Rio Mass Murder: Muslim Opens Fire on Children’s School, 11 Dead, 20 Wounded, Suicide Note “References to Islamic fundamentalism”

67
Rio

I think it's important to note that all of the headlines in the news reports in Portuguese call the murderer an Islamic suicide bomber and report that his letter refers to Islam, while none of the English outlets are reporting this critical clue.

"In recent months, she said, he appeared to have got closer to Islam."

At least 11 people, mostly children, died Thursday and more that 15 were wounded when an armed man attacked a school in Realengo in the poor suburbs of Rio de Janeiro.

Story continues below advertisement

According to a preliminary police report, the attacker – a 24- year-old former student at the school – was among the dead after shooting himself in the head. He attacked Tasso da Silveira school, where some 400 students ages 9-14 were in classes. […]

Beltrami described the letter as 'the words of a person who no longer believes in anything, full of sentences that made no sense and references to Islamic fundamentalism.'

Huh? He no longer believes in anything but made references to Islam?

Beltrami said the attacker was friendly as he went into the school, chatting with administrators and teachers and asking for permission to address the children. When he reached the third floor of the building, the suspect entered one of the classrooms and started to shoot at students, killing nine girls and one boy.

The attacker apparently committed suicide upon being chased by a police officer who had been called in by a student who managed to escape the building

Roselane de Oliveira, a sister of the attacker, told Rio de Janeiro radio station Band News that the young man 'was very strange.'

'He had no friends, and he spent all his time on the Internet,' she said.

In recent months, she said, he appeared to have got closer to Islam.

Police stressed, however, that there was no concrete evidence that the attack had either a religious or a political motive.

Rio school shooting: official says 13 children dead Guardian

Witnesses tell how gunman opened fire on pupils at Tasso da Silveira primary school in Rio de Janeiro

As many as 20 pupils are feared dead after a gunman opened fire in a primary school in western Rio de Janeiro.

The vice-mayor of western Rio said 13 people had died in the shooting at Tasso da Silveira primary school, although it was not clear if that figure was accurate or included the attacker. Edmar Teixeira said the gunman was a 24-year-old former student who pretended to be giving a speech to students before opening fire with two handguns. When police appeared at the scene the gunman shot himself dead, Teixeira said. He left behind a letter outlining his motives.

One witness told the Guardian he had seen between 15 and 20 children dead or seriously wounded.

"It is a massacre, a true massacre," said Roni de Macedo, a fireman who arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting began and dragged eight seriously injured children from the school.

"There is blood on the walls, blood on the chairs. There are 15 to 20 dead I think," said De Macedo, who was covered in blood. "I've never seen anything like this. It's like something in the United States."

The hits keep coming. There was a pipebomb that exploded outsie a Chabad house in Los Angeles. It exploded at 6:45 a.m. (services are at 7:00 a.m.). So far they say there were no casualties. I won’t say my suspicions as to what group — if any– pulled off this terrorist attack for now. Maybe more information will come out later.
Incidentally these Chabad are the coolest, friendliest people around. Here they are at the Kotel helping me put on tefellin: HERE

Those in Brazil show their bias and contempt for the US when it’s said, “it’s like something in the United States”. Uh, hello, it’s something like from the Middle East. We don’t go around shooting our school children (at least not in the last 10 years since Columbine was the last. College are adults so I didn’t include VT). They do all over the ME so don’t even, Brazil, compare us to them. . . yet.

“Its like something in the United States” WOW… Like something EVERYWHERE!! Like something you constantly see where the word Islam is involved. Reprehensible! Our “Genius in the White House” just said today “No religion supports the slaughter or beheading of innocent people”…. Ahh yes, Taqiyya my dear people. I have read the Islamic Trilogy and YES IT DOES! These innocent children were just that, innocents. He had no beliefs? He sure made references to Islamic Fundamentals though. When are people going to realize that these extremist clerics are evil? What they teach is radical? There aim to kill all non-Muslims and for that matter Progressive Muslims(they are seen as hypocrites to Islam)? So lets keep pushing for embracing Islam, keep up the integration and wipe out society!!

I wish Brazil or ANY country had the Huevos to outlaw islam and expel all muslims from their country. There is some kind of world wide unwillingness to face the truth about islam. World leaders and the media instead cowtow to the muslims and try to “understand” it while telling us to “respect” it. It’s like a PETA activist trying to “reason” wilh a rabid dog. Historically the only thing muslims ever “respect” is more force and violence than they show the rest of the world. He killed 15 kids? I’m burning 15 korans. Fuck islam, fuck mohammed and fuck the camel he rode in on. God damned bunch of inbred paedophiles and baby killers, the whole lot.

