslims are fanatics is not an objection to do so … having lived three years in Cairo Egypt, found even friends among Muslims but it also became clear to me that the average ‘Muslim’ already is quietly tolerating or supporting the Islamist’s or crimes and acts of discrimination against non believers which are committed nearly every day. Among he European politicians Geert Wilders is standing out by his realistic assessment of the dangers of immigration in connection with the emergence of Islamist subcultures … sadly I also see that people like him or Mrs Geller are exceptional thinkers defamed by the mainstream media … as more we should thank them for exposing themselves to such hostilities and putting their lives into real danger.

The right to free speech does not depend on “taste” or “skills”. Speech does not have to meet your aesthetic or technical criteria to be protected under the Constitution.

Death Ray

1) The purpose of Pam’s event was to bait Muslims, not to promote free speech. When Charlie Hebdo ran Mohammed cartoons, it was in the spirit of political criticism. They did not run cartoons of Mohammed every day or invite people to contribute the worst examples they could create for the purpose of spectacle. Charlie Hebdo attacked Islamic superstitions, not Islamic worshippers.

In other words, have as many Mohammed cartoon contests as you want, it’s not like anyone intended to HIRE these schmucks.

2) Pamela Geller does not hate Islam, she hates Muslims. Her routine reference to Muslims as “savages” (a term now popularized by American Sniper) is not reserved for terrorists. If you need a little reminder about where Pamella and Co. are coming from, just listen to the joke about “Mohammed’s mommy” in the video above. It is humor in the same vein as “Ho-dee-doh!” and “Na-Cho-Cheese!” (Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.)

3) At this point, there have been enough shootings over Muslim cartoons that Pamela knew (and probably hoped) that she was courting danger. You don’t get to run a public ” We Dare to Insult Mohammed Through Cartoons” event (with
a notorious Dutch reactionary by your side) and then feign ignorance of the consequences. This event was conducted in the spirit of confrontation, not dialogue. Therefor, the shooting could actually be said to be the desired result.

To incite hatred is perfectly legal in democracies. you may do it back. Sometimes it is logical to hate something you consider bad. It simply is no problem.

Kuffars do it to Muslims, Muslims do it to Kuffars. But among them plenty of praise and support is also going on. Look at Obama who exonerates and praises Islam often.

Either prohibit hate-speech by all or none. Either allow hate-speech by all or none.

We draw the line only at violence and incitement to it, and intimidation through it, gaining an unfair advantage through it, like Muslims do, and you?

This whole idea that muslims have the right to place creative restrictions on the world’s citizens is insane. It’s an obnoxious, unenforceable, baseless, demand that is in itself a provocation against non-muslims. THEY are provoking US with a preposterous order to not perform an act that is so ordinary and harmless that the order must be seen as a warrantless threat against our right to peaceably exist. It’s like me telling you, you can’t sneeze for a whole week, and if you do I might have to kill someone, I’ll be so angry. Well, that’s a groundless threat against others based on an unreasonable demand placed on you.

And my analogy is good enough, because their demand that others not draw cartoons of muhammad is an obnoxious, unenforceable, baseless, demand against non-muslims under threat of violence. You seem to want to place the entire moral burden on the cartoonists over that of the angry muslims. But it’s the angry muslims that are provoking the situation with their unreasonable demand in the first place. And to top it off, the moral consequence of murder far exceeds any moral responsibility the cartoonists may bear to not draw the cartoons!

Your muslims lose all the way around with this thing, as they are the provocateurs, and the killers. The angry muslims are solely responsible for any bad consequences, because they manufactured from thin air the reasons for their occurrence.

We didn’t need Pam Geller to show us that lunatics will attack you for no good reason, or to learn that “freedom isn’t free”. We already KNOW these things. And as for the cartoons themselves, they were not manufactured for any productive reason….. they were simply BAIT.

As a cartoonist I am offended to see art used in this way, as a mere prop in a bigoted political stunt that wound up getting people killed and injured. Explain to me what benefit you and I should both feel we got from this? What do we learn that we didn’t know before? What improvement to our country has come from all this?

Free speech is free speech, right? Well, now that its excercise has, on this occasion, led to led to blood and mayhem (as the event organizers anticipated), what’s the GOOD outcome?

Well, the first good outcome is two murderers are dead. The second good outcome, is the participants in the event had the chance to enjoy themselves freely, to be wild and wacky for freedom, and that’s their right in our free country. The “blood and mayhem” is the total responsibility of those who broke the law for indefensible reasons.

We didn’t need Pam Geller to show us that lunatics will attack you for no good reason, or to learn that “freedom isn’t free”.

