Don Trump at CPAC: “Ron Paul has Zero Chance of Getting Elected”

41

Best speech of the day, I gotta tell you.

Money quote of the day from Donald Trump, "Ron Paul cannot get elected." Crowd goes wild. Yay and nay. I was whoooping. Best line.

And this, "If I run and if I win, this country will be respected again."

didn’t he say the same thing about Sarah Palin yesterday? She can’t be elected, Ron Paul can’t be elected. Only Don Trump (the guy who want to reduce our standard of living by slapping on a 25% tax on the things we buy)

Exactly. This kind of economic protectionism and mercantilism is just stupid.
Trump wants to beat China? Start by fixing corruption, debt, lower taxes, reduce the size of gov’t and gov’t spending, etc. You can’t beat China by punishing them for selling you stuff below equilibrium market prices – anyone sane should want such a deal.
Hoping for Bolton or Allen West to run.

Australia taxes their chinese imports and weathered the world wide economnic crisis better then anyone with a 5-6% unemployment rate. Be very wary of anyone who criticizes the 25% tax on China. This is probably influenced by greedy big business/ Lobbying groups. Or their just chinese, lol. Taxing China is the smartest thing we could do to increase domestic productivity and bring back american jobs.

Anybody reading this blog got the guts to support this (including the Donald) as a substitute for our decadent tax and entitlement policies? Replace all taxes and entitlements, including Social Security, Medicare (I’m on both), Medicaid, student loans and grants, state and federal welfare, and all other such programs to “redistribute wealth”. This is about creating wealth!
TAX AND ENTITLEMENT REFORM
1. All persons residing in the U.S. shall come together in households for the purpose of reporting all income from any source, each item to be identified by payer’s and payee’s tax number, and for receipt of federal and state benefits. Members of a household need not be related, need not reside together, and a household may consist of as few as one person.
2. Each year congress shall set by legislation a “minimum wage” and a “tax rate”.
3. The following income shall not be subject to taxation:
• An amount equal to a year’s earnings at the minimum wage rate, for each adult (age 20-65) member of the household, decreasing 10% per year to 50% at age 15, and increasing 10% per year to 150% at age 70.
• All payments for what is classified as necessary health care for all members of the household including medical care, any pharmaceuticals prescribed by a recognized health care professional, vision and hearing aids, and membership fees for health-enhancing entities such as gyms or other exercise facilities. Health care insurance premiums may be deducted but not health care expense paid for by such insurance.
• All educational expenses including day care for young children or legally incompetent persons, that portion of state and local taxes identified as spent on education, that portion of parochial school tuition, fees and other expenses identified as going for non-sectarian education, tuition, fees and educational materials for private school education at any level, and a per-diem allowance for students traveling more than 50 miles from primary residence for education.
• All income saved into an identified account from which investments may be made. All withdrawals from this account for the benefit of any member of the household shall be reported as income to that member.
4. The “tax rate” shall be applied to any income over and above the deductions listed above, regardless of amount.
5. At the request, by legislation duly enacted by any municipality having greater than 100,000 inhabitants or any state, a surtax may be imposed on citizens of that municipality or state which shall be applied in a manner exactly as applied for the Federal tax.
6. For households whose deductions exceed total income, the Federal Government shall make payment equal to the tax rate multiplied by the shortfall in income, as shall municipalities and states.
7. There shall be no federal tax on corporations or other business entities.
8. The Office of Management and Budget shall compute revenues to be expected using the newly set tax rate and minimum wage, applied to the previous year’s reported incomes. No expenses in excess of that amount may be authorized or made by the federal government without approval by 75% of each house of Congress.
Your suggestions sincerely requested. E-mail them to [email protected].

I guess you don’t have to have been in the New York Libertarian Party in the 70s to stand up and cheer when someone says, “Ron Paul cannot get elected”, but believe me, it helps! There’s nothing like close sustained contact with hardcore capital-L Libertarian political dementia to innoculate against it for life. Ron Paul is too damn close to the sort of nut I used to argue with who insisted that it was immoral to cut the rope a burglar had tied you up with if it was his property. (This is not to denigrate small-l libertarian, small-c conservative, or Objectivist, of which I am one.)
BOLTON/WEST 2012. All right, that probably won’t happen, but let’s at least start out by raising the bar that high.

Trump is right that Ron Paul has zero chance of getting elected. What he’s wrong about is thinking that his chance of getting elected is better than zero. And, frankly, do we really want a President Trump, simply because he says the right thing sometimes? I know I don’t.

