The shutdown is a good thing

Exclusive: Pamela Geller blasts Democrat for incorrect use of word 'jihad'

Last
week, a Democrat finally used the word “jihad.” A new realism about the
greatest threat that America faces today? No. Rep. George Miller,
D-Calif., used the word to describe not Islamic jihad terrorism (Miller
wouldn’t be caught dead using it that way, I’m sure), but the
Republicans’ principled stand against Obamacare and for the American
people.

Story continues below advertisement

You can’t make this stuff up. I have never heard a Democrat use the word jihad. Until now.

Meanwhile, as the shutdown dragged on, it was revealed that those who
are bent on forcing Obamacare on us don’t have to suffer it themselves.
Congress is exempt from Obamacare, but I have to have that cr-p? Anyone
who works for the state gets special treatment. The great unwashed? The
hoi polloi? The bourgeoisie? Not so much.

The average staffer makes a salary between $75,000 and $150,000, and they complain that they can’t afford health care.

Why should the American people be the only victims of Obamacare?

Why
shouldn’t the Congress and FOO (Friends of Obama) who were given
exemptions to this disaster have to suffer the consequences of
socialized medicine?

And so the government is shut down, except for essential services – like sending the CIA to Syria to train al-Qaida jihadists.
Yes, there is plenty of money for that, and for sending armed guards to
keep Americans away from memorials and monuments that don’t have as
many staff members when they’re operating as they have now to make sure
people know they’re closed.

This is consistent with Obama’s pattern to punish the American
people. Time and time again, when the petulant president doesn’t get it
his way and his way only, he strikes out at the American people.

Last week he outdid himself, threatening 80- and 90-year-old vets with jail if they visited their memorial, an open-air memorial honoring their sacrifice. The Weekly Standard
reported that “police ordered tourists and Vietnam war veterans who
were visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to leave the memorial
at one point on Friday.”

If the shutdown drags on, I hope he does arrest these heroes. Obama
does everything for PR effect, so let him try doing something that
outrageous. Perhaps younger vets won’t take to it too kindly, and this
will be the shot heard ’round the world.

Obama even closed the U.S. D-Day cemetery in France. Families can’t
visit their dead loved ones, fallen heroes. Obama is proving to be
beyond heartless, beyond unpatriotic, beyond ungrateful. This is evil.

It’s also absurd. Mike Flynn reported in Breitbart that “just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains
in Florida that the Florida Bay was ‘closed’ due to the shutdown. Until
government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from
taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also
prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.”

Yes – he’s closing the ocean. It would be laughable if it weren’t so arrogant and cruel. An unnamed park ranger revealed: “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

That should be the epitaph of the Obama administration.

Is he trying to bait veterans and patriots into doing something he will try to use against them?

And it’s not as if he doesn’t know that his socialized medicine
legislation is a disaster. Where he once strutted like a peacock and
encouraged (demanded) that the legislation be called Obamacare feeding
his insatiable ego, now he knows that it is a nightmare, and is trying
desperately to “rebrand” Obamacare as the Affordable Care Act. Of
course, his media machine goose-stepped to Dear Leader’s command. WND reported
that “two of America’s largest mainstream media outlets have decided
reporters should cut down on the use of the term ‘Obamacare,’ fearing
it’s gotten too negative of a connotation” – Associated Press and
National Public Radio.

The media continues to do Obama’s bidding and paint the shutdown as
entirely the GOP’s fault. One of the Republicans who was determined to
fight back was Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., who scolded CNN’s
Ashleigh Banfield: “You’re telling your listeners that we Republicans
are holding this up, and the government is going to shut down. We have
actually reached out to the Democrats with a compromise position.”

Banfield answered: “Congressman, that’s not fair. Don’t you dare put
this back on me. You know full well you attacked Obamacare and defunding
it.”

But Rohrabacher was not intimidated: “Am I a guest on a news show, or
are you here to give us a tirade? Let me finish my sentence. Excuse me,
do your listeners understand this is the same thing we’re putting up
with in the Senate? We offer a compromise, they won’t even talk to us
about it. You won’t even talk to us about it. Whose bidding are you
doing?”

Every Republican should be made to watch this as part of their basic
media training of dealing with the enemedia in the war of ideas. This is
the battlefield. Brilliant.

But the Blame-the-Republicans game continued. What else is new? It’s
what they do. But if the Democrats would agree to Congress participating
in this fiasco along with the rest of us, the shutdown would be over.
Everyone goes down with this ship.

Instead, Obama keeps insisting
that he absolutely does not have to negotiate anything. How
presidential! How representative of all the people! If a Republican
president ever behaved in such an autocratic manner, he would be fed to
the sharks.

Thomas Sowell said it best: “There is really nothing complicated
about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives
voted all the money required to keep all government activities going –
except for Obamacare. … Sen. Reid and President Obama refuse to accept
the money required to run the government, because it leaves out the
money they want to run Obamacare, that is their right. But that is also
their responsibility. You cannot blame other people for not giving you
everything you want. And it is a fraud to blame them when you refuse to
use the money they did vote, even when it is ample to pay for everything
else in the government.”

Republicans are coming under enormous pressure and withering
criticism for their principled stand that everyone – even the ruling
political class – has to suffer Obamacare. They cannot escape. It is up
to us to stand behind the Republicans who are standing up for us. Call,
write, email your support. Send articles to your uninformed friends. Be
the media. Strike back at Obama’s most powerful political organization,
the mainstream media.

As for Obama’s fear mongering, I think he summed up the problem
nicely when he said that “the federal government is America’s largest
employer.” That, Sir, is the problem.

One last thing about the shutdown: Does this mean that the government isn’t spending even more of our hard-earned money? Good.

It appears that OUR Government is spending more of OUR tax dollars to deny us access to OUR memorials, parks and monuments then they did in maintaining them in “normal” times!