You’re right, muslims show us well enough that “lunatics will attack you for no good reason.” And it’s true, “freedom isn’t free.” But the moral burden for that sad fact is not on the shoulders of those whose freedom is threatened or denied. Muslims’ unethical/immoral reasons for depriving others their basic liberties are not superior to the fundamental right to those liberties. The fact that “freedom isn’t free” is not a reason to give up freedom, instead it reaffirms the need to fight for freedom. If you understand that, then you understand this contest.

And as for the cartoons themselves, they were not manufactured
for any productive reason….. they were simply BAIT.

No, exercising their basic liberty of free expression is not baiting muslims, they are baiting us with their senseless provocation. They have no right to bait us with a demand that no free people should have to honor. And if these cartoons were BAIT, it’s in the same sense that my standing on a street corner is bait for a thief to rob me. You are taking our fundamental right to free expression in our free nation and twisting it into a kind “bait” for murder. You have inverted the moral burden from the victimizer to the victim. I find that an astonishing lapse in judgment.

As a cartoonist I am offended to see art used in this way, as a mere prop in a bigoted political stunt that wound up getting people killed and injured.

And as a human being with basic human liberties, I am offended to see a murderous “religion” trying to dominate the world’s citizens with barbarity and oppression. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this point.

Explain to me what benefit you and I should both feel we got from this? What do we learn that we didn’t know before? What improvement to our country has come from all this?

The obvious benefit is we had a chance to reaffirm our free lives, to live according to our own good conscience, and to express ourselves freely. If we are confronting islamic oppression with cartoons, then the improvement is the reaffirmation of our sacred principles of liberty and free speech, and we improve ourselves in dignity and self-respect by standing in defense of what is good and right. Millions have died for these freedoms. We stand nobly in their defense. And if we learn anything in this, it’s that there is a force in the world that’s trying to rob us of our freedoms, to impose its tyrannical will on us all. Of course we islamophobes know this already, but some folks are still debating. So let’s hope they’re learning from this.

If our 1st amendment must be a battle front against the madness of islam then so be it. If this is where the war for freedom must be fought, then let’s cock and load our pens and start “shooting.” Because nobody tells us Americans who or what we can draw.

First of all, Jack, they weren’t murderers. You first have to MURDER to be a murderer. Keep your English straight.

Second, this was a conservative art exhibit, a contest to see who could express the most fear through poor taste. No one was having fun.

But I’m glad you have verified what I have been contending all along, which is that this was an exercise in provoking and insulting Muslims, out of hatred, and not an exercise in free speech against terrorism for the sake of democracy. I like to try to explain, since you ask.

Say, there are 10 religions, lifestyles with big number of followers.

What is the difference between the 9 and the 1, say Islam?

No followers of the 9 ever respond with violence on non-violent “hating”,”bating”, “taunting”,”hurting feelings”, “denigration”, “drawing it’s prophets or leaders”, “ridicule” of THEIR religion or prophet.

Only a substantial part of the 10th religion does that.

In response, without a second thought, in the West the media, artists, citizens, all do “hate, bait, taunt, hurt feelings, denigrate, draw leaders/ historical figures

Of all 9 other religions ALL THE TIME.

There is one exception, such criticism and ridicule is withheld when ISLAM is concerned. Big advantage for Islam and Muslims!

SoPamela and Robert say that Islamic intimidation WORKS. And I say that Islam and all Muslims PROPHIT from this intimidation.

So now YOU imagine that for instance the Mormons, Scientologists and Amish all decide that intimidation works and so will from now on let a minority of their followers kill non-violent artists, writers who denigrate THEIR religion. To gain the same advantage.

When Mormons, Scientologists, Amish really would do that, maybe THEN you would understand Pamela.

1) So YOU say. Other people say she is standing up to defend free speech in defiance of death threats. There is speech all over the culture that baits, attacks, insults just about every other religion under the sun. A major Broadway production mocks a religion for several hours every night, and not only do people not demand it be closed down, the leftist powers that be award it multiple Emmys. Christianity is routinely attacked all over the place; Orthodox and Hasidic Judaism as well, though not as openly or frequently. Nobody, but nobody, says this speech is not free speech. Again, the right to free speech does not depend on the marketability of the end product.

2) “Savages” is an accurate description of the people she’s fighting. They’re savages, whether we say so or not. We might as well say so; we might as we call a thing by its rightful name. You say she’s referring to ALL muslims. I don’t think so.

3) She noted what’s happened at the past and took steps to make sure they didn’t happen in Texas. Would she have the right to free speech if she hadn’t hired security, and the goons that attacked had slaughtered her and every other participant? If that’s what you think, what a stupid notion: you earn the right to free speech if you deliberately martyr yourself.

