Last Monday, a Muslim mob in Pakistan that was protesting against the Charlie Hebdo cartoons of Muhammad forced open the gates of a Christian school, smashed windows, destroyed property, and demanded that the school be closed. This followed demonstrations in which tens of thousands of Muslims in Pakistan demanded that the West adopt Sharia blasphemy laws. 800,000 demonstrated against free speech in Chechnya. Muslim mobs in Niger set 45 churches on fire in their rage against the actions.
Meanwhile, a carnival in Germany canceled plans for a Charlie Hebdo float. A cartoon museum in Belgium canceled plans for a Charlie Hebdo tribute. An art museum in Paris removed an artwork from exhibit after Muslim threats. This stunning cowardice proves, yet again, that it hardly ends with cartoons. It begins there. The West is giving these savages the ultimate power over us. They seek to control what we say, what we think, and how we live.

And we are giving them that power.
This is how France responds after Charlie Hebdo jihad massacre? Shameful.
It’s time the free world said Enough is enough.
These savages need to be held to account, and the West has to stop this pathetic cowardice and submission to barbarity. They’re just cartoons. Enough already. The Muslim world has stop imposing its savagery on the non-Muslim and secular Muslim world.
It’s time to stand up.
That’s why my organization, the human rights advocacy group the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), will be holding a contest for cartoons of Muhammad, and an exhibit of Muhammad cartoons this May in Garland, Texas.
The contest will be online, with entries posted at the AFDI website. The winning cartoon will be announced at the May 3 cartoon exhibit in Garland. The winning cartoonist will be awarded a $10,000 prize.
The cartoon exhibit will feature images of Islam’s prophet, both historic and contemporary, and speeches by leading voices of freedom and internationally renowned free speech advocates. Also speaking will be brave artists who are unbowed by violent threats and determined to stand for the freedom of speech.
The exhibit will be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland on Sunday, May 3. This was the site of a Muslim conference denouncing ‘Islamophobia’ — an obscene stand for them to take after the Charlie Hebdo massacre – and our massive Free Speech Rally outside that event. The Muslim event was held in a hall owned by the local school district. When asked why they allowed that event on their premises, they answered that their hall was open to anyone who wished to rent it. So we are renting it for our Muhammad Cartoon Exhibit.
Curtis Culwell Center officials are keeping a very close watch on this event. They have demanded that they approve each ad for this event — the ad above was approved. But we have to run every ad flier by them for approval before putting it out.
The Cartoon Exhibit was a logical next step following AFDI’s Free Speech Rally in Garland. This new event will stand for free speech and show that Americans will not be cowed by violent Islamic intimidation. That is a crucial stand to take as Islamic assaults on the freedom of speech, our most fundamental freedom, are growing more insistent.
After the Charlie Hebdo massacre – and after the violent Muhammad cartoon riots a few years ago – there should have been Cartoon Exhibits all over the free world, to show the Islamic jihadis (and their stealth allies in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other Muslim groups that are doing all they can to intimidate the West into abandoning the freedom of speech) that we will not kowtow to violent intimidation. But there were no such exhibits. The free world was ready to submit to the savage enslavers.
But we aren’t. We know the risks. Of course, this event will require massive security. But this exhibit has to be staged. If we don’t show the jihadis that they will not frighten us into silence, the jihad against freedom will only grow more virulent.
And we hope that this event will give others the courage to stand up as well, and show the world that they aren’t going to submit to this savagery. Otherwise, it is no exaggeration to say that all will be lost.

I am so glad you are holding this contest!!!! As soon as the Charlie Hedbo killings happened I told everyone that we should flood every media with drawings, cartoons, etc of Mohammed so that everwhere you looked there would be an image of him. Of course that didnt happen. But I still think that would be a brilliant idea.

