NYC: Muslim Leaders Condemn AFDI Ads But Not the Jihadists, Beheaders, Ethnic Cleansers …

Notorious antisemite Linda Sarsour is holding a press conference right now to condemn our ad campaign designed to increase awareness of the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, and put an end to the denial and willful ignorance about that threat, so that we adopt of effective counter-terror measures based on that realistic appraisal.

This is not the first time Linda Sarsour has tried to take me on and failed.

Why isn’t this press conference, or any other press conference, addressing how the alleged misunderstanding of Islam represented by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, al-Shabaab, etc., became so widespread, and what Muslims who profess to reject this view of Islam are doing about it? Why are so many more American, British, and European Muslims than ever joined al Qaeda joining the Islamic State? Islamic jihadists are murdering, raping, enslaving and more, in the name of Islam. I am running ads. Why is the condemnation focused on me rather than on the jihadists?

They are so quick to call a conference or protest against our work, but why don’t they respond with the same speed, vim and vigor when jihadists in Nigeria, the CAR, Thailand, Gaza, Iraq, Syria wage holy war in the cause of jihad?

Why didn’t these Muslim groups call a press conference to institute programs that teach against the ideology that gave rise to the Islamic State? Right now, nothing is being done to stop jihad recruiting in US mosques, even as several hundred young Muslims from the US have gone to wage jihad for the Islamic State. If the moderates really reject extremism, let them show it by instituting genuine programs to teach against this view of Islam.

Why do these Muslim groups devote resources, time, and funding, and create coalitions to silence the opposition to jihad? Why don’t they devout all that energy to exposing and expunging the Islamic teachings that inspire and command jihad? Why attack me? Why not attack the jihad recruiters that poison the minds of young Muslims? Shouldn’t these groups and elected politicians and sycophants go after them instead of me?

What’s more, the Islamic State and al Qaeda have recently vowed to attack New York City. The Islamic State has called for the wholesale murder of Americans. They called for Muslims in America, “lone wolves,” to attack this city. They printed instructions in their glossy magazine. And when the future caliph was released from a U.S. detention center in Iraq, he warned his former captors, “I’ll see you in New York.” If these Muslims, “faith leaders” and elected officials really want to take on genuine hatred and bigotry, they should be taking on the jihadists instead of the defenders of freedom. Our ads are no more “bigotry” than resistance to the Nazis was “bigotry,” and if these Muslims, faith leaders and elected officials really oppose tyranny, hatred and violence, they should be standing with us. Beheadings are hate. Ethnic cleansing of non-Muslims and religious minorities under the Sharia is hate. Islamic Jew-hatred and calls for Allah to destroy all the Jews are hate. Honor killings and clitoridectomies are hate. The attack on free speech from the Muslims, faith leaders, elected officials and Mayor de Blasio is hate.

“What we’re seeing is more of the same,” said Hoda Elshishtawy, a “national policy analyst” at the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

“They absolutely have the right to put up this hateful message because of the First Amendment,” she said. “It’s disgusting the way they choose to wrongfully represent a religion. Obviously the group is just out there to promote their own hate and their own twisted view of how they view Islam and Muslims.” (Al Jazeera)

(NEW YORK, NY 9/22/14) – On Tuesday, September 23rd, at 11:00 am, New York City Muslim leaders, hate crime victims (Professor Prabhjot Singh and Manaf Alam of Tayyiba Islamic Center), faith leaders and elected officials will gather on the steps of City Hall to denounce the anti-Muslim hate advertisements to be posted on NYC subway stations and MTA buses. These hate advertisements take place as concerns around ISIS generate fear, hatred, and bigotry in the United States misdirected at American Muslims, Arab, Sikh and South Asian Americans. The divisive ads also come at a time when NYC is experiencing an increase in bias attacks citywide. Since July 1st, 2014, there have been a total of 14 hate crimes that have targeted the Muslim community. Attendees will call on New Yorkers to speak out strongly in our schools, workplaces, community organizations and houses of worship against bigotry, wherever it may occur; and to demand strong responses and action from government leaders to ensure the safety and security of American Muslim New Yorkers and other impacted communities.
