Canada: Thug Police call Rabbi a Liar

37

The National Post is running a story (look at the agenda driven picture they use) claiming that the goosestepping police that threatened the Chabad Rabbi over my scheduled talk didn’t really threaten him at all.

The fascist cop, Insp. Ricky Veerappan, already admitted that they threatened the rabbi with his removal from the York chaplaincy, so how does the National Post run a headline like this? The police thug admits it in this article:

“If he had not cancelled the event – and again, that was his decision
– then we would have had to re-evaluate his relationship with York
Regional Police because it would be clearly be in contravention of the
values of our organization,” said Insp. Veerappan
.

Story continues below advertisement

Values? So this thug supports gender apartheid, creed apartheid, misogyny, honor killings, clitordectomies, et al?

Police dispute allegations that there were any threats of
intimidation, saying instead that “a discussion” took place…

“A discussion.” Who does this sharia enforcer think he is? Don Corleone?

The Rabbi is staying quiet. You would, too, if you had these SA-types on your tail.

“Police deny pressuring rabbi to cancel speech by controversial U.S. anti-Islamist blogger Pamela Geller” National Post, May 3, 2013

Jewish activists say a Toronto-area rabbi has been pressured by an
area police force to change plans to host a controversial anti-Islamist
speaker, prompting accusations the force is squelching free speech.

Rabbi Mendel Kaplan, of the Chabad @ Flamingo Synagogue, cancelled
plans to host a talk by Pamela Geller, an American blogger known for her
criticism of Islam. She is co-founder of Stop Islamification [sic] of
America, a group that opposes the proposed building of a mosque at
Ground Zero and sponsors anti-Islamic ads in U.S. cities.

Police dispute allegations that there were any threats of
intimidation, saying instead that “a discussion” took place Tuesday
between Insp. Ricky Veerappan
, leader of the York Regional Police
force’s diversity, equity and inclusion bureau, and Rabbi Kaplan, who is
also a volunteer chaplain with the force. Insp. Veerappan said that
during their discussion, the rabbi was presented with more information
and a decision.

“If he had not cancelled the event – and again, that was his decision
– then we would have had to re-evaluate his relationship with York
Regional Police because it would be clearly be in contravention of the
values of our organization,” said Insp. Veerappan
.

“Our concern is that Rabbi Kaplan is also a representative of the
police, he wears a police uniform, and some of the comments that have
been attributed to Ms. Geller really posed a conflict situation for us
at York Regional Police.”

The force chaplaincy, to which Rabbi Kaplan belongs, falls under the
police bureau of diversity, equity and inclusion, which aims to promote
diversity and cultural education in York Region. There are eight
chaplains who represent the area’s five largest faith groups.

Insp. Veerappan said Rabbi Kaplan made the decision to cancel his
Thornhill synagogue’s hosting of the May 13 talk, which has since been
relocated to the Toronto Zionist Centre.

A receptionist at the Chabad @ Flamingo Synagogue said Rabbi Kaplan
was not available Thursday and would not be speaking to media.

The American Freedom Defense Initiative

The American Freedom Defense InitiativeA poster that was placed in New York City’s subway system in 2012 by a group run by Pamela Geller.

Meir Weinstein, director of the Jewish Defence League, the hardline group sponsoring the event, told the National Post he was shocked and mystified as to why the police got involved.

“They took a position against Pamela Geller – our right to have her to speak.”

Salim Mansur, a tenured professor at Western University, wrote a
letter to police Chief Eric Jolliffe, criticizing what he considers a
constraint on free speech.

“Are we turning into one of those Third World countries where a
police chief can pick up the phone and tell a free institution, in this
case a religious institution, that you can not do this and you can do
this?” he said by phone on Thursday.

“I’m speaking here as a Muslim. I’m terribly angry and upset that
these people in the name of my religion and my tradition want to stop
somebody else from speaking.”

He suggested that those who took issue with Ms. Geller’s talk should simply bring in someone to counter her points.

“They have the right to complain but that doesn’t mean that right to
complain conflates into an action that goes against the very values
about this society,” he said.

Cara Zwibel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association agreed that
while instances where police infringe on free speech is certainly
problematic, intervention in this particular case may have been
warranted.

“In general, police involvement in deciding who can speak where and
when is something we are concerned about because it could have a big
impact on freedom of expression,” she said by e-mail Thursday.

“Having said that, in this case it appears the police force was
concerned that they might be seen as endorsing the speaker’s views
because of their relationship with the synagogue’s rabbi. In these
circumstances, I don’t think it is illegitimate for the police to raise
this concern with the rabbi intending to host the event.”

