Pamela Geller, Human Events: Using The Giffords Shooting To Destroy Free Speech

Now it is clear that Jared Loughner was stalking Gabrielle Giffords for years, long before Sarah Palin and her supposed “target” electoral map. Now it is clear that Loughner’s classmates were afraid of him months ago.

One teacher wrote last summer: “Hopefully he will be out of class very soon, and not come back with an automatic weapon.” A student wrote: “He frightened the daylights out of me. I kept saying to people, ‘I’m afraid he’s going to come into the class with a gun.' ”

Story continues below advertisement

Not only was he dangerous, he was a Leftist. Loughner’s high school friend, Caitie Parker, remembers him as a “political radical” who was “Left-wing, quite liberal.” Loughner also has a creepy “music video” up on YouTube, in which he is dressed as a terrorist and burns an American flag.

ow that we know it proves true what I said on Saturday at 4:16 p.m. (Atlas was first with the youtube channel): that Loughner was a Left-wing radical loon. Nonetheless, be warned. The Left is still trying to use this lunatic’s insane actions to try to shut us up.

That’s what the Democrats do. Two proposals are floating. One is designed to tamp down the political rhetoric. What does that mean? It won’t apply to the left — that much is sure. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), said Sunday: “We are in a dark place in this country right now; the atmospheric condition is toxic. Much of it originates here in Washington D.C., and we export it around the country.”

His solution? Muzzle the Right.

This from the congressman who lied and said he heard a “chorus” of Tea Partiers use an ugly racial epithet. Yet no evidence — none — was ever found for this allegation. There were thousands of people there, with hundreds of video cameras rolling. Not one caught this “chorus.” So Cleaver eventually retracted his claim. But now he is proposing speech restrictions? You can’t make this stuff up.

And Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) plans legislation to make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening to a federal official.

First Amendment out the window. Free speech, as long as it is speech the fascists like.

And why is a federal official’s life more valuable than say, mine? I get death threats all the time using jihadic language and Islamic symbols. Let’s outlaw those too, eh?

The killer was a madman — Loughner stalked Giffords for three years. The killer’s eerie note: “I planned ahead.“

Three years. That means that he started before Palin became a key national figure, before the Tea Party and before the 2010 Republican win. So all those charges are just hate propaganda designed to destroy our best people. Loughner was no conservative. He was nuts. Period.

Exception makes bad law. The father of the 9-year-old angel who was shot in the chest does not want restrictions on free speech.

Sarah Palin uses the phrase “blood libel” and all hell breaks loose in the mainstream media, but since day one, the Teflon-coated President Obama has been getting away with referring to his political opposition as “enemies”, using rhetoric like “If they bring a knife to the fight we bring a gun”, and allowing his Attorney-General Eric Holder to say “America is a nation of cowards”, without criticism. Now he says, disingenuously, “Out of this tragedy, we can come together”. Far from being a unifier, Obama is the most calculatingly divisive President America has ever elected. As they say, a fish rots from the head down.

Since the massacre this past weekend, I’ve seen nothing but hate-mongering and vitriol on the internet aimed at the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Jan Brewer, etc. Stuff much more violent, offensive, angry and uncivil than Palin’s little map. Heck, I saw about as much before the shooting. And 99 times out of 100, those vicious comments have been by people blaming these same folks for supposedly creating a “climate” that motivated the shooter (despite, of course, there being absolute no evidence of any sort of connection). The hypocrisy alone astounds me.
These politicians will take advantage of any crisis or tragedy to support their agenda of tyranny. Make no mistake about it, they’ll use this little girl’s deaths, all these deaths, as justification for silencing criticism, because critics prevent their re-election.
Palin’s map was about as threatening as smurf riding a unicorn. These mean-spirited politicians attack each other on a daily basis, more so during elections, in the most disgusting ways. But somehow people speaking out against what they’re doing to effect our lives is “dangerous.”

