Télé-Québec: The Mavericks, Interview Pamela Geller

35

UPDATE: Atlas reader M pulled the audio of the interview, listen here: Download GellerInterviewQue

I spent close to 90 minutes with TeleQuebec, and they broadcast the interview with me, here, last night. It was not friendly, but so what? It was interesting. I cannot view it in my region; maybe you can. If anyone has seen it, let me know what you think. The Canadian hate mail was coming in so — it must have been, uh, controversial.

You were excellent Pamela. Indeed, today, Stephen Harper is the leader of the free world. No, it’s not easy to be you, but someone has to do the job. People like you, Spender and Wilders are the only hope for freedom loving people. God bless you.

Quebec is definitely not the voice of Canada, but you likely knew that going in, too.
Our family certainly thanks you, and those with you, for all you do to keep these issues in front of us all.
Besides, it sort of tickles the funnybone, call me cheeky, to have those others in that province poked a little…keep it up…..thanks to those who interviewed.

Don’t despair Pamela. Paradoxically, the Quebecois are banning burquas, niqabs, etc., whereas the rest of Canada generally tolerates Muslim headcoverings (except where they should be removed for identity purposes). You are being criticized by Quebecois on their weakest point: “multiculturalism” — e.g. foreign born taxi drivers are fined for displaying religious symbols in their cabs in Quebec! Totally hypocritical, and the rest of Canada views it as anti-libertarian.
French-Canadians often view other cultural symbols as a threat to their own unique cultural identity within Canada. Whereas, I’m sure Pamela Geller is not that worried about Muslims practicing innocuous elements of their culture — so long as it doesn’t include blowing people up, cutting off their heads, enslaving women, honour killing, terror support, etc., etc.

Pamela,
I watched this interview just now. I am from Quebec and French-speaking. I can tell you that you held your own fantastically. Your interviewer was basically inarticulate compared to you . He kept coming up with the same thing “A communist? Come on!” He really had nothing to say to back his ideas.
I don’t know if you realized it, but prior to the interview, he introduced you as a “militant extremist”, promoting a “reign of paranoia amongst Republicans”. Also, while you said your site was ranked 23rd in the world of bloggers, there was a notice above you, saying that in reality you were 521st.
If you got nasty e-mails, l can tell you, it was probably from the anti-semitic muslims – to name a few, “moroccans, egyptians, syrians, and those people who claim “palestinianhood”, living mainly in Montreal. And there are plenty of them. Why? Because ‘they speak french’. So the gov’t of Quebec, in their infinite wisdom, decided to open their doors wide to them, for that very reason. On top of that, the french separatists (who want to break up Canada) sympathize with the arabs, particularly those who live in Israel’s territories, because they see a similarity with their own “plight” of wanting their own country, or being “enslaved”.
I can tell you a lot more about the Quebec nationalists and the festering, militant, muslim communities in this province, but I wouldn’t want to sully your page.
Suffice it to say, there is not much pro-American or pro-Israel sentiment here.
On another note, yes we do have a great Prime Minister! Stephen Harper is a solid, no nonsense, no pomp, kind of man. He’s a straight shooter, and certainly knows right from wrong, evil from good. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say we are heading toward Communism! We are definitely not going that road! Do we have medicare? Yes. Is is working so well? Not perfectly, but we still live well and long enough to enjoy our life of freedom. We are still a civilized country. We don’t imprison and torture people for their thoughts.
Primary evidence that we are not commies – we can’t stand the Russian hockey team, and most of their players want to come here!
So don’t call me a commie!
But Pamela, even if I disagree with you on that, I still think you’re doing a great job!

This week we look at the mavericks, a New York specialty. Richard Martineau goes to meet a type not often seen in Quebec: a die-hard neoconservative in high heels please! Pamela Geller is a popular and highly controversial lady-blogger from the right who is opposed to Islam and believes that Obama is a Communist! We underline that she is also an ardent admirer of Stephen Harper…

Canadianna, Stephen Harper is still NOT conservative enough!!!! He’s pro-choice and isn’t really trying to roll back the “Liberal-Socialist” agenda put into place by Trudeau, Mulroney, Chrétien and Paul Martin – it seems he’s merely trying to hang on to power for power’s sake (he physically even reminds me of Brian Mulroney who for me is a byword for corruption!!!).
Otherwise, perhaps when the Muslims start strutting their real stuff (this could be a hint for those of us in Ontario and outside of Québec to push for their Muslim population to go there!!), the Québecois will realise what they’ll lose (IF they wake up on time…).
Finally, if the interviewer was calling Ms. Geller a “Communist”, he truly doesn’t know what Communism really is!!!!!
In all events, Ms. Geller, BRAVA for all your work – keep it up!!!!

