"Middle East Conflict Rages on Metro-North Billboards" New York Magazine
A pro-Israel group has fired the latest shot in the billboard battle between Muslims and Jews with a Metro-North ad reading: "19,250 Deadly Islamic Attacks Since 9/11/01 and counting. Not Islamophobia, It’s Islamorealism.” Sponsored by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, the billboard comes on the heels of a pro-Palestinian billboard showing changing borders since 1946 and a pro-Israeli billboard highlighting Palestinian refusals to accept peace offers.
Story continues below advertisementNow a local politician is calling on Metro-North to warn passengers about potentially offensive billboards and to spend the money made from them on an anti-discrimination campaign. "There are many Muslims residing in Greenburgh and in our villages," Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner told the Daily News. "They should not be discriminated against. The posters encourage hatred, discrimination and do not help the efforts to fight hate crimes."
The AFDI's Pamela Gellar [sic] argues that the ad isn't offensive at all and simply points out facts. "It is, as the ad says, Islamorealistic." But at least one prominent pro-Israel group disagrees. In a statement to NBC4, the Anti Defamation League said, “We believe these ads are highly offensive and inflammatory. Pro-Israel doesn’t mean anti-Muslim."
Surprising as it seems, Metro-North billboards may not solve this conflict.
The ADL should busy itself fighting the enemies of the Jews, not fighting the Jews.

Islamarealism leads people to believe that the claim made is true for all Muslims. Then PG says she is not referring to all Muslims or all Arabs. How can this be deduced from the term? Kindly respond. Thank you.

@elaine — Over 19,000+ jihad attacks (i.e., acts of terrorism done in the name of Allah) since 9-11 indicates to me that there is a problem in Islam. That needs to be acknowledged. Seems like if you believe that is an indictment of all Muslims you are the Islamophobe.
But if I were a Muslim seeing that fact I’d feel some sense of urgency to do something about it, not just look the other way or accept it as “the way things are.” What about supporting the Muslim organizations in Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan who are fighting against violent jihad, for instance? Are American Muslims doing anything to help?

ALL muslims are instructed to carry out jihad against the non-muslim population. If a muslim cannot do direct combat-jihad against the infidel, he is instructed to give aid and financial support to those who do. “Zakat”, the so called “muslim charity”, is primarily support for Islamic jihad. This is a very clear directive in the Quran addressed to ALL muslims!
So yes, ALL muslims share guilt in the crimes against humanity carried out by Islam.
This is why no muslim will speak out against jihad terror.
Jihad against the infidel is the 6th, and most important “pillar of Islam”.

Mohammed retakes top spot in English baby names

Mohammed reclaimed its place as the most popular name for baby boys born in England and Wales in 2011 – convincingly ahead of Harry, in second place, according to data released by the government this week.
The government declared that Harry was the most popular boy’s name, but if you add up the five most popular different spellings of Mohammed, that name comes top.
Mohammed is also the most popular boy’s name of the past five years for England and Wales, ahead of Oliver and Jack. It came first or second every year since 2007, the only name to do so.
And it could become even more popular in 2012, given the adulation around long-distance runner Mo Farah, who won two gold medals for Britain at the Olympics.
The popularity of the name comes as Britain’s Muslim population is expected to double in the next 20 years.
The country, which was about 2% Muslim in 1990, grew to 4.6% Muslim in 2010, with nearly 2.9 million followers of the faith, according to analysis by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.
By 2030, the United Kingdom will be just over 8% Muslim, with more than 5.5 million adherents, the Washington-based think tank projected in a 2011 report, “The Future of the Global Muslim Population.”
Mohammed first became the most popular boy’s name in England in 2009, then was knocked back into second place the next year as Oliver enjoyed a huge surge in popularity.
Harry, the name of Prince William’s younger brother and J.K. Rowling’s boy wizard, leaped into second place in 2011, with 7,523 boys given the moniker, topping the 7,007 Olivers.
But the name of the Muslim prophet was given to 7,907 baby boys, according to CNN analysis of Office of National Statistics data. Mohammed, Muhammad and Mohammad were all among the top 100 most popular names, with Muhammed and Mohamed also coming in the top 200.
A total of 37,564 babies have been given a variation of the name in the past five years. Some 36,653 Olivers and 36,581 Jacks were born in England and Wales since 2007. The British government keeps separate statistics for Scotland and for Northern Ireland, the other two nations that make up the United Kingdom.
The 2011 British census had an optional question about religion. Results are expected in November.
At least four different spellings of the name Mohammed are among the 1,000 most popular American boys’ names in 2011, according to the Social Security Administration.
Mohamed is the top, in 428th place, with Muhammad in 480th, Mohammed in 562nd and Mohammad in 609th.
The United States is about 0.8% Muslim, with about 2.6 million adherents, the Pew Forum calculates.

The ADL acting opposite of what they’re supposed to be is OPPOSING a Jewish Lady who ,by herself, PUTS THEM TO SHAME.

The ad in question should have said “Jihad” attacks instead of “Islamic” attacks. Makes the point without the rancor. Since everyone understands the word jihad and that way it singles out exactly just who is committing these 19,000+ crimes.
There are good Islamic people out these that have nothing to do with the criminal element that is infecting their religion.
They shouldn’t be lumped in with the jihadists in public advertising.

Before Pamela, I was constantly running into these stupid people who continualy pander to the enemy. The double standards employed by these minions of hate are the same as what was developing in Nazi Germany before World War II.
Until you all become angry enough, things will remain the same.

Pamela, You should create an add showing the reduced Jewish boundaries since 1920. In 1920 the Balfour Declaration gave the Jews a beneficial interest in the political rights to all of Palestine. The Jews had had a plurality of population in Jerusalem since 1845 and a majority since 1863 but in all Palestine, in 1917 when the Balfour policy was being adopted, the Jewish population was only about 60,000 out of a total of 600,000. The British thought it would be antidemocratic to put the jews in as rulers of Palestine until the Jewish Population attained a majority by immigration from the diaspora. But in 1922, the British gave in to the Arabs and ceded Abdullah, of the Hashemit tribe, 78% of the area. The because the Arabs threatened violence, in the UN General Assembly recommended Partition of 1948, the Jews got a small part of that and the UN took for itself, at least temporarily, the Jerusalem metropolitan area. The Jews were able to liberated only part of the territory the political rights for which the League of Nations granted to the Jews in 1922 (a part of the 22% left after Transjordan was severed and given to Abdullah. The 1967 war only restored all the the 22% but Israel tacitly ceded a part of that, Gaza, to the Arabs in the hopes they would stop firing rockets at the Israeli civilians.
Since the grant of beneficial rights to the Israelis in 1920, the Arabs have been using threats of violence and actual violence to take these rights from the Jews. Pamela — you should try an ad showing this change in boundaries to traverse the claims of the Arabs.