As to last night’s “memorial”:
At least our lefty pals didn’t get up and outright accuse Republicans and conservatives of this. Oh, I forgot, they tried that at the famous “Wellstone Memorial” where they accused conservatives of somehow causing Wellstone’s plane to crash. Blood libel? You got that right. (Sorry, Pam, I know that term has special and historical meaning for Jews; but all you have to do is substitute the word “conservative” for “Jews” in this context, and it’s clear Sarah got it right). The left has no shame and if it hadn’t been for the Internet, these slime bags would still be at it. If I were Limbaugh, I’d sue that twit Pima County Sheriff for defamation. Talk about “knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for the truth or falsity” of a statement? Even for public figures like Limbaugh, there’s a limit to the amount of guff they have to take before some idiot’s statement becomes actionable. Also, I’m sure by the time Sheriff Democrat Jerk stepped up to the mike, he was well aware that the shooter had mental problems and that his actions were probably the result of psychosis rather than some political belief. But, then again, lefty Democrats always try this garbage every time there’s a tragedy in this country. People still believe that Oswald was somehow connected to the right, when it’s more than obvious to anybody with a brain that he was a self-described committed “Trotskyist,” who had zero to do with Nixon, Johnson, Bell Helicopter, the CIA, or anyone else. In fact, Oswald never had one friend in his entire life. Not one, according to historians. The idea that he could be part of some Parallax View conspiracy is nuts, and the people who foisted this lie were American leftists. Yet, the media has never once sought to clear up the lie. Just like the media has never sought to clear up the lies about Malcolm X and the FBI, the FBI and James Earl Ray, Tim McVeigh the “Christian,” Wellstone, the Columbine killers, etc. But the seminal event was Oswald. That’s when the lefty media here realized it could make up anything about the assassin’s motives, and get away with it. The Internet has finally caught up with that. So now they want more gun control and “fairness” in the media. Yep. The heck with reaching across the aisle. The left makes me sick, and the only way I’ll ever reconcile with these types is if they admit they’ve made a lot of mistakes, come clean about their lies, and get their filthy hands out of my wallet and out of my life.
Meh. And monkeys might fly out of my butt!

At least the left no longer has a monopoly on the news media like they did during most of my life, given a couple of years they could make a failed politician sound like a saint, and the kids who weren’t alive them never know any better.

Gabrielle Giffords owns a Glock handgun very similar to the one her deranged attacker used to shoot her, and murder the others. It is not an accident that mass shootings occur in “gun-free” zones. The perpetrators are crazy and evil, but not so nutty that they attack armed and ready citizens.

In speaking of the congress critters’ tendency toward self-preservation, let’s not forget some of the Republicans who have been throwing around ideas that are in opposition to their supposed conservativeness. Pete King’s drumming up a gun control bill in reaction to this comes to mind. The folks that are signing on to enclose the congressional galleries, are another set.
This was one looney in AZ. Why all the hand wringing in NY and DC?! Truth is, if there were enough armed citizens at the Safeway, he’d have been taken out in short order. I’m actually quite surprised that this didn’t happen. I suppose the fact that this was a democrat gathering would result in a likelihood of fewer concealed weapons supporters/carriers.

What is going on here today is alarmingly similar, in its trajectory, to the aftermath of the 1933 Reichstag fire in Germany. Those who know their history will remember that in the wake of the fire, Adolf Hitler, who was then a mere Chancellor (having just been sworn in about a month earlier), blamed the fire on Communist insurgents who he claimed were instituting a “putsch” against the government, and prevailed upon President Paul von Hindenburg to grant him “emergency powers” which led to a total suspension of civil liberties, a total crackdown on the Communist Party of Germany whereby all its members were imprisoned and their seats in the German Parliament purged. It was the first step in Hitler and the Nazis ultimately gaining absolute power. And what we are seeing now is almost exactly like 1933 Germany. The Left’s blood libels of the conservative movement in the wake of the Giffords shooting, and their blatant attempts to criminalize conservative speech as part of their master plan to achieve by nefarious, underhanded means what they couldn’t at the ballot box last November, is therefore straight out of that Nazi playbook.
As for Congressman Peter King – this is not the only area where he’s become totally compromised and corrupted by too many years in power. Another is his support of the TSA’s pornographic body scans and pervert agents molesting airline passengers. And gun confiscation, again going back to history, was also how Hitler (and for that matter, other dictators over the last century) have been able to attain absolute power.

Furthermore, one major culprit in this whole sorry episode is Nancy Pelosi. Remember, just prior to the shooting, she ominously warned that any attempt to repeal the Left’s cherished socialized “Obamacare” would lead to blood?