Merely hanging on to power? The party’s been steadily gaining, or haven’t you noticed?

Bravo Pamela on your interview on French language TV in Quebec. I doubt you would have been given a forum on English language TV in Canada, which is far more politically correct, if you can believe it. It’s great to hear a conservative voice – which is rare in a Quebec dominated by trade unions, bloated public sector and socialist politicians. After 40 years of socialism, we are living with the results: high poverty rates, low wages, high taxes, little private investment, heavily rationed medical service, failing public schools, corruption in politics, etc. I’m not trying to bash Quebec; I think that the truth needs to be told, so we could begin to put a stop on poorly thought our social policies.

I am an avid reader of your blog from Canada and a sworn supporter of Stephen Harper and our very own conservative party here in Canada.
This is how the media works by using double speak and trying to make you look like a nutcase but never letting you finish a statement.
Yet, you must realize that it is a very Francophone trait to argue and debate any topic. If you can hold your own against them then your gain their respect which I believe you did. Unfortunately, as someone else mentioned in a previous comment. The Quebec provincial government is allowed to have their own immigration rules aside from our federal ones and lets in as many french foreign speakers as they can to keep the french majority in their province. Which means there are tons of french muslims coming in droves. If you walk around downtown Montreal on any given day you will see muslim men in their nice stylish clothes followed (always followed) by a completely covered meek muslim wife. So any negative feedback from any franco’s will be from the muslim population or their blind, liberal supporters. I have nightmares of the day that the liberal party here gets back in power–they are far worse then Obama, believe me.

Thank you, Pamela for having done this difficult interview. Not everybody in Quebec think like Richard Martineau, but of course we are ridiculed because it is not politically correct to think otherwise than the mainstream media. Thank you also for your blog from which we learn a lot.
You are perfectly true when you say that our country is leaning toward communism because we can feel our individual liberties shrinking day after day, especially in Quebec.

Pamela,
In talking to a fella I know, who talks with a special group of people who wear yarmulkes and the American Military. He is known as the Voice of Reason with them, I know him by another name.
He said that the reason for hostility for you with the Quebec T.V. interview, is that you brought it out into the open about Campbell’s soup wanting to bring in a Halal line for the muzzies. The talks between Campbell’s soup company and the Islamamentians happened in Quebec. They were hoping to set up a Halal slaughtering plant there to supply Campbell’s with the meat that would be needed and also to start selling the Halal meat to other places.
When you brought this to light you cost them a lot of revenue in Quebec!
Unfortunately for Quebec they are seen by the rest of Canada as parasites. Always asking for special things, which have been given, paid for by the rest of Canada. Then threatening to break away if they are not getting everything they demand!
Reminds me of Islamamentians in a way….they are also demanding to have their special needs met, which everyone has to bend over backwards to give them or else they threaten to do nasty deeds! Quebec will soon find out that just because some Islamamentians speak French, they don’t think like the French-Canadien! They have there own agenda and Quebecers will be the ones to get trounced on and become slaves to the Islamamentian way of life!
A word of advice to Quebec….better vote for Prime Minister Harper…he’s your only saving grace to keep your little area of Canada free from becoming Islamamentian land!

Redneck Woman
Redneck Woman

What individual liberties have been shrinking for you in Quebec?
From what I have seen in the past 30 years the French in Quebec have got it pretty good. They have their own distinct society which allows them to demand that only the French language can be on signs, everyone has to speak French. Even the English schools are being attacked because they speak English!
I hate to break it to you but you still live in Canada which is mostly English speaking.I suggest that you get with the times and learn to speak English cause the rest of Canada is getting darn tired of having to speak French just because you want it to!
Canada is not becoming Communist. Hopefully though we will stop all the PC crap and start telling it like it is! If anyone has a problem with that then maybe they should move to another country like Iran and see what fun that would be!

1. Woe’s you that you’re pro-choice – isn’t that what the Liberals and NDP anyway support (have you ever really researched what abortion truly involves)??
2. Pierre Elliott Trudeau was an absolute DISASTER for Canada (my grandfather immediately labelled him a Communist!!) – it would have been better that he had never been elected (maybe best had he never been even born!)!!
3. Majority governments these days are far too influenced by the big cities, which in today’s world are the most leftist of all. That’s why I feel less than happy about the thought thereof.

There is a market here in Quebec for conservatism.
I read Martineau’s blog regularly, and he’s somewhat conservative in nature. He’s refreshing in that he often questions leftist orthodoxies and displays a healthy skepticism regarding those recieved orthodoxies that have dominated quebec society since the 60s.
Martineau is also not afraid to ridicule islamists.
I missed the broadcast of your interview, but I will watch it on the web.
The media in English Canada are far to leftist, “sophisticated” and cosmopolitan to ever want to interview you, Pamela, but at least Quebecers will be acquainted with you.
Kudos to you!

