Commissioner Kelly said that the suspect closely followed Anwar Al-Awlaki, and it appears that the death of the terrorist inspired him to speed up plans for an attack.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sunday an "Al Qaeda sympathizer" who plotted to bomb police and post offices in New York City and U.S. troops returning home has been arrested on numerous terrorism-related charges.
Bloomberg announced the Saturday arrest of 27-year-old Jose Pimentel of Manhattan, a U.S. citizen originally from the Dominican Republic.
The mayor said Pimentel was "plotting to bomb police patrol cars and also postal facilities as well as targeted members of our armed services returning from abroad." But there was no evidence that he was working with anyone else, the mayor said.
"He appears to be a total lone wolf," Bloomberg said at a news conference.
Pimentel was motivated by his resentement of American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, fueled by Al Qaeda propaganda, the mayor said. "He was not part of a larger conspiracy emanating from abroad."
Pimentel is accused of having an explosive substance that he planned to use against others and property to terrorize the public. The charges include conspiracy, first-degree criminal possession of a weapon as a crime of terrorism, and soliciting support for a terrorist act. He was to be arraigned later Sunday.
"This is just another example of New York City because we are an iconic city … this is a city that people would want to take away our freedoms gravitate to and focus on," Bloomberg said.
The New York Police Department's Intelligence Division was involved in the arrest. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Pimentel spent most of his years in Manhattan and lived about five years in Schenectady.

This Pimplehead is not a lone wolf. As per news reports Pimplehead tried to get in touch with Alwhacki, was an avid reader of Alwhacki’s “Inspire” magazine, and learned how to make bombs from articles written for “Inspire.” He was also a frequent visitor to a website dedicated to “true Islam” as well as other websites dedicated to Islam and Jihad. This Pimplehead’s contacts numbered in the hundreds. Bet on it.
I can understand why Bloomberg and Kelly might pretend that that this guy was a “lone wolf” but that is nonsense in light of all the Islamic websites that Pimplehead visited over the past several years. This guy was probably turned in by an FBI agent who knew he was about to go Jihad and kill thousands. His Jihad pals must be very nervous right now. Some of them were probably at the recent Muslim rally in NYC protesting against FBI and NYPD surveillance of them.

I watched the news conference with Mayor Bloomberg, Kelly and a third city official. They were so tense (especially the Mayor-but also Kelly was tense) re this “lone wolf” that one would think the “lone wolf” had escaped police custody. There is much more going on here than the Mayor etc. dares to tell the public.
I think the news conference was directed at the “lone wolf”‘s co-conspirators. The Mayor and Co. were giving the Jihadists a warning via the sudden arrest of the “lone wolf.” There is much more here than meets the media eye. This is a biggie.

Why were they so quick to say he was a lone wolf? Is that supposed to make us feel more at ease? As soon as they arrest one, another is waiting in the wings.
And why doesn’t one of the major newspapers do an in-depth look at those who covert to Islam and get arrested on terrorism charges? I know. I know. Silly me. What am I thinking.
Pamela, maybe they’ll add this to one of the episodes of “All-American Muslim”. Somehow I doubt it.

If you watched the Mayor and Co’s news conference, watched the body language of these guys-they were really tense when they denied a “conspiracy.” Mayor Bloomberg is usually pretty stiff anyway-but he was practically spastic at that news conference and his eyes were wide and unblinking as he darted about. Kelly looked grim. Man these guys were concerned and it was not about the “lone wolf.”

I wonder if Pimplehead was at the recent rally against the FBI, the NYPD’s surveillance of him and his jihad pals. He might be in the film footage of that rally.
The Muslim protests against the FBI and NYPD surveillance of them are similar to Joe Colombo’s protests against the FBI’s “racist” surveillance of the Mafia in the 1970s. The only difference is that Joe’s rallies had thirty or forty thousand people-while the Muslim protests are made up mostly of Muslims who are under surveillance because of their Jihad activities.