Jim Sever
Jim Sever

Here’s how I see it. The President has to be the Bullcrap Master, say the right things and lead us to a more limited government, like eliminate the Department of Education which Trump wants to do. NOBODY is more qualified to be the Bullcrap Master than Donald Trump.. Then he appoints Ron Paul to Treasury Secretary, John Bolton Secretary of State and so on. And the tax on China is a great idea until they float their currency. That will eliminate the need for the tax. Trump’s china tax idea has nothing to do with isolationism. China is effectively dumping every single thing they export because their currency is so far undervalued

Oh please, not another social engineer who proposes to fix everything by manipulating behavior through tax legislation. Maybe you should apply for Cass Sunstein’s job. Your minimum wage and guaranteed household income proposal is particularly repulsive. We’re adults. We want to abolish the nanny state.
I’ve got a better idea. Cut spending. Cut taxes. Cut regulation. Adopt Rand Paul’s $500 billion in budget cuts as a first step. Abolish fiat currency and adopt an objective monetary standard – or just allow the market to select it’s preferred forms of money. Liberate America by liberating capitalism. Move to a minimal state (courts, police, & defense only) as quickly as possible. Liberate the individual to achieve his or her personal values.

Trump is a chump….I like that! You’re correct….If he thinks Everyone will respect America again just because he’s sitting in the Oval Office, I’d say he’s been off his meds for too long!Criminy sake..he has all that money and he can’t even buy a decent wig!! He should just stick with what he knows and leave running the country to someone else who has at least a clue on how to balance a budget!
Sarah has been there and done that. She knows what it’s like to not be rolling in the money….
She’s my pick! BTW….she also can’t be bought by the Saudi’s but good ole Donald can! Guess he thought 3 billion had a nice ring to it!! Wonder if he’d be upset to know they gave Obama 35 billion and it’s sitting there in a Saudi Bank account!

“Money quote of the day from Donald Trump, “Ron Paul cannot get elected.” Crowd goes wild. Yay and nay. I was whoooping. Best line.”-Pamela
Trump is creating a straw-man because Paul knows he can’t be nominated. In fact, Ron Paul was on Bloomberg Radio about a month ago (interviewed by Kathleen Hays) and he said his role in politics is to “influence.” He dismissed the mirage of power, and pointed out that “ideas” are very powerful in history when they are based in reason. He’s right on that. (But Paul had better also take notice of how many irrational people have influenced, and even gotten power in history.)
I think Paul has valid criticisms of the Fed that should be taken seriously-though I think abolishing the Central Bank is not a good idea since bank failures lead to great depressions (every time) in history because of a liquidity crisis. However, I think Paul is right that there is a need for much more transparency at the Fed. I think he rightly suspects a lot of crony “Capitalism” at the Fed, including the bail-outs of foreign banks (which has occurred).
This is an institution that can create 600 billion dollars out of air (so-called qualitative easing). That’s incredible power. There needs to be more transparency at the Fed.

Ron Paul is really interested in ideas, and if Trump knows that then he’s a demagogue, and if he doesn’t know that then he may have poor judgement of people. In listing to Paul during House finance hearings (on Bloomberg) I have come to wonder if Paul is even a politician. He does not conform his views to the political winds. In one interview he mentioned Senator Robert Taft as an important influence in 20th century America in some context or other. Paul is similar to Taft as a “politician.” He appears to admire Taft.

Just be mindful people that Obama was elected. So out there in this
crazy mixed up world there are shitz for brains who don’t dig in
and research the candidate for President. It’s our role to focus
on the character of a person, have they done evil things?
I don’t know but for me, Obama being given the senator position,
but turning out to be the most liberal senator in history is pretty
noteworthy. In his term as senator he voted for partial birth
abortion, a viable baby being murdered at term. Also, he voted
to allow those viable term babies to die a slow and cold death,
IF..IF..they survived a botched abortion. Yes, so the discussion was
that the nurses would not be allowed, nor the doctors, to perform
any lifesaving measures to this poor soul, when newborns who were
“wanted” were in similiar dire straights in another part of
the maternity ward, being given life
saving measures, swaddled in blankets, and put on respirators and
such. Nurses testified to congress about this and his vote was
to not save the newborn baby, not even when fate change the course
of it’s fate. The man is sick in the head, yet Americans ran to
the voting booths to pull the trigger for this vile, ego maniacle
creep and beyond that…What is in a name? Hussein Obama? Just those
first two issues alone made my skin crawl and then the rest of the
nonesense he doesn’t even have to be answerable for..It’s absurd!
I want a real American, someone who has almost lost his own life
to protect our nation, someone who has the attitude of a regular
run of the mill American, that guy for loads of reasons is Allen
West, fresh faced, that is what someone said he was, and so what?
His fresh face, his bold stance on the issues of today, plus what
he did to before he left the military says to me, he’s my guy!

