NYT’s Michael Kimmelman Deplores the Cable-Car Project for Jerusalem

J’accuse @UJAfedNY President Alisa Doctoroff, Karen R. Adler, JCRC et al

Shame On Alisa Doctoroff, Karen R. Adler, the JCRC and more.

There has been a lot of commentary about the actions of a controversial tax-exempt group named, innocently enough, The New Israel Fund. The New Israel Fund’s work runs counter to seeing a strong, vibrant, and democratic Jewish nation state.  They are simply anti-Israel.

Let there be no doubt: the UJA’s President financially supports the New Israel Fund (NIF) and other heinous organizations, as has been shown. And the JCRC partners with the New Israel Fund (in Boston) and is allowing them to march in the parade. Yet they are not alone. The Neturei Karta stands on the sidelines against Israel – and that is where the New Israel Fund belongs. Next to them.

The New Israel Fund spends some $30 million annually on efforts meant to undermine Israel’s military, bring its leaders before war crimes tribunals, and defend terrorists’ interests over the Jewish victims and the families of those who have died.

Who joins Alisa Doctoroff in giving this pro-BDS organization money?

New Israel Fund, Pro-BDS Supporters:

Karen R. Adler is the President of the Jewish Communal Fund –  She signed an open letter to Bill De Blasio: “the needs and concerns of many of your constituents–U.S. Jews like us among them–are not aligned with those of AIPAC, and that no, your job is not to do AIPAC’s bidding when they call you to do so. AIPAC speaks for Israel’s hard-line government and its right-wing supporters, and for them alone; it does not speak for us.”

Adler is a board member of the Israel Policy Forum, a radical organization, that “…helped convince President Obama to adopt its Middle East Roadmap, basically the Saudi Initiative (Israel’s return to the 1949 Armistice lines, evacuation of all settlements, and the incorporation of Arab refugees and their descendents into Israel – in return for “normal relations).”   Netanyahu calls those borders “Auschwitz Borders.”

Irwin & Joan Jacobs:  Irwin Jacobs  is a co-founder of Qualcomm, a wireless-communications company. Irwin and Joan Jacobs give mostly in the San Diego area, but last year their largest donation, a pledge of about $133-million, was made to establish the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Innovation Institute at Cornell NYC Tech. The institute will house a dual-degree master’s program at Cornell Tech, a new science and engineering graduate school that Cornell University is building on Roosevelt Island, in New York. The graduate school aims to foster new business ventures between academe and industry. Somehow, he still gives to an organization that supports BDS.

Fohs Foundation: The Foes trustees work for “greater integration and equal status of the Arab community in Israel.”  (Sort of like the Abraham Fund Concept which Doctoroff is funding to get Arab voters out in Israel.) Fohs also says they “ It believes that a major obstacle to lasting internal peace, security, and a healthy economy, as well as to respect in the international community, is the lack of equal opportunity and equal treatment of the Arab/Palestinian* population that remained in Israel after 1948.”

Bonnie and Marty Tenenbaum Foundation: World-renowned Internet commerce pioneer and visionary, founded CommerceNet (1994) to accelerate business use of the Internet. The foundation sends a good deal of money to cancer research and non Jewish causes.   They donated the Board of Jewish Education offices located in the JCC of Palo Alto – yet also fund New Israel.

It goes on and on – all available by reading the annual reports of the New Israel Fund. The donors to the gross New Israel Fund include Mimi and Peter Haas, Irving Harris, Ruth B. Ziegler, Joel and Julia Greenblatt to the Edith and Henry Everett  Foundation  who serve on boards including The Jewish Book Council, Joint Distribution Committee, American Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools (chair), and more.

Hank Sheinkopf in the NY Observer this week said it right – “Those who stand with New Israel Fund are standing against Israel. To suggest otherwise is a lie. I urge anyone affiliated with the NIF to stop supporting this organization financially. The New Israel Fund must be ostracized by the Jewish community.”
