The Village Voice’s war on …… Pamela Geller

35
Voice

Front page Village Voice – gotta love the pic they used, eh? I guess they haven't much use for subtlety.

Story continues below advertisement

The Voice did a piece on me, and as hit pieces go, it's sort of sickly sweet, in that lefty poisonous way, of course. Most of the personal stuff is wrong; I am guessing he got that from the NY Times cover story that ran back in October 2010. It's a silly piece. Pity, I thought Greg Howard might rise above the leftist dogma and write something worthwhile.

Atlas readers will have a good chuckle. I know I did. I am not fisking it. It would be too time consuming. So much wrong, too little time. There are the usual wild falsehoods about my supposedly receiving fantastic sums of money, and crazy distortions of my message, such as his claim that I said that Islam is going to "overrun" the U.S. "not in
decades or years but in months." Oh, really? When did I ever say such a thing? It's impossibly bad, in a sophomoric kind of way. Howard's writing reminds me of Ed Wood directing. It's oddly endearing, she said, "batting her eyelashes."

At the same time it's dripping with the usual leftist condescension toward conservatives, the tea party, anyone and everyone who stands for freedom, combined with a dollop of catty misogyny ("trophy wife," "her beauty and her charm [are] her main weapons" — say what?)

Also, I never said the war was lost. I said we lost in the last election. And that we did.

"Pamela Geller's War" Greg Howard, Village Voice

Eleven years ago, Pamela Geller declared war on savages who
were trying to take over the world. This November, she admits she lost.

Geller, 54, one of the most polarizing women in the country, is but a
foot soldier in this war—a cog, but a large one that grows larger every
day. When I meet her at an upscale coffee shop blocks away from her
tony midtown apartment, she is in full combat gear.

"You're a kid!" she cries when I reach out to shake her hand. Her
Long Island accent, thick from her childhood, is distracting from the
start. I'm not a kid, but I decide it doesn't matter, because she's
absolutely giddy. Geller's mouth is parted in a silent laugh, and she
raises both of her hands like she doesn't know whether to hug me or
touch my face. I feel like a baby Labrador. It's not a terrible feeling.

We buy coffee and take a table near the back of the shop.

There's a reason why Pamela Geller's name is almost invariably
preceded by "The Beautiful" at her speaking events. Today, she's wearing
a chic leather jacket over a form-fitting black turtleneck, and her
trademark diamond-encrusted "Love" charm is hanging from a necklace.
She's wearing loose curls, tawny locks falling over her shoulder. It's
almost December, and even though she posts 10 to 15 times a day from
home on her wildly successful blog, atlasshrugs2000.com,
her golden skin is still sun-kissed, and her large light-brown eyes
peer from behind impossible eyelashes that rest upon her sculpted
cheekbones whenever she blinks or winks or bats her eyes at the kid 30
years her junior.

When she speaks, she does so passionately, leaning in and lowering
her voice, then pushing back in her chair and pointing with both hands.
She never breaks eye contact, even to take a sip from her
lip-gloss-smudged coffee lid. When we agree on a point or I amuse her
with a quip or turn of phrase, she applauds. She's charming, magnetic
even. I decide I like her, and then I decide that I hope she likes me.

She's viewed by "leftists," as she calls her critics, as a monster,
the animalistic id of the racist, paranoid right, a supremacist leader
of arguably the most extreme wing in the Tea Party, who knowingly
interacts with bigots and xenophobes. She's the face, literally, of the
Southern Poverty Law Center's national anti-Muslim hate-group page. Of
the six New York City anti-Muslim groups listed on the page, she founded
three of them herself (Stop the Islamization of America, the American
Freedom Defense Initiative, and her blog, Atlas Shrugs). Most recently,
she has drawn ire for a series of public-transit ads she has run in New
York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Most read: "In any
war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man.
Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

Geller fights her war on two fronts. The first is against Islam
itself, which she calls "the most radical and extreme ideology on the
face of the earth." The second is against Barack Obama. Geller, a
secular Jew, is a pro-choice, pro-marriage-equality Manhattanite raised
by liberal parents. But when it comes to the president, Geller holds
nothing back. She has devoted the past four years of her life to
fighting his re-election, because the war is already here, and we've
already lost if the most powerful man on the planet is, as she calls
him, "an Islamophiliac": a lover of Islam.

