Mosqueing the Workplace: Hertz suspends 35 Muslim Workers for Abusing Special Prayer Break times, Refusing to Clock Out when Praying

25

Here, yet again, is another glaring example of what I call in my book, Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance, the mosqueing of the workplace: the imposing of Islamic law on the secular marketplace. No big media outlet will talk about the bigger picture, but one only needs to look at Europe to see the bleak future if this supremacism goes unchallenged.

Demands for accommodation result in ….more demands. Take for example, the Heinz company. Heinz has bent over backward to accommodate these Muslim workers: they have prayer rooms, prayer, etc. They just don't want them leaving work to pray outside of scheduled break times. Mind you, they could easily pray before or after work, but no. This imposes Islam on everyone else. Now Muslim workers are suing Heinz, demanding to be allowed to say prayers in the workplace at the time of day specified by their religion.

Is this any different? You'll notice, big companies are always targeted. Why? To set precedent.

Story continues below advertisement

"On the part of workers, they don't want to clock out despite being paid because, according to Thompson, they don't want to feel "monitored" during their religious rituals."

So Hertz is giving them prayer breaks but stipulates that workers must clock out for them. But that's not enough to meet Muslim demands; if they clock out they're being "monitored." Beware, America, it's never enough.

May I suggest readers rent from Hertz, and only Hertz for now?

Hertz Suspends 35 Muslim Workers for Praying Without Clocking Out Seattle Weekly (hat tip CJ)

For years, Hertz Rent-a-Car has employed dozens of Muslim workers to shuttle its vehicles back and forth between Sea-Tac Airport and its nearby corporate office. The workers, mostly Somali immigrants, earn relatively low pay–about $10 an hour and no benefits–but they insist on one thing: praying two or three times a day. Managers, however, were concerned that the prayer breaks would "get out of hand," according to Hertz spokesperson Rich Broome.

So they warned employees that they better start clocking out when they pray. Many refused. So on Friday, the company indefinitely suspended approximately 35 workers.

Teamsters Local 117 held a protest at Sea-Tac yesterday (pictured above) and filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. "I don't know what conclusion to draw except that this is based on religious discrimination," says Tracey Thompson, the union's secretary-treasure.

Hertz denies it, saying that Muslims who follow the rules are still gainfully employed.

According to Thompson, the contested prayer sessions took place on a rug behind a barrier in the garage where Hertz keeps its cars. She says the union has timed the prayers, and they take four to five minutes. (Broome says they're longer.) Most of the year, the workers pray twice during an eight-hour shift, but on special occasions they'll add another prayer. To compensate for their time on the prayer rug, they forego the twice daily 10-minute breaks that employees are entitled to. SioabookF-jacketdrudge

Thompson says Hertz has long accepted this practice. And last year, she says, the company verbally agreed during negotiations that workers would not clock out for prayer breaks, even though all employees are required to punch in and out for regular breaks and meal times.

Broome denies such an agreement, and the written language of the contract, forwarded to SW by the union, doesn't specifically address whether workers have to clock out for "mini breaks," as prayer times are categorized.

The Hertz spokesperson insists that the clocking-out rule was clear. Therefore the company recently decided it had to crack down on those who were "insubordinate."

In some ways, it's a strange dispute. It's not exactly about money. Workers get paid even when they're clocked out–unless they go over their allotted time. Instead, for Hertz, the crackdown seems to be about making sure that workers don't get a minute more of break time than they're entitled to. (Note to bosses in low-wage industries: This is why your employees hate you.)

Broome portrays the goof-off potential as serious. "We didn't want a situation where a 10- or 12-minute prayer turned into a 40-minute break," he says. Asked if workers were, in fact, prolonging their prayer breaks, he declined to say.

On the part of workers, they don't want to clock out despite being paid because, according to Thompson, they don't want to feel "monitored" during their religious rituals.

Yet, they are anyway, the employees claim. The union relates one incident in which a manager attempted to block a group of Somali women from their ad hoc prayer room.

"He stood in front of the prayer room with his arms fully extended," employee Maryan Muse is quoted as saying in a union press release. "We managed to get into the prayer room, but while we were praying, they [Hertz management] were laughing and clapping their hands, mocking us."