I really hope Trump is correct in saying Ron Paul has zero chance of being elected. Crusty old Ron Paul agrees with the building of the Ground Zero Mosque. He even resorts to the same logical fallacy about “McVeigh being a Christian, and we didn’t indict every Christian for the Oklahoma bombings. Therefore we shouldn’t blame the entire Islamic religion”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRBYmhjKTI4
Ron Paul might be great for fixing the economy and downsizing big government, but his non-intervention stance in the face of evil Islam seems simplistic/idealistic at best. He thinks that if we “just leave Muslims alone”, they’ll stop attacking us. In fact, he seems so sure that he’s right about this, that I doubt he even has a backup plan to deal with the fallout, when Islamists prove him wrong. He also equates Islam to other peaceful world religions. It’s unfortunate, because Ron Paul might otherwise make a good candidate, but he obviously doesn’t get the entire picture. Many of his supporters are 9/11 Truthers who subscribe to the New World Order theory so deeply, that they believe Elitists on the Right & Left have manufactured the entire global conflict between Islam and the West as form of misdirection, so that they can advance their one-world-government agenda. They claim that this conflict started with the Freemasons/Knights Templar launching the crusades and seeking to conquer Muslim lands centuries ago.
While there’s probably some truth to the NWO agenda, anyone who can stretch their imagination to firmly believe the wildest conspiracy theories based on nothing more than speculation, while simultaneously ignoring all the solid truths and evidence of worldwide problems caused by Islam, is not living in the real world. With the kinds of supporters Ron Paul attracts, it seems he will always be on the fringe and not taken seriously enough to ever get elected.

I love Bolton and West! I don’t care for Trump but as Madeleine said, “there are shitz for brains who don’t dig in and research the candidate for President”. We have become a nation of American idol nitwits and the vast majority of voters have no clue who Bolton or West are. We are at a time of grave danger and my bottom line is that we MUST GET RID of BHO and his marxist scum!!! Trump has name recognition and a HUGE ego. I pray we can last 2 more years and practically anyone who runs against BHO, has my vote. I do think that if BHO loses, he will completely destroy America as a lame duck. He would not be a candy ass like the one in office now with reference to muslim extremism, wouldn’t be afraid to try people in this country for treason, racially profile, close down schools that teach hatred of America, and he would kick to the curb ANYONE in the government that did not express the ideals of this country and its constitution.
Under a Trump presidency, the Ft. Hood shooter, nadal hassan would never have happened.

All these people, especially John Bolton, would be great. The problem is they don’t have name recognition. And like it or not, (we are talking about the world of politics,) that to defeat obama, the Republicans need a young, attractive and charismatic candidate. Someone mentioned a Palin/Bachmann ticket. Completely unrealistic. Palin does not score well in the polls when it comes to presidential candidates. There is enough time to groom and publicize the right person. Male with a female vp would be ideal. Somebody like Marco Rubio; young, conservative, attractive (don’t underestimate how important that is!)the embodiment of the American dream. He’s the son of Cuban refugees…Latino vote. obama is perceived as very smart, smooth talking and good looking. The Republicans must run someone who can compete on the real political stage where ideals and policy are just not enough.

Sorry, Madame: however, I think of Mr. Donald Trump as a very slick, slimy and unscrupulous wretch whom I would never trust under any circumstances!! That billionaire is practically guaranteed to be easily bought (be it by the Saudi-Arabs, the Commies like Soros and Obama, etc.). Look at how he handled his former wife Ivana, or model Carrie Préjean.
John Bolton and Sarah Palin definitely are people who I like strongly and in whom I’d have confidence were I an American. The others (Trump, Paul, Huckabee, McCain) are all also-rans in comparison!!!

Prince of Fools
Some people havethe vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic. Someone there has figured things out, you in the US have a lot of work to do.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenary capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easierto limit and undo the follies of an Obahma presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgement to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr Obama, who is a mere symptom what ails America. Blaming the Prince of fools should not blnd anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.
The Republic can survive Barack Obahma, who after all is merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president. End of quote.
OK Sarah Palin is OK but it will not be a good choice……you only have two: Allan West and John Bolton in that order. Stop wasting our time with such nit wits as Trump and these other chumps that are strewn around the comments. I´m asking the US to get wise before it is too late. Finally it cannot be to much to ask people to send 5 bucks a month to Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, these two with others are putting their lives on the line for us all. I am utterly grateful to such staunch brave and honest buddys.

Listen up America, to voices from outside. The WORLD needs you, and we need you to get it right for all our sakes. The problem is you’re always looking for the quick fix. That’s how Obama got elected (fixed guilt over slavery in an instant, didn’t it? – and now look at the mess you’re in). If you elect Trump. you’ll merely get different problems, from the other side.
THERE IS NO QUICK FIX. You need to elect experience and determination, and people who KNOW WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON: Bolton/West, Bolton/Bachmann, Bolton/Pawlenty – there are plenty of good choices. Think about it. We love you, America. Get it right, please.