She helped launch the birther movement before the president was even
elected. And in a 2009 blog post, she wrote that Obama had slept with a
crack whore and posted nude photos of Obama's mother, supposedly taken
in 1960 by alleged black communist Frank Marshall Davis. They turned out
to be fakes. Keith Olbermann has twice named her Worst Person in the
World. In 2010, she led protests against the Islamic community center
near Ground Zero and published a book with her openly anti-Muslim
partner in crime, Robert Spencer, called The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War on America. She stops short of calling Obama a Muslim in public, though she tells me, "He clearly favors Islam."

Looking at her now, though, she doesn't seem like a monster. I
know it's all for show, of course, her beauty and her charm. They're
her main weapons in the war, along with her website, and how she has
been able to navigate and thrive in the far-right,
old-white-man-dominated world of the Tea Party and the American
anti-Islam movement. When you're a symbol, appearances matter. And her
very appearance, the fact that someone like her—a pretty, secular,
socially liberal New Yorker—would be on the front lines of the war, adds
credibility to the cause.

The Village Voice, like all the big city Weeklies now is a ‘free’ paper. Why? Because they make most of their money from page after page pimping prostitutes, ‘massages’, S&M dungeons, ‘escort services’, ‘she-males’, etc. I cannot take them too seriously. The newspaper of choice for whores, johns and looters who hate America and religiously….read Dan Savage’s sex column.

Greg Howard writes:
“Two planes hit the towers, and one hit the Pentagon. A fourth, United Airlines Flight 93 from Newark to San Francisco, was hijacked as well and steered toward Washington, D.C. But the passengers fought the JIHADI terrorists, and the plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.”
So wait. It’s OKAY if GREG HOWARD calls the 9-11 hijackers: “Jihadi terrorists”. But when Pamela uses the word “Jihad” in her posters, every one accuses her of being racist because, of course, what she REALLY MEANS is “MUSLIM”. So Greg. For the record. Did YOU really mean “Muslim” Terrorists”?
Just wondering…

On a cursory reading this looks like a fair review.
But the entire Arab/Muslim culture — not just Palestinians and jihadists — is of the savage.
Even the very few who are, beneath their veils of deception, truly acceptable in our advanced, liberal, literate culture and society, are irrevocably from and of a brutal, sinister, vengeful, fearful and opaque culture of the ancient past. And you can take the caveman out of the cave but you can’t take the cave out of the caveman.
As one poster on AtlasShrugs so lucidly and truthfully said: “You cannot be a Muslim AND an American; one or the other, but not both.”

What kind of sexist horseshit descriptions are within those opening paragraphs? If the interview subject was a guy, would he have taken that tack? “Tawny locks”… “sun-kissed skin”… “impossibly-long eyelashes”????? Pamela is very pretty but is that the point of this interview, or the critically-serious subject within?

@Chris Wolf — I see that you are being disingenuous in your remarks because I don’t recall anyone ever saying you can’t be a Muslim and an American. Pamela repeatedly states she is not anti-Muslim. Being counter jihad isn’t about opposing Arab or Muslim culture, but about opposing the Koranic ideology which calls for violent jihad, the imposition of sharia law on non-Muslims, and Islamic supremacism as an ultimate aim. Many Muslim Americans are not strictly religious, observant, or even that knowledgeable about the Koran. Lots believe in a whitewashed version of Islam.