Broome says he has never heard of any such incidents before being contacted by SW. As for the suspended workers, he says they won't be taken back "until they agreed to follow the rules."

More Islam:
The suspect pulled up in his vehicle, got out and accused the victim of criticizing his Islamic religion. The victim denied that he had been critical of Islam, but the suspect then grabbed a tire iron, hit the victim in the head and punched him before speeding off in his vehicle.

Anyone who hires a Muslim is a fool. There is a reason why Europe has a 60% unemployment rate among Muslims. It is safer to hire a lesbian in a wheel chair with a chip on her shoulder.

Your RELIGION IS YOUR CHOICE. Why does an employer have to make any accomodations for your choices? We do not make accomodations for Jews and Christians at the workplace, so why should we for Muslims. Islam is not a race. It is an ideology. Do we make special rules for Democrats, Republicans, Wiccans, Atheist, Scientologist, Vegetarians, or others at workplaces? NO, we do not. F&^K Islam. Totalitarian A-holes.

I hope this law suit back fires on them in a big way. No business is required to pay an employee during extended breaks. Doesn’t matter what a person is doing, a break is a break. Keeping tabs? Whatever. If you are on the clock, and getting paid, it is their obligation to work, not take a break even if its for a religious reason. Are these assholes implying that an employer must financially support his religion ?

Absolutely. The game here is Muslim supremacists (CAIR-American Bund etc.)using “useful idiots” (Muslim and non-Muslim) for power. They use the costumes, hats, face-coverings, and rituals (why are human beings so impressed by this shit?)of “religion” to intimidate and demand special privileges in a secular environment. It would take a Jung or Freud to tell us why we take this nonsense seriously.
I think the Islamic “true-believer” puppeteers (and this is why the Left is so enabling of this crap) desire to impose a totalitarian system on others (they even clit-snip in Egypt to control women.) This desire (based on some belief or other) is deeply rooted in some people, and their insecurity manifests itself in behaviors that aim at controlling others’ political speech (ideas and opinions), behavior-ultimately others’ minds.
The numbers of people advocating this crap doesn’t matter. We must keep in mind that Lenin and Hitler never had the willing support of a majority. It is always a small cadre of ideologists that can and sometimes do impose their will on the masses. Finally, they rule by fear. They are about selflessness disguised as disinterested principal.
A few people are not blind to the danger (Pamela e.g.) of a small committed (the left and Nazis love that word)cadre that can and will impose their ideology if their “supremacism goes unchallenged.”

These quranimals must be told in no uncertain terms that they are free to practice their religion but are NOT free to impose their religion on the rest of humanity. Any employer who even thinks of employing the headbangers must read plancksconstant’s rules for employing quranimals. Here it is:

I bet you that the religous jews(conservative, orthodox, ultra orthadox and hisidic!) that pray 3 times a day would GET NO PROBLEMS for taking prayer break. Pamela Geller just hates this is law for religious rights. She also was stupid enough to tell people not to believe all the 5 major facts which ARE the truth why most of the world community DISLIKES OUR M.E. FOREIGN POLICIES.Israel letting them do what the germans did to them to the arab palestinians, backing oppresive dictators,(because they CONTROL their people),giving financial support for our unfair imperialistic policies, and giving aid and supporting israel while looking the other way or dismissing their human rights abuses! Read people and stop believing totally what the israel lobby tv. shows.

I don’t really notice any of the “moderate” muslimes opposing the imperialistic, supremacist aims of the “radical” muslimes — because they will benefit from them as well, as they do in any and all Islamic states, where anyone not muslime is persecuted, with the only difference between muslime states being the level of persecution practiced.

how’s that religious tolerance in somalia coming along? “In August 2009, International Christian Concern reported that four Christians working to help orphans in Somalia were beheaded by Islamist extremists when they refused to convert to Islam.”

