Destined to fail and what a pity. King lacks the courage of his convictions.

Story continues below advertisementCongressman Peter King (R-NY) told upcoming hearings on radicalization among American Muslims, he was "not planning to call as witnesses such Muslim community critics as the Investigative Project on Terrorism's Steve Emerson and Jihad Watch's Robert Spencer, who have large followings among conservatives but are viewed as antagonists by many Muslims."
Based on this, it appears that this will be a show trial. Between Emerson and Spencer, the whole of it is covered. Emerson knows who all the players are and what groups and cells they are affiliated with. He knows who everyone is and what he's doing. For King to acquiesce in his marginalization is almost criminal. In Spencer's case, it's just as bad. Why wouldn't King discuss the texts and teachings of Islam that jihadists use to justify violence and make recruits?For King not to avail himself of Emerson's knowledge and Spencer's scholarship is an astounding case of willful blindness.Methinks Representative King is a wee bit in over his head. I am filled with dread and sorrow at another lost opportunity. Doesn't King know he is going to be smeared and defamed for these hearings no matter what? So why not achieve something? Why not have the courage of your convictions?The Muslim groups are worried about these hearings with good reason. "On the gonif brent a hittle" — the Yiddish axiom translated means "on the thief, the hat burns." At the last yearly Muslim Public Affairs Council Conference (December 18, 2010), one of the questions moderator Salaam Al Marayati asked his panel concerned the future hearings of Congressman Peter King. One of the panelists, an attorney named Angela Oh, said that any person subpoenaed should hire an attorney and that the attorney should advise the committee that the person under subpoena would not appear. The other panelists agreed.
One of the other panelists, an attorney named Reem Salahi, made a lot of noise about King and the IRA. I have the feeling that they want the media to exploit this. The entire session was recorded and appeared on the MPAC website.And so perhaps it is no surprise that Representative King has already conceded key points. But why? How could he in good conscience squander such an important, historic opportunity?Politico said that "King aims … to call retired law enforcement officials and people with 'the real life experience of coming from the Muslim community.' Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim to serve in the House and a critic of the hearings, will likely be a minority witness, according to both King and the Minnesota Democrat."Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison is infamous for his pro-Hamas rallies and his pilgrimage to the Hajj in Saudi Arabia, paid for by the Muslim Brotherhood. He is testifying, but Emerson and Spencer aren't? What can King achieve?King is going to call Zuhdi Jasser and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Jasser and Hirsi Ali are perfectly lovely, but to what end? Jasser's Islam does not exist. He does not have a theological leg to stand on. His mosque threw him out. Whatever he is practicing, it's not Islam, and he speaks for no one but himself. Also, Jasser has done some strange things: in May 2009, he made a last-minute effort to quash Geert Wilders' appearance on Capitol Hill under the aegis of Senator Kyl, calling Kyl's office the morning of the day Wilders was supposed to appear and stating that while Jasser had been in the Netherlands, Wilders refused to meet with Jasser because Wilders "doesn't meet with Muslims." That never happened, according to Wilders.

This is the response that I received from King’s office (via his LA):
I was surprised and disappointed to hear that Steve Emerson feels slighted and somehow believes that my committee hearing on Muslim radicalization will not be effective without him testifying and that, among other things, I am guilty of “calculated deception” and that I consider Rep. “Ellison a better friend than” Steve Emerson.
The fact is that Steve Emerson has been extremely helpful to me over the years providing information and support. I was anticipating this same level of cooperation and support in preparation for the upcoming radicalization hearing which is why my staff was in repeated contact with him and I was scheduled to meet with him this afternoon.
At no time was it contemplated or suggested to Steve Emerson that he be a witness. I determined early on that to make the most meaningful impact, the lead witnesses would be Muslims who believe their community is being radicalized and that Muslim leaders are not sufficiently cooperating with law enforcement. Law enforcement officials would be also be asked to testify. I assumed that Steve Emerson would support these hearings and provide my staff and me with information and ideas.
It is unfortunate that Steve Emerson who acknowledges that I have been “the most courageous Member of the House of Representatives in taking on the radical Islamists groups” now says I “have caved in to the demands of radical Islamists” solely because he is not going to be a witness—especially since at no time was it ever suggested he would be. Ironically, it now appears that the two most outspoken critics of the radicalization hearing are Steve Emerson and CAIR.
I have fought this issue for more than nine years against strong opposition. I will go forward with this first hearing and subsequent hearings on this vital issue of radicalization, and, as always, will accept the assistance of all Americans who want to help in this cause. Protecting our nation from Islamic terrorism is larger than any one person.
IS THIS A PISSING CONTEST between Emerson and King or what? So King caved and now Emerson says he’s keeping his research to himself?
A message to both King and Emerson:
SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE THE GROWN-UP AND IT’S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH WHEN YOU DON’T CARE WHO GETS THE CREDIT.

