Turkey enraged at Vatican for Pope’s remarks on Armenian Genocide

20

Uh, Armenians are upset about the jihad slaughter of millions of Armenians. This Islamic denial of their historic bloodlust and their subsequent bullying is pure supremacism. Savage.

Do Muslims expect the sanction of their victims?

The Armenian genocide took place under Turkey’s Islamic Ottoman
Empire, during and after WWI. "Out of an approximate population of two
million, some 1.5 million Armenians died. If early 20th
century Turkey had the apparatuses and technology to execute in
mass—such as 1940s Germany’s gas chambers—the entire Armenian population
may well have been annihilated. Most objective American historians who have studied the question unequivocally agree that it was a deliberate, calculated genocide." (more here)

Ankara upset at Vatican for pope’s remarks on mass killings of Armenians

Turkey has reacted angrily to the Vatican following a statement from
Pope Francis describing the mass killings of Armenians during World War
I as “the first genocide of the twentieth century” during a meeting
with a delegation led by Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics on
June 3.

“The Turkish Foreign Ministry delivered Turkey’s views on the issue and expressed disappointment to the embassy in Ankara and Vatican in Rome,” a Turkish diplomat told the Hürriyet Daily News on June 7.

Pope
Francis described the mass killings of Armenians during World War I as
“the first genocide of the 20th century” during a meeting with a
delegation led by Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics on June 3.

The
pope met with members of the delegation and when one of them said that
she was a descendant of genocide victims, he replied, “The first
genocide of the 20th Century was that of the Armenians,” reiterating his
earlier recognition of the mass killings as “Armenian Genocide” while
he was the head of the Catholic Church in Buenos Aires as a cardinal.

In
2006, during events marking the 91st anniversary of the killings in
Buenos Aires, he had urged Turkey to recognize “the genocide” as the
“gravest crime of Ottoman Turkey against the Armenian people and the
entire humanity.”

Commenting on the issue, Armenian Apostolic
Church Diocese of Gougark Bishop Sebouh Chuljyan Primate said, “The pope
is speaking out a historical truth. Turkey needs to see the pains and
should face the genocide,” he told the Hürriyet Daily News, adding that
the archives of the Vatican may be opened to investigate the issue
further.

The director of the Armenian National Committee of
South America, Alfonso Tabakian, explained that this was the first such
statement from the pontiff since being elevated to pope and leader of
the Roman Catholic Church.

Tabakian called the statement “very
important since his words transcend any state or religion,” according to
the Armenian weekly website.

On the other hand, if we are going to quote Bernard Lewis, take a look at what he has to say about the goals of Islam. He is in essentially complete agreement with Pamela and with Robert Spencer:

It’s asking a lot of ordinary Turks to accept collective responsibility for this dark episode which largely took place under Ottoman rule and before the reforms of Ataturk. I say largely, because the maltreatment of Armenians did not end with the founding of the Turkish republic, but it did subside, along with the international reforms agreed to by Ataturk, including the Treaty of Lausanne, which among other things continued the population exchange of ethnic Greek Turks (i.e, Eastern Orthodox Christians) to Greece and ethnic Turkish Greeks (i.e. Muslims) to Turkey. Today this might be called ethnic cleansing but it made war between Greece and Turkey far less likely.
The entire era is soaked with tears and blood but we came out of it with much clearer borders and national identities including Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Bulgarian, and others. Above all the Ottoman holy warriors were now shackled and the Turks were determined to forge a national identity separate from the powers, great and not so great, that had previously existed. That’s the up side, such as it is.
The down side is that this kind of nationalism, unlike the nationalism of shared values embodied in the U.S. Constitution, is the tribal nationalism of ethnicity. Attacks on the actions of one’s tribal leaders – even those long dead — can be and often are viewed as attacks on one’s physical identity, one’s genetic inheritance, not to mention ones culture, language, etc. That’s why acknowledgements, apologies, and reparations for the wrongs of one’s grand and great-grandparents’ generation can be harder than acknowledging one’s personal wrongs, which is hard enough, especially in a “shame” culture where the concern with one’s personal, family and tribal “honor” are, to modern Western sensibilities, irrationally obsessive.
But of course it is still the right thing to do, and there are quite a few Turks with what we would call modern Western sensibilities who have made such acknowledgements, some of whom have been punished socially, professionally, and so on, for doing so. In an issue like this, condemnation of the genocide denial may be appropriate but persuasion by patient presentation of the evidence will be far more effective, assuming of course that Erdogan and his Islamic Brotherhood buddies do not succeed in transforming Turkey into a colony of Seventh-Century Arabia. If that happens the Armenian genocide will no longer merely be denied, it will be transformed by Islamic supremacist propaganda into another great victory for Allah, and eventually the Armenians to the east will be given one last opportunity to convert to Islam or die.
We should support the Turkish patriots who want to restore the Republic to Ataturk’s vision.

The genocide wasn’t targeted at Armenians perse but to the Christian population which was made up of Armenians,Greek and Syrian.
GREEKS
1914 400,000 conscripts perished in forced labor brigades
1922 100,000 massacred or burned alive in Smyrna
1916-1922 350,000 Pontions massacred or killed during forced deportations
1914-1922 900,000 perish from maltreatment, starvation and massacres; total of all other areas of Asia Minor
TOTAL: 1,750,000 Greek Christians martyred 1914-1922
ARMENIANS
1894-1896 300,000 massacred
1915-1916 1,500,000 perish in massacres and forced deportations (with subsidiaries to 1923)
1922 30,000 massacred or burned alive in Smyrna
TOTAL: 1,800,000 Armenian Christians martyred 1894-1923
SYRIANS AND NESTORIANS
1915-1917 100,000 Christians massacred
Ethnic Greeks, uprooted from their ancestral home of 3,000 years, were the first to be victimized in what in Greece is called, the “Great Catastrophe.” During the first six months of 1914, a concerted effort began to exterminate Greeks with the goal of clearing them out of Asia Minor to make room for Muslim refugees from the Balkans. All Greek men, aged 18 to 50, were ordered to report for military duty. They were incorporated into the Ottoman army then transferred to labor battalions where they died by the thousands of exposure, cold, hunger and deprivation.
House-to-house searches were conducted for firearms. Greeks were taken from their homes, deported and massacred. Greek men and women were tortured and accused of disloyalty to the Ottoman government. Women and girls were raped and forced to convert to Islam. Boys and girls were kidnapped and transported into the interior of the Empire.

My Armenian friend’s grandmother was enslaved during the islamonazi genocide on Christians committed by Turkish scuzzlums. She was only spared because she was a pretty young thing and rape was part of her enslavement plan at the hands of the Turkish scuzzlums. How she escaped her enslavement I never found out.

The Turkish scuzzlums have NEVER stopped their persecution of people of other faiths — from the Istanbul pogrom of the 1950’s, to the invasion and ethnic cleansing of Cyprus, to the two synagogues blown up in Turkey in 2003, Turkey has always been an islamofascist theocracy. I’d rather arm Armenia, Cyprus and Greece than give the Turkish scuzzlums one iota of support of any kind whatsoever.

Bishop Francis is gravely mistaken. The Germans were committing genocide in South West Africa in 1904 against the Herero people.Germany admitted this in 2004.There were 105,000 Herero killed by Gen.Lothar von Trotha who was given a heros welcome back in Berlin. This has obvious implications for the Shoah.Google `german south west africa`to find details.

What is Turkish for:
(1) It did not happen.
(2) We did not know.
(3) We were not there.
(4) We were only following orders.
Maybe Abraham Foxman of the ADL could help the Nazis 1915 Turks out with this.