Very brave ADFI, but a tad misguided me thinks. The protest was good but this may be a step in the wrong direction. Cartoons and drawings don’t educate anyone.
I feel that Muslims will be angry for all the wrong reasons. You want a Muslim to be offended and angry because their religion is exposed as a violent fraud. Hopefully after the anger has cooled down a bit and they have had time to think, they will come to the conclusion that some good points have been made and see the need to re-evaluate or quit their religion.
I fear that all this will do is anger Muslims period. Mocking and jeering may be considered a democratic free right but is it the sensible thing to do in this case? Why not have an anti-sharia conference, or 10 worst things about Islam conference? This too would show strength and freedom but would also have the added bonus of educating people rather than just bashing the hornets nest with a shovel with no other purpose than to see how big and angry the swarm is.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Cartoons lampooning Nazi soldiers were used to rally the people during WWII.
The fact that you think these savages will logically come to the conclusion to “quit their religion” shows how out of touch you are. Do you think the German people would have renounced the Third Reich without the complete destruction of Dresden?
Interesting that the German people of the new, shiny, rebuilt Dresden are the one who held PEGIDA demonstrations against the islamists while little Ms. Merkel was kissing islamobutt. They apparently don’t want a repeat of fascism.

I should have written many cartoons and drawings in this context won’t educate anyone. All you are doing is laughing/mocking someone. This is like school yard teasing where one kid is singing ‘you’re fat and ugly’ x 10 . Maybe there should be some rules around the contest. Pictures that are considered vulgar and not relevant should be disqualified. Is there not a better way to confront Islam?
The Germans gave up the Third Reich because they lost. What you are suggesting is that we are at War with all Muslims. In a sense you are correct but the battles lines are not so clearly defined and we can’t wage a conventional war such as in ww2 or we would be rounding up Muslims and shooting them on the streets. We want the confrontation to be as civilized as possible…yes? We want to win this war but it would be better to minimize casualties where possible.

I agree with you, however, I don’t believe the cartoon focus is the best way forward. I think other things are more effective and productive such as the add campaign, main stream protests, rallys and conferences.

Muslims have no capacity to re-evaluate anything. It’s been 1400 years already and they haven’t re-evaluated. The non-nutjobs are too busy being offended. And the nutjobs are just that… Nutjobs…. Who go off on anything. It’s do or die time. We have to stand up at some point. Communities that are afraid of their churches burning down need to organize as a security force for their parishes. Maybe it’s time for a revival of the crusades. People ought to commit to burning down every mosque in town if there is ANY retaliation because of this exhibit. This is a free country. If muslims don’t like it they can leave. They can give up their citizenship. And should.
When Mapplethorpe displayed his shit and people didn’t like it, the law said, “too bad”. When “The Last Temptation of Christ” came out and people didn’t like it, the law said, “too bad”. Now the law is scared to tell muslims “too bad” because they’re scared they’ll burn something down or kill somebody. Well if it’s gotten to that point it’s time to take “the law” into our own hands, because obeying the law will get us killed eventually or doom us to enslavement. What’s the difference between dying now or dying later?

OK. If you want a full on war this is the way to do it. Bring ’em all out so we can deal to them. Bring on the confrontation. Get this war happening so we can all get on with our lives quicker. I can see the logic in this. I’m not sure if this is the right thing to do at this stage. It would be better if the Govt. banned the Quran and building of Mosques however.

All Muslims might be our enemy but some of them do not realize this yet. They don’t really understand the full implications of their religion. It’s these people we need to work on. ADFIs public advertising campaign was excellent in my opinion, thought provoking and hard hitting. The Muslims ideology was really damaged and yet the Muslim response was limited to my knowledge. The Muslims had to digest and think about the facts and truth of the statements. This cartoon competition is a different thing altogether. They will just see red only.

At least in America, they have you, Robert Spencer, Brigitte Gabriel and many others to stand up for what is right. I wish you the very best of luck with this event – don’t let them get to you.
As it happens, I think the fact that you and Robert Spencer are not allowed into this country is obscene. It may be too late for Britain – it’s certainly too late for the rest of Europe. Save the US while you have the chance.

I wish you all the best with this exhibition — a brave stand for freedom of expression and against savagery and backwardness.
I hope you consider bringing a similar exhibition to Europe in the near future — I wish I could be in Texas to see this one — but if you brought this art to London, Paris or Rome — I would be at each one.
We need someone like you on this continent to stand up for the rights that the UK “liberal” extremists, leftists and Eurocrats are eroding day by day.
The fear of Islam and its brutality has paralysed our political classes.