She’s not feigning ignorance of anything. She may have assumed an attack might happen, and it’s her position that such an attack is not justified no matter what she or anyone else says about Islam, or how she says it, and she’s right, and you’re wrong. The fact that this speech is confrontational is completely irrelevant. Much political speech is confrontational. The civil rights protests of the 60’s were confrontation; so were the Vietnam war protests. That doesn’t mean they weren’t free speech. And if you really think what Geller, AFDI, Spencer et al did and said isn’t worthy of the protection of the 1st Amendment, then put the chains on yourself and close the shackles, because you’re already mentally enslaved.

Yes, Muslims were baited, taunted. The same way that Christians, Mormons, Scientologists, Amish, Jehovah;s witnesses, atheists, buddhists are regularly baited and taunted.

It is not the baiting and taunting that differs, it is only the reaction to it that is different.

a part of the muslims intimidates the majority with death-threats and actual murder. And yes, the majority then withholds criticism, but only for Islam.

This is unfair advantage for Islam and all Muslims, and that is what you now try to defend; an unfair advantage of Islam over all the other religions or lifestyles.

If your true motive is clear, your words lose all credibility and trustworthyness.

Cartoons are not war. Those who pick up the guns to kill cartoonists “bring the war”. And those, like you, who would appease them, and deny your own constitutional rights,or those of others, guarantee war will happen. Regardless of what you may believe is causing it, it is those who appease totalitarian who guarantee those totalitarians will continue to attack.

The security officer took a bullet (fortunately he’s fine) for western civilization, for freedom, for individual rights, for equality between men and women, for democracy, for freedom of speech, for all the victims (Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, “infidels”, homosexuals, France, little children, all women, all non-muslims and muslim victims of their own leaders) and potential victims of Islamic violence and, bigotry and insanity.

Well, listen to what she has to say.

Islam and all Muslims in a way prophit from intimidation, when Christianity, Mormonism, Scientology, Hindoeism, Buddhism, Atheism ALL get criticized, and humiliated, while NONE of their follower react violently.

Now meek kuffars darenot criticize, humiliate Islam, but only the other religions. Muslims dare also not criticize, humiliate Islam, but they do that same thing with Jews, Americans, Kuffars, with no fear of intimidation what so ever.

The violent minority of Muslims thus gives Islam and Muslims a very unfair advantage.

And to break that unfair advantage this cartoon-convention was very necessary and worth dying for. Because if reasonable people give in to intimidation, what is other intimidators to stop from intimidating more to gain a similar advantage for their groups? . After all it works for the Muslims, doesn’t it?

So not holding this cartoon-convention in long run gives more intimidation, more deaths.

Demsci– this event was not a “win” for anyone. There was nothing heroic about somply throwing a bunch of cartoons on a wall and saying “come and get me”. Artists who persevere in the face of death threats deserve our support and our prayers, people like Pamella Geller who shout to the world, “Hey, where’s MY death threat??” deserve our contempt.

Oh, Death Ray, you KNOW she risked her life then, don;t you? That surely takes courage!

And oh, what a pity that Christians, Mormons, Atheists, Buddhists, Jews can’t use the same tactics the Muslims use.

But let us pretend that they do. Here goes. Everywhere where there is you know”ridicule, denigration, hate-speech, drawing of loved leaders” going against the above religions.

death squads of their followers will also kill, say, 12 artists and writers (like Charlie Hebdo) + threathen to kill all such.

Suddenly people who routinely “ridicule, denigrate, hate-speech etc” those religions will think twice about it and most will stop.

Only Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer THEN will also start hosting “insulting exhibitions against these other “then intimidating” religions.

And then Christians, Mormons, Atheists, Buddhists, or Jews will criticize them for having “taunted their more violent members”.

But we can thank the followers of those religions that they never use that intimidation tactic. Only a part of the Muslims does that.

The difference here, Demsci, is that this was not meant as a thoughtful criticism of Islam, much less an artistic one. Pam really DOES hate Muslims. A ploy to win attention for one’s self is not heroic in the least.

It was meant as a reaction to the intimidation of the killing of the 12 Charlie Hebdo cartoonists. And explained as such.

Thoughtful criticism on Islam? Well, if you acknowledge anything as such, great! Can you give an example of that?

Pamela gives plenty of that in my opinion. But the only reaction to ALL she says from Muslims is: she HATES us!

You too, are reduced to that judgement again. How do you expect a fair debate if that is all you can react with to criticism by her?

No Demsci, she does not have courage. It does not take courage to put others in harm’s way, and it would have taken greater courage for her to conduct, say, a symposium with Muslims on the very topic of free speech. Pam does not have the courage to speak to Muslims, only to insult them. She put nothing at all on the line.

It’s fantastic that this fine man would use his talent for such a good cause. And I so appreciate his candor about his muslim upbringing. His mention of hitler as some sort of familial hero is telling. It takes courage to stand before the world and say such things about ones youth. And I was worried he would fail as a speaker since his talent is in another area, but I was pleasantly surprised, he’s a natural. And his quote of Pamela Geller’s about our 1st amendment made my eyes water, I’m not ashamed to admit it.