I wish I could remember the name of the poster/commenter here who said: You cannot be a Muslim AND an American: one or the other, but not both.
In my experience and from the same perspective I find this to be profoundly true. Of course there will always be exceptions to this and anything else.
But anyone who believes that Muslims come here with anything like the psychology, sensibility and humanity to ever understand what we Americans understand about life, freedom and others, those people have plenty of company in their blind robotic foolishness these days.
Another wise poster/commenter here once so truthfully said: They cannot add to our society; they can only subtract. (I would take credit for these lucid truths if I weren’t a natural born American and happy always to give credit where credit is due, rather than claim credit for something that was never mine.)
I don’t know what RCCA is all bent about. If you want to spend your time parsing “counter-jihad” from “anti-Muslim” be my guest. Your distraction, diversion and confusion will scarcely amount to a drop in the ocean.

My favorite line page 1, “she does’nt seem like a monster”. When the shit hits the fan, Greggie and his clueless, spineless libs will be the 1st to run to Pamela and the Tea Party Patriots for cover. They are fools. Thinking Pamela, Spencer and other Patriots are the enemy when the real enemy, the jihadists can’t wait to slaughter them.It is particularly sickening when the male gender has been neutered and have no balls or brains to identify and fight the real enemy of Freedom.

“In the far right old white man dominated teaparty” Pam you are to kind to this underhanded punk. The Teaparty I saw had a lot more than whitemen and if this asscrack is fortunate and the world is not he might be old himself one day. This common sense deprived young man should be named The Suicide Planner a spoof of the movie The Wedding Planner. I guess he thinks that with age comes stupidty and being white should be a criminal offense. What a foolish young tool.

I like Pamela’s style. I do the same as her by posting the terrible things wrought by islam but also show that I am a loving human-being that genuinely cares about others. I think the piece did a good job of showing the human side of Pamela. That helps shut down the critics and people will be more receptive to listening to the facts.

“Pious Muslims are the only ones who count…A Muslim who is not pious is not a Muslim at all, but a pretender…Pretenders will not enter Allah’s paradise…”
See? ‘Pretenders’ do not get to go to a pornographic paradise because they are not pious enough to want to kill others.
Even so, it’s illogical to take a billion people and call them all evil. There are many muslims who want nothing more than to live in peace, have a good business and make money so their kids can go to college. After a long day’s work they want to go home, relax and have their mother-in-law shut her pie-hole for half a second. What’s not to like?
It’s the oppressive jihadist I have a problem with. They are determined to bully people into their religion or murder them, they want to destroy Israel and target innocent Jewish families for death. They have zero respect for human life. The jihadists are monsters and they would happily savage the muslim family man trying to quietly go about his life if he speaks against terrorism. Anyone who gives verbal support to terrorists is an utter fool and reminds me of a cow happily going off to it’s slaughter. But I do understand why many muslims fear to speak out since those who do are the first to be targeted and killed by the evil jihadists.
To all peaceful muslims I wish you all good things and hope the jihadists stay far away from you. For the jihadists, you can go marry a goat. Leave the women alone.
One of the many big reasons I admire Pamela Geller is she is direct and honest. She’s not one of those fake women’s rights BS artists. She deeply cares about honor killings and abuse of the muslim female when the rest of the world does their best to ignore them.

The Atlas web address is wrong as they left out the typepad part, and I noticed he said “I am torn. . .” take a look at that paragraph, he is torn and confused near the end.
The Village Voice site stopped me on every page for ‘scripts’and when I finally made it through and was paging backwards, it completely knocked me off the site.

Pam, the only thing, (and I wholeheartedly mean this), the only thing this kid left out of his essay, is calling you a “MILF”.
You were generous enough to even oblige this child, so consider the source.
You should have warned him about how drinking coffee at such a young age can stunt ones growth, although, it may actually grow some chest hairs, if he is even old enough to shave, that is.

