More media blowback on the bus ads. Muslim Brotherhood groups are weighing in as well.

First they were calling on followers to vandalize our bus ads; now genocidal Hamas-linked CAIR is supporting a petition to have the ads pulled (in accordance with the laws of the sharia). CAIR said, "We don't feel comfortable boarding buses that label an entire community savage."

Story continues below advertisement

"An entire community?" What community is that, CAIR? What community supports the targeting of innocent civilians? Is Hamas-CAIR saying that all Muslims support the annihilation of Israel? Very revealing, but not surprising. The first paragraph of the Hamas charter calls for the destruction of Israel.

They don't feel comfortable boarding a bus with our ads? Imagine how the Jews feel boarding a bus with homicide bombers. Which bus would you rather board?

Muni Bus Ads Call Israel's Enemies 'Savages' KQED News

If you are out and about in San Francisco, you may have noticed ads on the sides of Muni buses that refer to Israel's enemies as "savages." The ads are raising questions about the kind of advertising public agencies can accept.

The ads read: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad."

The ad has offended some San Franciscans, who have expressed their reactions on Twitter. For example:

volksmenner @volksmenner  PT: A blatantly racist, pro-Israel ad by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, on SF MUNI buses. pic.twitter.com/L2c5m7az h/t @roamingradical

Pamela Geller, who purchased the ads, had been waiting for approval from Muni for months, she tells KQED's Aarti Shahani. She says approval came the same day a federal judge ruled that New York City violated Geller's free speech rights by refusing an identical campaign there.

Geller said she bought the ads in response to advertising that called for ending U.S. aid to Israel. "I wanted to counter that message," she said.

Why the word "savage?"

Here's Geller's explanation:

Because any targeting of innocent civilians is savagery. Mothers and children on a bus are targeted, and that is savagery. Kidnapping and murdering is savagery. The U.S. does not conduct war that way, and neither does Israel. Now, there is sometimes the accidental death of civilians, which is far different than the targeting of innocent civilians.

The ads are scheduled to run through the end of the month. But some people would like to stop them sooner.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations is supporting a petition to stop the ads. CAIR's San Francisco executive director told Aarti Shahani that she would like Muni to formulate a policy prohibiting hate speech:

We're hearing from members of the community, both Arabs and Muslims and otherwise, like interfaith and civil rights alike, saying, 'We don't feel comfortable boarding buses that label an entire community savage.'

Manhattan district judge Paul A. Engelmayer's decision to allow the ads in New York does not end the possibility of banning such ads, Shahani says, because Engelmayer did not say all such ads must automatically be allowed. Instead he ruled that the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's policy was unconstitutional because it appeared to ban speech that impugned some groups and not others.

According to the New York Times:

(H)e even offered examples, like “Southerners are bigots,” “Upper West Siders are elitist snobs,” “Fat people are slobs,” “Blondes are bimbos” and “Lawyers are sleazebags.”

Aarti says the MTC is appealing Engelmayer's decision.

Update at 4:10 p.m: Muni spokesman Paul Rose told Aarti the agency has gotten some complaints about the ad campaign, but that's not unusual. It has never removed ads before the contract to display them ended. Will this be a first?

We understand how this ad might be offensive, but we are limited in what we can do… We're exploring  options in light of First Amendment issues, our ad policy and our contractual obligations.

According to CAIR, truth is hate speech. But the United States of America has the first amendment to protect us against you.

Help keep these ads running. Contribute here, and get the tee shirts here.

You’d think that all those peace loving Muslims who believe that “jihad” means inner struggle would be in favor of any effort to condemn violent jihad done against innocent civilians.

Their law permits them to kill their wives and daughters for wearing “Western” clothes, but does not allow them to be called savage? How civilized is that?

The ad clearly equates Jihad with savagery, and equates only Jihad with savagery. If a Muslim is offended, he must be admitting he is a Jihadist. Since Jihadists are terrorists in the popular lexicon, and since terrorists are not welcome in the USA, then anyone feeling offended should be deported, right?
Makes sense to me.

This is the first real non-PC ad out there about the real threat we face from a very evil and determined enemy of freedom and civilization.
Now a true moderate muslim (if such a creature exists), would be applauding Pamela and saying things like “no Jew-killing in my religion’s name.”
But instead we get the predictable reflexive bleating and belly-aching from the usual grievance-mongers and fascist thugs.
I really don’t know why our civilization twists itself up in a pretzel at the thought of eliminating those who are at war with us.
What is it we think will happen, that some magical day we’ll be breaking bread with these people and laughing about the times we were trying to take each other down?
They exist, they hate our guts, they want to see us dead, our civilization destroyed as they have done to countless others before us, what is there to talk about or figure out?
It boils down to either they win the war or we will-there is no in-between.