First, we never spoke of Campbell’s or my calls for a boycott.
Secondly, it was not halal that was the issue but the Muslim Brotherhood group Campbell’s partnered with that I had an issue with, the Islamic Society of North America.

Not all Canadians are leftist losers, Pamela. Hopefully, this will help to get
the word out. Forget the Lamestream Media. They are as lost a cause up here, as
they are in America. I’m watching events in America closely. Just as the Canadian

tied to American freedom. Keep fighting the good fight! God bless.

He knew what to do about Quebec doing her shinanigans! He also knew what to do about the Oil industry also! If he was still in power now do you think the Islamamentians would get anything.. let alone come into Canada? I don’t think so!
He definitely is not like Obama! Trudeau loved Canada. Obama hates America for reasons that are incomprehensible. Perhaps he feels the blacks have had a raw deal since slavery, even though there were lots of white slaves. Perhaps it’s his Muslim upbringing and the screwy ideas that that puts into ones Psych….Whatever the case…he’s no Trudeau!

True…you did not talk about it…but the Muslim Brotherhood and Campbell’s were making a deal in Quebec. It would not be out of the realm of possibilities for these reporters to know about it and feel the need to make you look foolish. They wouldn’t mention it because they wanted to attack you on your comments that have been heard a lot….such as Obama.
You did excellent during the interview!! High Five to you! You did not allow him to get the upperhand during your interview and you explained yourself very well.
My comment above that I posted BTW was what had been told to me. I have no reason to doubt what VOR told me. He’s been right too many times.

Yes, Trudeau did the right thing regarding the FLQ, though it was against his will. He didn’t want to go as far as the War Measures Act called upon (he thought of it as too strong!!). As to the Muslims, I wouldn’t be that sanguine: he most certainly was a leftist (and you know how happy the left is to ally itself with Islâm in their mutual quest to destroy Western Civilisation): not for nothing that Margaret Thatcher called him “wet” (apparently like in “wet behind the ears”). Anybody who could be sympathetic to Fidel Castro (as Trudeau and his wife actually were!) can’t be a real centrist, let alone a real rightist.
Furthermore, I’m not so sure Trudeau loved Canada at heart. If he did, why did he insult people in Alberta with an obscene gesture? [Or did he think of them as non-Canadians? Yes, non-Ontarians and non-Québecois, but still Canadians every bit as much as you or me…]
Why does Obama hate the USA? I’ll go on a limb and say that it’s BOTH his Muslim upbringing AND his Marxist roots by both training and ideology.

I wish you were right, “Redneck Woman”. Most unfortunately, thanks to precisely that “political-correctness” (I’ve known people who OPENLY welcome and favour it!!!), “hate-speech” laws, blatant attacks upon those of us who oppose such measures and the groups who support them (e.g., “Human-Rights Commissions”) – even to the extremes of the desecration of churches in Montréal in 1996 and 2000 – it’s most obvious that the Communists are drowning the rest of us and our rights!!!
[The groups that especially are spearheading those attacks include militant “pro-choicers” (who’re really pro-abortionists), “radical” feminists and sexual deviants {man-hating lesbians in particular!} plus other “social-activists” for various “causes of the day” (e.g., environmentalism)!! It’s those groups which are most vocal and actually dangerous in that regard, and in their ranks the Communists are most active indeed!!!]

Great job, Pamela. As Canadianna pointed out above, they did label you upfront as a “militant extremist”, & the overall tone of the interview was confrontational. However, you were articulate as always, showing much grace under fire. Their attempts to poke holes in your arguments were not convincing.
If you are passing through Toronto, it would be great to see you on the Michael Coren Show (http://www.ctstv.com/michaelcoren/index.php), which is a freedom-of-speech-loving forum for open debate, & broadcast nationally.
As for comments above on Pierre Trudeau, I have to agree with ADHD. It is my understanding that in the days of his youth, PET was a card-carrying communist. How easy it is for those born with silver spoons in their mouths to bask in swinging extreme to total government control, especially when their own entrenched affluence is in no danger whatsoever. Shame!

I’ve also to bear in mind the outright REFUSAL of Canadian authorities to allow the Serbian-American scholar Srđa Trifković (pronounced “Srdzha Trífkovich” – there’s NO vowel at all between the ‘s’ and the ‘r’ unless one thinks of it as a “schwa”, like a mute ‘e’!) into our country to address the University of British Columbia, thanks to the pressure of Islamists (who, you better be aware, are the Commies’ allies!!!!). This too also helps give the lie to your assertion about Canada not becoming Communist (or Muslim, for that matter), sad to have to say…