“Huh? He no longer believes in anything but made references to Islam?”-Pamela
Actually, in a funky way “not believing anything” (especially anything rational) is a perfect description of the nihilism at the core of Islam.
All of the other human religions: main-stream Judaism, Christianity etc., have strong traditions of seeing faith (revelation from holy books) as no replacement for reason, for open questioning of dogmas, for skepticism, and see that “faith” and the use of Gd’s gift of reason are all compatible with a compassionate Gd.
In Islam, openly questioning dogmas and Islamic practices (as in female genital mutilation, honor killings, Jew-hating suras etc.) can get a believer killed.
(Islam is a kind of slavery dogma for the mind-which is why I think no new creative thought comes from Islamic dominated societies. Tiny Israel (e.g.) produces more wealth (especially high-tech) than all the Muslim countries combined. That’s because the Jewish Faith does not ask a person to check their ability to reason, to critically analyse, at the door.)
Islam is nihilistic at its core. It denies human reason in the name of “faith.”

I’d like to see a full transcript of the letter. The excerpts I saw were in Portuguese and didn’t mention Islam, although it did mention about apologizing to God and Jesus. Most of it was about how to handle his body after death, not to let anyone “impure” touch it and so on. His sister claimed he was getting closer to Islam and she should know.

Dear Pamela…At last, we have Jihad in Rio. I’ve been reading, researching and sharing all the information about Islam for the last five or six years, but I could never ever think it would come this close. As it happens in the U.S., it seems our major newspapers and tv’s have already started to hide this information from the public opinion. God save us all.

I read and speak Portuguese and no, the man was not Muslim. He had mental problems. He had a loose screw. At first, people were thinking he was Muslim, or that he studied about the Islam on the Internet. But the letter clearly doesn’t have any reference about Islam. Actually, he talks a lot about Jesus and people who were not pure. It’s a very weird and confusing letter. I have a good Brazilian friend who lives in Rio and she said that this is the first time an event like this happened here. It’s all very sad. Here’s the man’s farewell letter in Portuguese (feel free to translate it into English and you will see there’s no reference to Islam whatsoever):

Early hiperbole in the media asserted that the attacker had HIV. This has since been found to be a rumor. This is a horrible tragedy, but it is a disservice to the situation to rush to snap judgements.I think this was a troubled young man with a religious bent which includes strong Christian elements. There is no mention of islam in his suicide note whatsoever. Nor is the headline of every brasilian newspaper calling him an islamic suicide bomber.
” I need the visit of a faithful follower of the lord at least once at my grave, I need him to pray before my grave asking God’s forgiveness for what I have done and that Jesus awake me from the slumber of death and lead me to eternal life.”
Here is the full text of the suicide note in Portuguese:

About his suicide note –
“unclean” people not touching body – Muslims pay particular attention to being clean (wahing before prayers etc)
Ditto obsession with virgins and non-adultery.
And demanding the dead body to be bathed, then wrapped in a simple cloth – in other words, a typical Muslim funeral

While the murderer may not be an ‘official’ Muslim, and regardless of whether he mentions Islam on his farewell letter or not, there is NO DOUBT he was getting “closer to Islam” and drew much inspiration from its teachings. His own sister said that, and some of the radio stations here (I’m a Southern Brazilian from countryside SP) were mentioning other evidences of his Islamic connections — his “long beard”, for instance, didn’t seem to be inspired by Merlin the Magician.
Yes, this monster was gunpowder by himself. But I very much doubt whether, say, Buddhism, would have ignited him.