I noticed that too, there were a number of references to Pamela being beautiful, it was mentioned 5 or 6 times. I think there is a purpose to that: to better conceal the fact that the interview is a hit piece (instead of real journalism). To give the appearance of objectivity by saying a few nice things. A polite assassin. Like several other people, I noticed that the URL given for Atlas Shrugs was wrong, another indicator that piece is not journalism.

It’s always been fish wrap, so to speak. Was only good BITD for apartment hunting in the W. Village.
I also used to be a social liberal, Pamela. I was greatly dismayed when Giuliani, a social liberal, dropped out in ’08 because I was a witness to the incredible transformation he made of the formerly Dinkens-decrepit NYC. Having written that, I am now not only a fierce fiscal conservative, but a staunch social conservative as well. However, while we are still (nominally) Americans, I will defend tooth and nail your First Amendment right to lay claim to a secular outlook and socially conservative views. After all, it’s the American way, our (fading) constitutional right not to mention the fact that you do so much to awaken so many. So a (tongue-in-cheek) secular God bless. 🙂
With love and respect, Dagny
p.s. You should write him a (again, tongue-in-cheek) rebuttel signed, “Mrs. Robinson”.

It’s somewhat amusing to read this. Rather than taking an opportunity to actually learn anything from Pam, the writer wastes a few paragraphs on Pam’s appearance. She is SO MUCH MORE. Read her blog, it ROCKS! Her articles are impeccably well-researched, AND whenever she has found her OWN mistakes she ALWAYS corrects them. That is a rare, though. Every single American needs to learn about Pam, her work and her accomplishments. She IS changing the world, person by person. P.S.,, counterjihadists are NOT bigots, we are PATRIOTS, we love our country, our culture and all people.

Anyone with even HALF a clue would recognize that Pamela Geller’s primary weapons are her head full of BRAINS and her heart full of LOVE and FIRE!! PLUS, the woman ain’t got no QUIT in her! No MA’AM!
Pamela Geller, you are a world treasure and history will show that if you have too much of anything – it is your heart too filled with compassion.

Muslims…they’re peaceful…until they’re not.
To those of you posting that not all muslims are jihadist, I say, “So what?” Most believe in the ideology. As muslims numbers grow the killings commence.
There is no way of knowing what is in the muslims’ hearts. Most believe in muslims being supreme over non muslims. Most believe in shariah law. Jihad is only one of the problems with islam.
Don’t forget TAQIYYA…deceit in order to advance islam….how many of those “peaceful” muslims are simply engaging in taqiyya.

Does Greg Howard walk around nude under a trench coat all the time? He certainly writes as if he does. So creepy and oily. Nasty person!
Gullah, please believe me I understand the liberal use of taqiyya in these times and the horrible violence preached and practiced in islam and the many fools who cheer it on. I guess the only way to know what is in anyone’s heart is through their actions. Tongues lie and actions are truth.
I would say our argument lies with the violent hatemongers and not those who dream of a quiet life. I guess all self proclaimed ‘good’ muslims would call these people bad muslims because they are not violent or full of hate.

Annie

Hey Pamela, did you give him a copy of “the strategic plan for North America”?
Howard sounds like his column was written before he ever met you. And he apparently advocates misogyny, gay-hate, religious persecution, torture, murder, censorship, sex-segregated areas (which is what the Ground 0 mosque/”center” would have been)…
He must also advocate for Muslims suffering all of the above. He clearly does not care that Muslims suffer under Islamic extremism.
How else can anyone explain why people would be against Pamela/Atlas/Spencer, etc. simply reporting on fanatical Islamists’ atrocities?

Gullah
Gullah

Carmen, the muslims dreaming of a quiet life don’t matter…just like the peaceful Germans during WWII did not matter.
Most of the muslims dreaming of a quiet life still believe in sharia and think it’s fine to kill their daughters and sometimes their sons.
Winston Churchill summed up islam (I refuse to capitalize it) perfectly, “Islam in a man is like rabies in a dog”. It is poison pure and simple.