@Fitna
On your last point I agree w/you entirely. There’s no middle ground between
islamofascism and freedom/liberty/equality because islam is a
totalitarian, supremacist, antisemitic, xenophobic (at least to any and
all unbelievers) ideology. Anyone who says differently is either ignorant,
dumb or corrupt.

We won’t tolerate the disrespect of our Constitution and our established way of life.
GO AWAY and take those who are offended by truth with you.

There is nothing racist about critiquing “Palestinian” policy and culture.
The “Palestinians” are a hodge podge of white Nazi war criminals (“al-Husseini”, “al-Arian”); black slaves (“ibd”, “Abdullah”); white Ottomon imperialists (“al-Turki”); and assorted fellaheen from Babylon (“al-Iraqi”, “al-Basri”, “al-Kurdi”), North Africa (“al-Misri”, “al-Liby”) and Asia. They are not a race.
What unites them, then? Their policies and culture. Lets look at their policies: The “Palestinians” – ‘Southern Syrians’ as they were then known – supported the Nazis, and their imam spent the war years in Berlin where he designed the Shari’ah-compliant death camps at Auschwitz (Haj Amin al-Husseini). The “Palestinians” – racial purity obsessed ‘Arab nationalists’ then – supported the Communists, and their Pope (Yassir Arafat, permanent co-President of the OIC who had far more theological import over the Ummah than the vicar of Rome has ever had over Catholics) was an agent of Moscow. The “Palestinians” – soldiers of Allah this time ’round – supported the jihad, not just the dancing on the streets on 9/11, but survey after survey which shows that virtually every Mohammedan in “Palestine” advocates crimes against humanity. Al-Qaeda attacked on 9/11 to be pro-“Palestinian”. So much for their foreign policy.
Let’s look at “Palestinian” culture. Intolerant. Irreverent. Lazy. Misogynist. Imperialist. Summud (antonym of innovative). Regressive. Homophobic. Deeply racist and anti-Semetic. Incredibly violent. Anti-human rights. Anti-American. Anti-globalist.
Essentially, in the big moral questions of the 20th and 21th Century – both foreign policy and domestic – the “Palestinians” have chosen the side of Evil. And there’s nothing racist about saying so.
There is nothing racist about critiquing “Palestinian” policy and culture.

Look at the twitter address: “volksmenner @volksmenner”. That’s Dutch, hence a European. Not surprising then that this person is a complete imbecile. Only a complete imbecile would call supporting the only real democracy in the Middle East “racist”; only a complete imbecile would protest against those that try to protect our freedoms and rights from Jihadis.
Oh yes, this must be a European.

Vandalizing the ads is a destruction of property crime. Surely video cameras at the bus stops will identify the quilty ones. Moreover, that CAIR is publically calling for people to vandalize these ads is aiding and abetting a crime. They too should be arrested and when convicted they should be deported. It is interesting however that the muslims identify themselves with the word savage and not with the word civilized.

I would list myself as among those not entirely comfortable with the wording of the advertisement. Not that it is wrong- but it may not be the best way to present a message.
The ad also is unnecessarily harsh and alienating. I’m not concerned about being harsh and alienating toward jihadis and their sympathizers. But I think the wording may turn away “moderates” who may be opposed to the jihadi’s agenda- particularly those who have not read “Atlas Shrugged” and are unfamiliar with Objectivist rhetoric.
As such, Pamela may be preaching to the choir while presenting her message in a way to dissuade the congregation from attending church. Perhaps a better way to look at this is to ask, “Would this advertisement set up barriers to the future Nonie Darwish’s of this world”? I would wonder what Nonie thinks about the wording of this ad.
Finally, I think to lump savages in with a bunch of mass-murderous thugs driven my a religiously inspired hate gives a bad rap to savages throughout history (and pre-history). After all, one definition of “savage” is “a person belonging to a primitive society”.

I spent my whole life never needing to protect my freedom of speech, never having to take it out and brush it off and use it. It wasn’t until after 9/11 that I pulled out my freedom of speech and expression rights and decided to use it.
I suspect most Americans are like me. I have never taken it out of my freedom box, even though I have it and know that it’s there if I need to use it. It’s like my freedom and right to keep and bear arms. Never had to take that out of the box to use it either.
It’s time America to open that box of freedoms that were never necessary before in this peaceful free nation, it’s time now to USE them before we lose them! Everyone brush off your rights and stand with Pam!

Jews in Israel and now Bulgaria must have also felt uncomfortable boarding buses that were bombed by muslo-nazis. As did the people on 7-7 in the UK.
