Politico: “Free Speech vs Safe Rides”

_Defeat Jihad_ ads cause stir in D.C. - Burgess Everett and Adam Snider - POLITICO.com_1349188041553
A “defeat jihad” advertisement that represents the latest clash
between the nation’s commitment to free speech and its responsibility to
protect against terrorism is headed to a D.C. district court this week —
and possibly to Metro stations.

The American Freedom Defense
Initiative, an advocacy group that warns against the Islamization of
America, submitted advertisements for the New York City subway and the
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority system. The proposed
advertisement reads: “In any war between the civilized man and the
savage, support the civilized man,” with the tagline: “Support
Israel/Defeat Jihad.”

The Washington free speech hearing heats up. Politico's top story here:

FREE SPEECH VS. SAFE RIDES: Later this week, a district
court in D.C. will take on the same issue that was decided in New York
last week: Are Metro’s delay tactics on a “defeat jihad” advertisement a
violation of freedom of speech laws — and the Constitution? In New
York, the answer was squarely on the side of the American Freedom
Defense Initiative, leading to ads in the subway that were soon defaced
by protesters. That has Pamela Geller, AFDI’s executive director,
heartened that her ads will run soon in D.C., as well.

‘Absurd’: “My ads can run anytime,” Geller told MT.
“Their argument was absurd to begin with, as well as dangerous — it sets
the precedent that anyone who doesn't like some speech can be violent
about it and thereby shut it up.” According to court documents Team MT
pored over, Metro tasked its police chief, Michael Taborn, to review the
submitted ads in light of attacks on U.S. embassies sparked by a
shadowy Internet film. “Airing the AFDI ad in the Metrorail system,
while many Muslims are agitated as a result of the video, presents a
danger to WMATA’s patrons and its employees,” he wrote in court filings,
leading to the delay of the ad.

Taborn says Muslims get upset, therefore we must suppress free speech. Is that not the most idiotic defense? They will lose bigtime and waste taxpayer money.

“Airing the AFDI ad in the Metrorail system, while many Muslims are agitated as a result of the video, presents a danger to WMATA’s patrons and its employees . . . ,” is Taborn ADMITTING that HE believes that Muslims are “savages.”
So much for that “Tiny Minority of Extremists.”
Thanks for proving the point of the ad and demonstrating so cravenly why they’re necessary in the first place, Michael!

It’s an Islamofascist Protection Racket.

He is clearly implying that muslims are savages. How ironic.

I have what I consider a novel idea, in light of all the controversy:
Let the ads run, and then arrest anyone who breaks the law in response to them!
I think that’s a compromise that we can all live with.

This guy is saying all muslims are savages-how racist of him.
Those who support Jihad, perform acts of barbarism, and sit quietly and whitewash it are savages, and that includes the liberal media elites, Savage mona, and other dhimmie tools of the Islamist agenda.

Protecting us from terrorism involves drone targeting terror planners in their own countries and infiltrating and shutting down terror cells in our country — Not encouraging us to censor ourselves!
The theory behind our freedom of speech is that more speech — not less! — wins the day and sustains the freest society on Earth. We don’t want anyone in any public forum telling us to make an exception for Savages or Muslims.

““Airing the AFDI ad in the Metrorail system, while many Muslims are agitated as a result of the video, presents a danger to WMATA’s patrons and its employees,”
Actually, this provides the perfect solution to the problem of “How to identify the radicals as opposed to the moderates?“. Laura has the right idea. I am surprised that the FBI doesn’t run such ads themselves:
If you are pro-jihad and anti-America, please leave your finger prints on this ad while vandalising it. We also have a camera set up to make it easier to expatriate you to an islamic country“.

What proof did he submit that “some Muslims are agitated”?

How many are agitated”?
Could there be another cause for their “agitation” like maybe Infidel Derangement Syndrome (IDS)? Is there a treatment for IDS?
Can they take meds for their “agitation”?
Obviously, AFDI Counsel Yerushalmi will want to know when their “agitation” is likely to end. I guess the WMATA is suggesting that there will be a time, off in the future, when the ‘agitation” has worn off. In the meantime, curbing free expression is necessary ’til the “agitation” subsides.

I would like to know if you can get one of these as a bumper sticker? I will gladly put one on my car. The anti-Constitutional element is whittling away at our freedoms. Are we not tired of the minority dictating to the majority? Is it not time for the silent majority to stand up and be counted?

Above and beyond the argument of Free Speech, it just so happens that these ads TELL the TRUTH, and the truth is something that Islamists fear more than anything else — shining light on the dire perverse teachings of Islam is what they will kill to prevent, they do not want anybody to know the truth — about Mohammed (piss be upon him) or anything in the filthy reprehensible book known as the Koran — I pray God Romney will ban the Koran, and anybody caught with one on his person or in his house will be expelled within 24 hours, let them go and live in the islamic country of their choice but not in my country or any Western democracy.
I am overwhelmed at the courage and audacity and endurance of Pamela Geller who must face such virulent attacks from the scum of the earth. What a president she would make!!!!!!!!!!!!
