yes, great to watch you, creeping sharia in our malls in Canada, food court vendors serving halal food, everyone loves East Indian Asian food, but these guys have been serving us halal for decades apparently without us knowing, as the owner of a large group of restaurants told me personally, When I asked at the mall, and then declined the order, as I was actually a bit shocked when the manager/proprietor came over to the server and said yes, I politely declined the order and suggested he should put up a sign or let people know,,,,I asked my friend if she minded that I go over and order the chinese, as she wanted to continue with the tanduri chicken at the asian place, a few minutes later when I sat down, she was upset because she told me the guy had called security and lied about me making a scene. Security came and my witness told them as well as me that there was no scene, merely a question asked and then a suggestion made, they were just doing their jobs, Later, I called the owner of the now 5-6 of these popular restaurants in the city, years ago only one small place that we used to support, and Harmeet told me that they have served halal for years, both he said, and I told him that if he served halal all those years and didn’t tell anyone it was sneaky and that he should tell his son in law who runs the mall kiosk that it should be made public. He got mad at me, and I ended the conversation, but when I spoke to the mall manager, he had already spoken to and investigated and told me even though I had a witness, he believed the proprietor that I had caused a scene. Bullies like this make it so frustrating He also told me that many people and restaurants serve halal, and mentioned that if I went to ……. I coiuld be eating lamb imported from New Zealand, that was halal, The restaurant he mentioned is a very exclusive and expensive restaurant in Edmonton, which oddly, I had just had dinner at the previous night, so I called the owner of this place to tell him what the mall manager had told me, likely a comment made from Harmeet who was trying to downplay the whole halal thing, as the mall manager could not even pronounce halal let alone know what it meant….
There is no legislation in Canada, or any province to protect the consumers and let them know if they are eating halal, however, on the other hand, there is definately legislation to protect the islamics, so that any meat labelled halal, must conform to all the ritualistic procedures.