Pam, this was a phenomenal success! I won’t be tacky and gloat over the death of
the jihadists, even though they deserved every bullet. I only want to wish my heart-felt thanks for what you are doing for all of us, and more than that, for human rights in general. I never can seem to find the right words to capture the fullness of my gratitude. And yes, I do give, though perhaps not as much as I should. I do speak out whenever possible. And I carry in my heart the same dedication to freedom that you and your cohorts do, though not with the same brilliance and achievement. Thank you, and may god and fate be on your side.

In his (May-5-2015) “Morning Jolt” column of the online National Review, Jim Geraghty says “We Have Invented Jihadist Flypaper”. I agree.

In the way that Obama dealt with the Ft Hood shooting and throughout his whole administration’s foreign policy, our president as demonstrated that he doesn’t have the stones to confront Islamist Jihadism, much less even let the words pass his lips. But Pam Geller, has.

The Danish cartoonists, the Charlie Hebdo Satirists, Theo van Gough and Ayaan Hirsi Ali have all demonstrated that Islamists cannot stand to be criticized or lampooned with cartoons.

What Pam Geller’s Garland Texas Muhammad Cartoon contest has shown is that one person using her First Amendment Rights can make a difference by evoking a response from jihadist terrorists that they cannot avoid. Geller may have come across the magic formula for making home-grown terrorists expose themselves in such a way that they are taken care of in the only manner that they deserve. Thanks, Pam.

Critics of Geller and her motives have succumb to the comfort of their oblivion and, thus, are the most worrisome component of this ever creeping problem. Using the impending threat of death, radical Islamists seek to impose their version of “law” on ALL, including cultures thus far free of such medieval belief and practice. It is for this very reason that our freedoms must be exerted, and the validity of radical Islam challenged, in the wake of events like Hebdo, etc. The freedoms of the civilized world must be exercised bravely and loudly at such times, not not tucked away by cowards who hope their closed eyes, ears, and mouths will make it all go away.

I see you believe that absurd conspiracy theory. You must be pretty desperate to deny the obvious, that those organisations carry out the tenets of Quran-Hadiths-Sira, in a valid interpretation of these “holy texts”.

That or those 3 holy texts are in essence very ambiguous, multi-interpretable, unclear, incomplete, contradictory. And how could they not be? They have not been changed one iota in 1300 years.

Don’t you see, even if the Israeli’s or Americans organised ISIS, then still these multi-interpretable texts of quran-hadiths-sira made it very easy for them to create a fake-islamic organisation that kills and oppresses wholesale all the time quoting ISLAMIC justification!

As Muslims you are stuck with a “holy manual” to live by that is much inferior to the most important laws, including the constitution of the West. These can be updated when they are multi-interpreted and still be binding. Islamic holy texts cannot.

Good advice, Mux. No problem.

But see context; a part of your fellow-Muslims DID KILL cartoonists at Charlie Hebdo. As a result we daresay Islam, through THIS intimidation, get’s much less criticized than all the other religions and lifestyles.

So, that intimidation of these extremist Muslims gives YOUR religion a very unfair advantage.

And you chose Islam, it is not an accident of birth.

And you do not throw out those intimidators, like we would have done.

and you stay in the same ummah with them and prophit from their murdering and intimidation.

Ha, go prophit from it, but know you are not honest, not fair! And WE are.

And we know, tell you, that in Islamic countries, Jews, Americans, Kuffars and their beloved leaders are just as much or worse INSULTED, HURT, MALICED by Muslims.

But of course you will let them go on but only try to discourage non-Muslims, you with your double standards.

Well, this attitude and behavior destroys the credibility and trustworthiness of you and your fellow-Muslims among reasonable people who understand.

Isn’t it embarrassing to a person like you to be in that “ummah” with those other Muslims?

If you “ordinary Muslims” can evict, eject those bad Muslims, like ISIS, then it is imperative that YOU get out of their embarrassing company somehow.

If you are Muslim out of loyalty to your parents and community, that is a dead wrong reason anyway. Only if you believe Islam is true, you have a good reason to be in the Ummah.

The ONLY regret most Westerners who prize their freedom of expression regret is that the Crusades didn’t wipe the mudslimes off the map altogether! There was defensive action throughout history to try to contain or repel the muzzies, but they always returned – more evil than ever! They were stopped at the Gates of Vienna, but not in Spain until the ruthless Catholics returned to power. Islam has always been at war with everyone that is not Muslim. The political cult pretending to be a religion needs to experience its own “reformation;” failing that, the goal will or should always be complete & utter defeat for the forces of Islamic terror & evil.
