Pamela Geller, WND: 86 ‘The 99’

86 'The 99'

There is a new and particularly insidious form of cultural jihad that is targeting our children: comic books featuring Islamic superheroes. A Muslim named Naif Al-Mutawa has created "The 99," a comic book and TV series featuring a gang of Muslim superheroes – one of whom wears a burqa.

It's no surprise that the mainstream media love it. PBS is running a documentary feature on al-Mutawa this week, and CNN, the Crescent News Network, finds the comic books thrilling. Barack Obama, CNN's Dan Merica reported last week, "called the comic books, which debuted in 2006, 'the most innovative response' to America's expanding dialogue with the Muslim world, which Obama has encouraged." But poor al-Mutawa, said Merica, although he had hoped that "The 99" would "become a symbol of toleration," instead found that "a vocal minority" opposed the comics, raising "surprising questions about American tolerance of Islam."

"A symbol of toleration"? Really?

In reality, a Shariah board approved "The 99," and Shariah in all its mainstream and traditional forms calls for the subjugation of non-Muslims and the denial of basic rights to them under the rule of Islamic law. I don't consider that an acceptable level of "toleration." "The 99," is mainstreaming the institutionalized oppression of women under Shariah, as exemplified by the burqa-wearing superhero. One would think that the male superheroes would have superpowers strong enough to be able to control themselves without the women having to don cloth coffins.
But portraying the Islamic oppression of women in a positive light doesn't bother al-Mutawa at all. Instead, he was "worried about the comics being banned in Saudi Arabia – which wound up happening, briefly – and he expected to be challenged by conservatives in Islam, since Al-Mutawa wanted to buck the trend of Islamic culture being directly tied to the Quran."

But when the projected TV series was picked up by The Discovery Channel's "The Hub" but then not immediately scheduled, al-Mutawa and CNN blamed me and others who protested the series, not the Saudis. "All of a sudden we couldn't get an air date, and I was asked to be patient and we have been. But it has been a year, and the actual push-back died down. … We were waiting for a fatwa from a cleric in Saudi Arabia," said Isaac Solotaroff, director of the PBS documentary on al-Mutawa, "when it ended up being the U.S. market that has been resistant to 'The 99.'"

Oh yes, Saudi Arabia is so much freer and more open-minded than the United States.

Is there a romantic angle to these stories? Do any of the male superheroes have sexy six year old girl friends? http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/mufa-khathat-cleaning-mess-up.html

Does any one have a translated copy of the series? I have read a lot of blogs about the comic, but not the comic itself.

I met Jerry Siegel and his wife on a ComicCon in Sweden back in 1985. I’m proud to have his autograph. However, Mr Siegel and Mr Shuster must be rolling in their graves considering the turns DC has taken with their creation in latter years. All done out of sheer political correctness. Now they have destroyed one of US’ best brands in the last 70 years or so. Today both DC and Marvel are so entangled in all this multiculti BS and PC, that I wouldn’t be at least surprised if Kal-El, Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark and others converts to islam. If those comics companies betray their origins like that, then I hope both companies will crash and burn. I can hardly think any kafirs who wants to read about a muslim Batman for instance.

I’m mortified, and embarrassed to have a Muslim in the White House. Especially one who has lied about it. He’s a campaign Christian, and a practicing Muslim. I’m not stupid. I can see and hear. Ugly man.

The current comic book market is rather unstable and has been for about 15 years. Reasons vary, but children younger than 12 are not flocking to comic books like they once did. Marketing has been target to older readers, from high school age on up. With the advent of the internet and advances in video game technology, comic books no longer have any appeal to the grade school set, not even Archie comics (of course Archie Comics haven’t been the same since artist Dan Decarlo passed away in 2003(?); that plus the fact they are trying to be more PC [i.e. – introducing its first openly gay character]). But I digress.
As for this “99”, DC Comics published a mini-series featuring the Muslim “superheroes” teaming up with the Justice League about a year ago. Further evidence of DC’s (or is that “PC’s”) Islamo-pandering is the introduction of a Muslim Batman who operates mostly in Paris (part of the “Batman, Inc.” storyline). Being a casual reader of comics, I don’t think DC will be seeing another cent from me anytime soon. I’d rather spend it on Frank Miller’s “Holy Terror”, which was savagely attacked by liberal critics.

I wonder what CNN, PBS the leftist main stream media and Obama would say about a Southern Confederate Hero comic book. Our hero would fight crime, carry a gun, practice chivalry , attend church support states rights , be anti big government , anti tax and spend and of course fly an Confederate battle flag.

Why shouldn’t I be bigoted against muslimes? It’s their religion that calls for the slaughter and persecution of unbelievers on a worldwide scale. It’s their religion that has no less than three verses that call for the worldwide extermination of Jews. It’s their religion that is presently persecuting, murdering, raping and enslaving people of other faiths all over the world…

In Canada we have a show on the CBC called LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE, (no I am not kidding that really is the name of it).
It depicts a small fictional muslim community in one of our prairie provinces. The Imam speaks excellent English and does not even have a beard. It is sweet and syrupy and depicts muslims as being basicly just your average everyday folk except they just happen to dress funny.
Watching a show like this would give most uninformed people the impression that there is no such thing as Jihad or the violence that goes on against women or non muslim minorities.
It is a fairly entertaining show which is amazing for the CBC as most of their shows are boring as hell.
It is however also a great propaganda tool to lull uninformed people into a false sense of security that we really have nothing to worry about from our muslim neighbors.
In light of this success I will be curious to see the effect a muslim superhero will have on the willing masses. Perhaps Obama himself will be a fan.

99? Is that a little too close to 88 to be coincidence? Are you aware of the 88 used as a veiled reference to the 8th letter; HH or Heil Hitler! Whenever you see a web name with 88 in it it is a Nazi pig.