Another liberal exposed for the fascist she truly is.

some of the comments that have been attributed to Ms. Geller really posed a conflict situation for us at York Regional Police.
Could Insp. Veerappan have the intellectual integrity to state what comments attributed to Ms. Geller post a “conflict situation”? Who, may I ask, would be involved in said conflict? Or perhaps the unsubstantiated smear is more his stock in trade?
I admit, I don’t know much about life in countries in which the police can suppress public expression of religious and political matters. However, the several times I’ve visited Canada, primarily the Maritime Provinces, folks seemed pretty friendly, not the types who would, via intimidation, shut down the public square to civil discourse. Maybe the blind man and the elephant scenario at work here?

The Ottawa Citizen has an article slamming the York Regional Police decision to shut Pam Geller up, by blackmailing the rabbi, which states that Inspector Ricky Veerappan is a member of the muslim community. If he is a muslim, then every question in the book must be asked of him and the York Regional Police. This is the first time I have seen it written but if confirmed, let the lawsuits and shame begin. A question I would like answered. In earlier news reports, Isp. Ricky, such a friendly western name, and others, (who? name them) went to have a “discussion” with Rabbi Kaplan. Were they authorized by the Chief of Police and were they wearing uniforms, guns included? How would you, as one person, knowing the history of your people, feel?

Well, one thing’s for sure. The enemy is accomplishing their mission. They not only intimidated the Rabbi into submission, but it’s also not unlikely that he now ascribes to the view that Pam Geller is indeed, as they said, trouble. Would love to know what he’s thinking. Hopefully, this has been a wake up call for him and those in the Jewish community. But I doubt it.

Insp. Veerappan is in deep, deep, poo. First he slanders Pamela with lies then he threatens those who give her a forum. Such corruption and abuse of his position is about to derail his mediocre career.
Not only will Pamela Geller speak, she will speak to a much larger crowd because of all the publicity and Insp. Veerappan is exposed for his bully tactics.

Everyone is saying what a good man this poor bullied Rabbi is, but I say rubbish… he is not a good man…he is weak and spineless and has no place serving God to the public. He is a sham who is more concerned about his ‘illustrious position’ with the police force than defending the truth under God. Disgusting. Pam is the defender of the truth spoken by God, not this schmuck Rabbi.

Now I have a question for Cara Zwibel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. You believe it is legitimate for a police ‘hate crime’ hall monitor to interfere with a nonMuslim speaking critically of Islam and true believers. Would it be legitimate for Ricky the hall monitor to interfere with a Muslim group bringing a Muslim speaker who is well known to say hateful things about infidels, especially the Jews? Just asking Cara.

You are either unable to comprehend English or dishonest neither of which represent freedom. Miss Gellar continues to defend Muslim victims of Islamism, especially victims of “honour killings”, and no where has she ever said anything that could honestly be understood as anti-Muslim or anti-Islam. She is very much anti-Jihad and anti-Islamo-fascism, and if you understood anything about freedom you would be too.

York Regional Police have a very LOOOOONNNGGG history of Anti-Semitic crimes and siding with radical Muslim. The money base in Vaughan, York Region is in favor of Muslims unfortunately. A huge Muslim community was built in Maple (York Region). It’s like mini-Islamabad there.

While I join the other readers in condemning the Police response to this I would like to know why the Rabbi did not simply resign his position with the Police in protest.
Why was it so important for a Chabad Rabbi to keep a position as Chaplain with the York Region police? Isn’t the role of Chabad to bring Jews back to Judaism?
The fact is that Rabbi Kaplan was not under any physical threat. He was simply told that he would not be able to keep a voluntary position with the force if he chose to host Ms Geller’s appearance.
The proper response to this would have been so say “Nice working with you guys but I am not giving up my democratic right to hear Pamela Geller speak.”
Rabbi Kaplan’s response leaves alot to be desired.

