UK: Muslim children are being groomed to join jihad, warns aunt of girl who fled to Syria

Here in the US, Muslim parents and relatives who warned of this very thing at Rep. Peter King’s hearings on radicalization were vilified, demonized, and smeared by Hamas-CAIR, Muslim Brotherhood media mouthpieces, and Muslim Brotherhood congressman Hakim Muhammad (Keith Ellison).

Above is a CAIR poster and advisory for Muslims not to talk and/or cooperate with law enforcement or grand juries. There are currently grand jury proceedings centered on trying to find out who is behind efforts to recruit Muslims in the Twin Cities to go overseas to wage jihad. The Feds are trying to find out who is behind efforts to convince scores of American Muslims “that they should leave Minnesota to fight in the Middle East.”

That question has stymied federal agents for the last year as they have struggled to build inroads and trust with the Muslim community in the Twin Cities in order to cut off a new pipeline of recruits.

Perhaps the feds are “stymied” because the Obama administration scrubbed all their counter terror materials of jihad and Islam. Perhaps the feds are stymied because they are so busy with “outreach” and worrying about “backlash” and “islamophobia.” Perhaps they are “stymied” because despite all their “outreach,” Muslim leaders refuse to cooperate. Perhaps the feds are “stymied” because they aren’t looking in the right places. Go to the mosques. One mosque that is heralded as having banned one terrorist recruiter only did so two months ago, years after his terror activity was made known.

In 2007, terrorist Amir Mesha was arrested in Kenya for having received weapons training in an Al-Qaida camp and for serving as a translator for the terrorist group’s leaders in Somalia. So why did the Bloomington mosque only just ban him in June, well after young Muslims from the mosque left to wage jihad with the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq?

The investigation is moving slowly because many of those subpoenaed are refusing to talk and have been instructed to invoke their Fifth Amendment right to remain silent, multiple sources said.

Why isn’t the Muslim community cooperating? Why aren’t they talking? Rep. Peter King said back in 2010, “When I meet with law enforcement, they are constantly telling me how little cooperation they get from Muslim leaders.”

…  jury proceedings have triggered a new sense of urgency among community leaders to engage families who have lost their children to terrorist recruiting. They are now urging these families to speak publicly about their experiences in the hopes of preventing other families from experiencing the same pain.

But when families did speak of this, they were attacked and smeared by Muslim Brotherhood groups like CAIR and Congressman Hakim Muhammad, aka Keith Ellison. Ellison made a series of personal attacks against three other Muslim witnesses  testifying at Rep. Peter King’s hearings on jihad recruitment in America. He blamed grieving father  Melvin Bledsoe for the actions of Bledsoe’s son Carlos, who shot and killed an Army private after converting to Islam.

They stole my son,” Bledsoe said. “They raped his mind. They changed his thought, his behavior. They changed him from Carlos to Abdulhakim. I asked God to give me my son back.”

Hakim  Muhammad (nee Keith Ellison) attacked family members as well.

In his speech, Ellison expressed similar disdain for Abdirizak Bihi, a Somali American from Minneapolis who also testified. Bihi’s teenage nephew Burhan Hassan was shot to death in Somalia in June 2009. Burhan was one of at least 20 Somali men and teenage boys from the Twin Cities area who have traveled to Somalia since 2007 to fight for the terrorist group al-Shabaab. The “only reason” Bihi was invited to testify was “because he’s willing to diss the Somali and Muslim community in Minneapolis,” Ellison said.

As part of his testimony, Bihi described how Islamist leaders discouraged people from cooperating with the investigation into the missing men. Talking to the FBI could get you sent to Guantanamo Bay, they said. And, there are consequences in the afterlife by being damned with “eternal fire and hell.”

At those same hearings, a Somali-American complained about interference from organized Muslim groups like CAIR while he was trying to learn about scores of missing young Muslim men who turned up with a jihad terrorist group in Somalia. They said he was there simply to “diss” the Muslim community in Minneapolis.

Missing: Yusra Hussien, 15, is believed to have travelled to join extremists

British children are being radicalised over the internet, the aunt of a teenager who is thought to have fled to Syria has warned.

“Powerful people” are grooming young Britons in an attempt to get them to join Islamist militants in the Middle East, according to Sucdi Ali.

Ms Ali said her family are “heartbroken” over suggestions schoolgirl Yusra Hussien, 15, may have become a “jihadi bride” after she secretly left her Bristol home more than two weeks ago.

She believes the teenager, who visited her in London over the summer, was radicalised online after spending increasing amounts of time on her laptop and smart phone and begged her to come home.

“If it can happen to Yusra it can happen to anyone,” Ms Ali said.

“She was just a normal, young girl. She was a home girl.

“There was no anger, no frustration, no ‘why is Syria going through this, why is this happening in Gaza?’ We had no idea.”

She described the family as “heartbroken” but feared more parents would be subjected to the same heartache because of the existence of extremist websites.

“If she is in Syria, for her to become a thing, they say, Jihadi bride – if that is the thing Yusra did then internet grooming is definitely the case because where would this come from?” she said.

“We don’t want her to go to Syria and marry some unknown man, God knows who he is or what kind of guy he is or what kind of crime he’s done or God knows what’s in his head. It didn’t come from us, where did it come from?

“We have to be all scared. If these powerful people are out there and they can brainwash these children or 15 or 19-year-olds to leave their own home then they are very powerful people.

“There will be more girls and boys leaving Britain or any other European country.”

On the day of her disappearance she told her family she was leaving early for a school trip but was not seen again.

Friends of Yusra claim to have spoken with her over the last few days via Facebook messages in which she said is “safe and happy in her new life” but refused to say where she was.

Yusra, who is of Somali descent, is thought to have met up with a 17-year-old girl from London and headed to Turkey, where police believe they attempted to cross the border into the neighbouring war-torn state.

Family friends described her as an aspiring dentist and grade A* student who was devoted to her education.

The girls’ disappearance follows that of twins Zahra and Salma Halane, 16, from Manchester, who are thought to have travelled to Syria in July.

British authorities have expressed increasing concerns about hundreds of UK-born would-be jihadis who have gone to join Islamist forces in the Middle Eastern state.

Ms Ali added: “We want her to know she hasn’t done anything wrong. Wherever she is we love her still.

“She’s not in any trouble. She won’t be arrested. We just want her to come back to the UK.”