It is MUSLIMS who are practising discrimination in the workplace!! why do they expect special treatment as though they have superior needs to all other workers? what about atheists who may want to meditate upon evolution 3 times a day, or Hindus who want to read their Bagadvita, or Zoroastrian Persians who wish to worship their God, what about Wiccans, Buddhist who may wish to burn incense and spin their prayer wheels?? don’t THEY have a right to extra time for wrship like the special muslims do?? what about if EVERY religion wanted equal time for prayer as the muslims? would’nt the wheels of industry grind to a halt?? this is ONE GOOD REASON WHY all muslim countries don’t have viable industries, why they are not rich industrial countries( except for their oil which pumps from the ground with little effort on their behalf) just ONE MORE PROOF that religion must be kept out of the workplace…one law and rule for all , I say

BTW, as a Christian, I have often taken my small Gideons New Testament out during my 10 minute tea break to spiritually renew myself or to comfort me when upset, I DO NOT NEED to inflict my religious practices upon non christians, jews, gentiles, muslims, buddhists, hindus, mormons, atheists, or any other believer of any religion….so it eludes me as to WHY mulims are allowe to be a pain in the @$$in the workplace…if they thought they might lose their job, which many unemployed Americans would be VERY grateful for, they might just shut their whiney mouths for once and get on with WORKING!!!!!!!!!

At my local hospital Muslims are allowed to hold Friday prayers in the Christian chapel. This is in addition to the Muslim prayer room where they can go at other times. It seems that Christians have the mistaken belief that the Allah of Islam is the same God of Christians and therefore borrowing the chapel for prayer to honour a cult deity is ok. Also the Jesus Christ in the Qur’an is not Christ the Redeemer as revered by Christians. He is reduced to prophet status, devoid of any divine relationship and equal to all other prophets including Mohammed. If clergy responsible for chapels across the community take the trouble to read the Qur’an they will see that Islam bears little resemblance to a religion. It doesn’t preach forgiveness, compassion and love of neighbour. It calls for violence and death of non-believers and death to all who break Mohammed’s (not God’s) laws. Following a service by Muslims in Christian chapels, there should be a re-dedication service such as would be necessary if the room had been used by satanists.

I agree with you about the need to cleanse the chapels, but I think many christians are aware allah of the muslims is not the God of the Bible

Not true I’m afraid. Muslims believe that Islam is rooted in the Abrahamic religion of the Bible hence their acknowledgement of ‘people of the book’. Their branch however is claimed to be through Ishmael, elder son of Abraham, which gives them the link to the Bible and to God which they must have if Islam is to be regarded as a religion. Many Christians don’t know that this claim is a myth and, like a great deal in Islam, doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Like that other great myth called the prophet’s night journey where Mohamed flew with Angel Gabriel to Jerusalem which conveniently gives Muslims a claim on that city today.

THERE IS NO SUCH BEING EXCEPT IN THE IMAGINATION OF RAGHEAD CAMEL JOCKEYS.
THE GOAL OF ISLAM IS TO CONTROL AND DOMINATE AMERICA , AND TO FLY THEIR FLAG OVER OUR
CAPITOL BUILDING AND WHITEHOUSE. IF WE GIVE THEM AN INCH ( SUCH AS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR
TIME OFF TO PRAY TO THIS PAGAN DEITY ) THEY WILL DEMAND WE GIVE THEM A MILE .
THEY ARE ALL DANGEROUS AND TREACHEROUS AND SHOULD ALL BE DEPORTED OUT OF AMERICA.
WE NEVER KNOW WHICH ONE OF THEM WILL ATTACK US NEXT.

My friend is a manager at a Hertz shop in town where I live (a large midwest city) and interacts daily with the people at the airport here. Hertz sent out a nationwide directive to all employees to not discuss this with anybody (friends, family, etc.), but I managed to get out of him/her this past weekend that the Muslim employees do the same thing here and completely take advantage of the multiple prayer breaks allotted for them daily…and that the only reason why Hertz will not do anything about it here is because the state provides money for the immigrants (aka Muslims) they hire.

White I don’t agree with the Muslims not clocking out during their prayer breaks, you left one pretty bad detail in your article. Muslims have specific prayer times that change every day. So when you say “to pray before or after work”, they cannot do that since they have prayers DURING work time.