Tis should be thought at all Canadian public schools, from the elementary to university levels!
I. PEACE, VIOLENCE, AND ABROGATION
Muslims in the West are quick to point to passages such as Qur’an 109:6 (“You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion”) and 2:256 (“There is no compulsion in religion”) as evidence that Islam is a religion of peace. When confronted with harsher passages such as 9:5 (“Slay the idolaters wherever you find them”) and 9:29 (“Fight those who believe not in Allah”), Westernized Muslims interpret these verses in light of the more peaceful teachings of the Qur’an, typically saying something like: “Well, the Qur’an can’t be commanding us to kill unbelievers, since it says that there’s no compulsion in religion.”
Hence, Westernized Muslims pick the verses of the Qur’an they find most attractive, and they use these verses to sanitize the rest of the Qur’an. But is this the correct way to interpret the Qur’an? Unfortunately, the answer is no. The Qur’an presents its own method of interpretation—the Doctrine of Abrogation.
Qur’an 2:106—Whatever verse we shall abrogate, or cause [thee] to forget, we will bring a better than it, or one like unto it. Dost thou not know that God is almighty?
Qur’an 16:101—When We substitute one revelation for another—and God knows best what He reveals (in stages)—they say, “Thou art but a forger”: but most of them understand not.
According to the Qur’an, then, when Muslims are faced with conflicting commands, they aren’t supposed to pick the one they like best. Rather, they are to go to history and see which verse was revealed last. Whichever verse came last is said to abrogate (or cancel) earlier revelations.
What happens when we apply this methodology to Qur’anic verses on peace and violence?
II. THE CALL TO JIHAD: THREE STAGES
When we turn to Islam’s theological sources and historical writings (Qur’an, Hadith, Sira, and Tafsir), we find that there are three stages in the call to Jihad, depending on the status of Muslims in a society.
STAGE ONE—When Muslims are completely outnumbered and can’t possibly win a physical confrontation with unbelievers, they are to live in peace with non-Muslims and preach a message of tolerance. We see an example of this stage when Muhammad and his followers were a persecuted minority in Mecca. Since the Muslims were entirely outnumbered, the revelations Muhammad received during this stage (e.g. “You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion”) called for religious tolerance and proclaimed a future punishment (rather than a worldly punishment) for unbelievers.
STAGE TWO—When there are enough Muslims and resources to defend the Islamic community, Muslims are called to engage in defensive Jihad. Thus, when Muhammad had formed alliances with various groups outside Mecca and the Muslim community had become large enough to begin fighting, Muhammad received Qur’an 22:39-40:
Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed, and most surely Allah is well able to assist them; Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause except that they say: our Lord is Allah. . . .
Although Muslims in the West often pretend that Islam only allows defensive fighting, later revelations show otherwise.
STAGE THREE—When Muslims establish a majority and achieve political power in an area, they are commanded to engage in offensive Jihad. Hence, once Mecca and Arabia were under Muhammad’s control, he received the call the fight all unbelievers. In Surah 9:29, we read:
Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
Notice that this verse doesn’t order Muslims to fight oppressors, but to fight those who don’t believe in Islam (including the “People of the Book”—Jews and Christians).
Not surprisingly, we find similar commands in Islam’s most trusted collections of ahadith (traditions containing Muhammad’s teachings).
Sahih al-Bukhari 6924—Muhammad said: “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and whoever said La ilaha illahllah, Allah will save his property and his life from me.”
Sahih Muslim 30—Muhammad said: “I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah.”
Here again, the criterion for fighting people is that the people believe something other than Islam.
It’s clear, then, that when Muslims rose to power, peaceful verses of the Qur’an were abrogated by verses commanding Muslims to fight people based on their beliefs. Islam’s greatest scholars acknowledge this. For instance, Ibn Kathir (Islam’s greatest commentator on the Qur’an) sums up Stage Three as follows: “Therefore all people of the world should be called to Islam. If anyone of them refuses to do so, or refuses to pay the Jizyah, they should be fought till they are killed.”
III. WHEN MUSLIMS REACH STAGE THREE
Abrogation also accounts for shifting attitudes regarding Jews and Christians in the Qur’an. While Muslims are to be friendly to Jews and Christians when the former are outnumbered, the Islamic position changes when Muslims reach Stage Three, at which point Christians and Jews are to recognize their inferior status and pay the Jizyah (a payment made to Muslims in exchange for not being killed by them). Consider some of Muhammad’s later teachings about Christians and Jews:
Qur’an 5:51—O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.
Qur’an 9:30—And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!
Qur’an 98:6—Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein. They are the worst of creatures.
Sahih Muslim 4366—Muhammad said: “I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.”
Al-Bukhari, Al-Adab al-Mufrad 1103—Muhammad said: “Do not give the People of the Book the greeting first. Force them to the narrowest part of the road.”
Needless to say, these teachings can hardly be considered peaceful or tolerant.
IV. MUSLIMS IN THE WEST
Since Muhammad obviously commanded his followers to fight unbelievers (simply for being unbelievers), why do Muslims in the West deny this? Here we must turn to Surah 3:28, which reads:
Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security.
According to this verse (which uses a variation of the word Taqiyya, meaning “concealment”), Muslims are not allowed to be friends with non-Muslims. However, if Muslims feel threatened by a stronger adversary, they are allowed to pretend to be friendly. Ibn Kathir comments: “In this case, such believers are allowed to show friendship outwardly but never inwardly.” Abu Darda, one of Muhammad’s companions, put it this way: “We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them.”
Is Islam a religion of peace? No. Islam is a religion that pretends to be peaceful when Muslims are too weak to win a war. Of course, there are many Muslims who aren’t violent. Many Muslims in the West love peace and tolerance. But they didn’t get these values from Islam. They got them from the West, and now they’re reinterpreting Islam based on their Western values. For dedicated Muslims, however, there are only two possible situations to be in: (1) fighting unbelievers, and (2) pretending to be peaceful while preparing to fight unbelievers. Either way, fighting non-Muslims and conquering the world in the name of Allah is always the goal.

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
