CAIR blasts Gingrich for limiting hires to Muslims who renounce Shariah law

The largest Muslim civil liberties group in the United States on Wednesday condemned Newt Gingrich for saying he would only hire Muslims to his administration if they renounced the use of Islam's Shariah law as a tool for U.S. government.
Calling Gingrich "one of the nation's worst promoters of anti-Muslim bigotry," the Council of American Islamic Relations suggested the Republican presidential candidate is a segregationist.
"Newt Gingrich's vision of America segregates our citizens by faith. His outdated political ideas look backward to a time when Catholics and Jews were vilified and their faiths called a threat," said CAIR Legislative Director Corey Sayolor in a statement.
"The time for bias in American politics has passed and Newt Gingrich looks like a relic of an ugly era," Sayolor said.
CAIR said the release was prompted by the candidate's remarks Tuesday in Columbia when, asked if he would ever endorse a Muslim running for president.
"It would depend entirely on whether they would commit in public to give up Shariah," Gingrich said.
"A truly modern person who happened to worship Allah would not be a threat, a person who belonged to any kind of belief in Shariah, any effort to impose it on the rest of us, would be a mortal threat," Gingrich told the crowd, adding that he's "totally opposed" to Shariah law being applied in American courts and favors a federal law that "preempts" its use.
This month, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down an Oklahoma ban on the application of "Sharia law" and "international law" in courts.
Pointing to the religious freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment, CAIR defends Shariah law as a set of beliefs that "teaches marital fidelity, generous charity and a thirst for knowledge," and mandates that Muslims respect the law of the land in which they live.
Gingrich had a different interpretation of Shariah law, pointing to the, "rising Islamization of Turkey has been accompanied by a 1,400 percent increase in women being killed."
"When you look at the application of Shariah in places like Iran, when you look at churches being burned in Nigeria and Egypt, and that the decline of Christians in Iraq from a million, 200 thousand when the Americans arrived to about 500,000 today, I think it depends entirely on the person," he said.
"If they are a modern person integrated in the modern world and they are prepared to recognize all religions, that's one thing. On the other hand, if they're Saudis, who demand that we respect them while they refuse to allow Christians to worship in Saudi Arabia, that's something different," he continued.
Later in the day during a question and answer session in Aiken, S.C., Gingrich also called the Ground Zero mosque "a deliberate and willful insult to the people of the United States who suffered an attack by people who are motivated by the same thing."
"I think the time has come for us to have an honest conversation about Islamic radicalism. I don't think we should be intimidated by our political elites, and I don't think we should be intimidated by universities who have been accepting money from the Saudis and who, therefore, now have people who are apologists for the very people who want to kill us," he said.

YES!!! Gingrich has my vote. What we need is a candidate who completely understands the Islamic agenda and Newt is the one. Can you imagine a team of Gingrich and Alan West? This country would be much better off.

I moved to SC 6 months ago and i am ready to vote Sat for Newt!!!!!!!!!!! Problem is SC is an open state. Why anyone can vote for the R primary is a mystery to me.

CAIR said this in response to Newt’s comments about forcing Sharia law on us.
So now we have it on record — CAIR is in favor of those who want to impose Sharia law on our society. In fact, by the above statement, CAIR equates “muslim” with “Sharia”.

This is not an issue that can ket Gingrich elected. When ex wives one and two do their tell all, it will be all over for Gingrich. Why back a horse that cannot run? You have to put your votes behind Paul, who is the only non establishment candidate and the only candidate that can defeat Obama. Or do you prefer to see Obama re-elected? that is the reality.

Unfortunately, Pam I’m sorry to say you’re wrong on this one. Gingrich is nothing but an intelligent opportunist. I lived in Georgia for 20 years so I’m quite familiar with the Newt. BTW, besides making hay with Fannie and Freddie Mac money,
he was part of government for too long and helped create the mess we’re in WITH OUR
MUSLIM masters.

Terror-tied sharia pushing jihad enabling treasonous CAIR hates Rick Santorum too, who I endorsed. I would love to see a Santorum/Gingrich ticket, even if the order is the other way. The debates against Obama/Biden would be priceless and we’d finally have a POTUS and VP who are not afraid to tell the truth about islam, jihad, and sharia. There is no greater threat to this country than islamization and jihad, we cannot survive if we don’t have leadership who are not afraid to honestly and appropriately deal with it!

He’s been my first choice from day one. Watching him debate is like watching Michael Jordan play basketball. VERY bright and WISE man. The only candidate with the ABILITY to get the job DONE! P.S. Rick Santorum is the only candidate running with a top-notch grade (A-) from NumbersUSA, regarding his tough voting record against illegal immigration, and he is also the only candidate running with a coveted A+ rating from the National Rifle Association, for his strong support of our gun rights. And, his counter-jihad credentials are second to none. Rick Santorum was sounding the alarm about Iran and the Islamic threat long before it became acceptable to do so.

Pamela is making the right endorsement. Santorum is not going to win. He doesn’t have the money or the campaign team he needs to win. His ceaseless comments about gays are alieniating too many people and lead people to look at him as a wedge-issue kind of guy with no statesmanship. Gingrich has a good organization, has acce3ss to funds and is able to both see and articulate the big picture under pressure. And he is right on track with his views on Islam. I don’t care about gay and abortion issues. Gays didn’t blow up the Twin Towers. These are distractions. The big issues are the economy, Middle East foreign policy and dealing with domestic forces bent on Islamification. All the rest is irrelevant.

Excellent momentum. Now we have four candidates, Mitt, Newt, Santorum and Ron Paul. It’ll be more focussed. No matter who wins, someone good will at least be VP.

Pamela I’m really beginning to lose faith in your judgement of what’s best for our country. Gingrich is simply an opportunistic loudmouth.
He was buddy buddy with Pelosi on climate change, he led the charge to impeach Clinton and he was having an affair of his own. We have to get smart and look at the real problems that are eating this country alive.
No one is or could ever defeat, No Muslims, No Chinese no one. We are defeating ourselves internally and Ron Paul is the only one who gets this and the only one with the right solutions. We have to fix the foundations of our house so we can prosper.
We need to stop being so fearful and worry about fixing our own country. Muslims are irrelevant and will never overthrow our constitution, we’re doing that ourselves with bills like NDAA, SOPA, PIPA, Patriot Act the list goes on and Ron Paul is the only one seriously addressing these issues.

This is a lie on the part of the Moslems to get Newt INTO OFFICE. Don’t believe it. Newt cannot do that by law and wouldn’t.
I am opposed to Newt for many reasons:
When a man (Newt Gingrich) marries a woman 26 YEARS his junior (young enough to be he daughter or younger) someting is out of balance. It’s important to stop making excuses. Newt first marries his highschool teacher 10 years older, then another (who purportedly wasn’t “pretty enough or young enough” to be a president’s wife, then a third way younger than himself. Newt has badly wanted to be president since he was a teenager, maybe younger. When a man is driven to it, something is out of balance. His own record shows something is out of balance.
And there is the potential First Lady herself to consider.