Paulista,
If you are not careful, your mindset will bring disaster to your homeland and to your culture. Educate yourself before you and those you love are victimized. The following is taken from http://www.politicalislam.com/tears/pages/tears-of-jihad/
Tears of Jihad
These figures are a rough estimate of the death of non-Muslims by the political act of jihad.
Africa
Thomas Sowell [Thomas Sowell, Race and Culture, BasicBooks, 1994, p. 188] estimates that 11 million slaves were shipped across the Atlantic and 14 million were sent to the Islamic nations of North Africa and the Middle East. For every slave captured many others died. Estimates of this collateral damage vary. The renowned missionary David Livingstone estimated that for every slave who reached a plantation, five others were killed in the initial raid or died of illness and privation on the forced march.[Woman’s Presbyterian Board of Missions, David Livingstone, p. 62, 1888] Those who were left behind were the very young, the weak, the sick and the old. These soon died since the main providers had been killed or enslaved. So, for 25 million slaves delivered to the market, we have an estimated death of about 120 million people. Islam ran the wholesale slave trade in Africa.
120 Million Africans
———————————–
Christians
The number of Christians martyred by Islam is 9 million [David B. Barrett, Todd M. Johnson, World Christian Trends AD 30-AD 2200, William Carey Library, 2001, p. 230, table 4-10] . A rough estimate by Raphael Moore in History of Asia Minor is that another 50 million died in wars by jihad. So counting the million African Christians killed in the 20th century we have:
60 million Christians
———————————-
Hindus
Koenard Elst in Negationism in India gives an estimate of 80 million Hindus killed in the total jihad against India. [Koenard Elst, Negationism in India, Voice of India, New Delhi, 2002, pg. 34.] The country of India today is only half the size of ancient India, due to jihad. The mountains near India are called the Hindu Kush, meaning the “funeral pyre of the Hindus.”
80 million Hindus
—————————————
Buddhists
Buddhists do not keep up with the history of war. Keep in mind that in jihad only Christians and Jews were allowed to survive as dhimmis (servants to Islam); everyone else had to convert or die. Jihad killed the Buddhists in Turkey, Afghanistan, along the Silk Route, and in India. The total is roughly 10 million. [David B. Barrett, Todd M. Johnson, World Christian Trends AD 30-AD 2200, William Carey Library, 2001, p. 230, table 4-1.]
10 million Buddhists
————————————————–
270 Million; think about it.This list doesn’t include the role that the Mufti played with the Nazi camps. See Pamela’s story for that info: http://b1ff5939f6.nxcli.net/us-confirms-role-of-mufti-as-nazi-leader-september-17-1945

Bj,
I am very well educated and travelled. I am waiting to see what the Policia Federal has to say once they finish their inquiry. Let let the dust settle and the facts come to light. I am not going to pull at straws and go into conspiracy theory. We know very little about the situation at present. I could sit here and post translated newsflashes but until we have hard facts its hard to find the wheat from the chaff.
You should read up on the history of Brasil and Latin America. A large scale religious war was fought in Europe and then in Latin America. It went from victory to villany all too quickly. By Sword or by Word millions fell. Religious Zealotry comes in many forms but it is all evil. I grew up under a military dictatorship which controlled the media through censorship and used fear as an instrument to manipulate the masses. That gave me a healthy skepticism about media which will stick with me for the rest of my life. When I watch American News I see soo much of it as being propaganda engineered to divide rather than inform.

well, Paulista, the culture war is coming, like it or not… It’s coming, because of people who desire to come to Brazil saying “Brazil needs to know about Islam”. (although, truth be told, I believe Foz do Iguacu has been a nice melting-pot of Al Q’aida & Hezbollah supporters for quite some time. Visited by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and, according to some, OBL himself).
Shame – I agree. Brazil is a very nice place without the “conflict” plaguing America and Europe. Because it’s been hardly-influenced by the Religion of Peace?? But even some of my Brazilian friends who went to Canada are surprised and ask – “why do they allow in so many Muslims?”.
And here’s the key – if you want to avoid the worst of the culture war (France-style car burnings, Britain-style teenage girl “grooming”, Australian-style gang-rapes or America-style terrorist compounds), sort out your immigration policy early, make Brazilian visas for citizens of Muslim countries really hard to get, don’t agree to refugee relocations… now is the time to act!!

The Brazilian blog De Olho na Jihad, “Eye on Jihad”, has coverage (I used Google translation which is good enough to get the gist). There’s a jpeg image of the note with the signature of Wellington Menezes de Oliveira. There’s chilling security camera footage from “TV O Dia” of the school corridor showing the gunman preparing his weapon as he enters the classroom, the fleeing children, and his flight under police fire. This footage editing is not the same as the AP supplied footage embedded in the Daily Mail article mentioned in previous comments: the DM footage begins with the fleeing children. The last part is different too. The TV O Dia footage finished with someone fleeing under fire: I’m not sure if this is a victim or the killer (there’s a puff of powder from a bullet strike on the drywall).