Everyone should call King to reconsider and allow both Spencer and Emerson to be at these hearings.
It’s irrelevant if King never intended to invite Emerson, he should be there anyways…why would we take away our most valuable pieces on the chess board without good reason?

It appears to be a show with no substance in the making that will result in a waste of opportunity, time and effort. If it turns out to be that way it will not only be a disservice to the American people but a betrayal.
This has all the appearance of political correctness that demands ignoring the truth and sacrificing the safety of the majority of the American people for fear of offending those who would not only do us harm but intend to destroy our entire civilization. And that is not good representation.
I have always had respect for Representative King and this is his time to prove he is what he has led us to believe and I hope he delivers.
America can no longer afford politicians who lack courage, pretend and deceive.

What can we all do to put pressure on King to get those people such as Spencer, and Emerson on the docket to speak? King is wrong in assuming that you just go to other Muslims to share their opinions about Islam and that will expose the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, ISNA, and all those organizations that are working to subvert the government. We have a real problem here and we need to do everything we can to fix it. A demonstration, a call in? Contact ACT and other groups to unite? We need to act and Spencer & Pamela I hope will guide us.

you think of how this should be done or he should stop

In reading through all this I have to stop and think, would a good chess player make his moves known in advance and at the moment or be thinking a few steps ahead to outwit their opponent?
On the face of it, his idea is very valid and one I would have likely taken if I were in his shoes.
Step back and think about it. We all know what Muslims and their organizations desire. We are already onto them. But we are a relatively small number of people with that realization. To push Robert Spencer and Steven Emerson out there as witnesses up front and center would be similiar to telling people you’ve been abducted by aliens. They would have a hard time believing it.
Now if the testimony came from Muslims or former Muslims themselves, people will be more likely to believe those people over someone like Robert Spencer. Credentials or not, most people tend to believe someone with experience on a particular matter over someone who was “schooled” on that same matter. It is simply human nature.
If the hearings managed to get some Muslim leaders from CAIR or other Muslim brotherhood orgnizations on record as disputing the likes of Hirsi Ali, the voting public will know where they stand. Then it will be a simple matter to bring out the heavy guns who will explain further what the dangers of Islam are exactly and why they threaten our constitutional freedoms.

If Spencer and Emerson are considered too incendiary then Andrew McCarthy would make an excellent witness in their place. Someone in King’s district ought to make a call with that suggestion.

How long before McCarthy is radioactive or Hirsi Ali or anyone willing to stand up against Islamic supremacism.

If I’m not mistaken, Spencer and Emerson are already marginalized by the lamestream media. How will their appearances before this show trial change things? I don’t like the idea anymore than you do but Islamicists have already rooted themselves in the leftists organizations and publications (ie the mainstream media). I have seen them doing their best to marginalize you as well on Fox News when I watched your appearances. From what you both have stated, Islamcists are also rooting themselves in the US Congress. We all know what their goals are.
The Muslim brotherhood and all its little organizations have had 20-30 years of planning and execution to make their dreams become reality. They are pretty well rooted in America at this point whether you want to admit it or not. Exposing their plans to the light of day and what Islam is all about is enlightening people about the dangers of Islam. We’ve seen that time and again when debates about Islam are presented, the information does get out and changes people’s minds.
The fact that the hearing will happen is a pretty good sign. Finding some way to ambush the likes of CAIR, ISNA, MSA and all those other organizations in front of the American voting public would be even more awesome. Is cutting Robert Spencer and Steven Emerson out of the hearings smart? I don’t know. All I can do is voice my opinion to his office and hope he is using good judgment and has something nice up his sleeve for our side.
Ambushing him like this only serves the Islamists from where I sit.
PS. Let me tell you a story about Hirsi Ali. A while back you and Robert reported about her appearance in Seattle where the women with Hijabs came out to protest her. Do you remember that? I do. I went to the person’s website that spoke out against Hirsi Ali and debated with the woman who wrote that awful essay. I pointed out various things in the opinion piece that she wrote and basically tore her a new a-hole. The whole debate and the article ended up being removed. I guess she ended up looking so bad they trashed it rather than lose face.
Here’s a partial copy of the article she wrote. The only place I could find it anywhere online was Sheikyermami’s blog. Also I want to thank you for educating me about Islam. I have won a few battles here and there and this was one of them. I was one of the commentors who spoke out against this garbage.

It was at the Seattle Town Hall last night that the Dutch Somali self-proclaimed feminist Ayaan Hirsi Ali was causing a stir. Greeted by a group of Muslim women protesters, some in Burqas, and others in traditional hijab (head dress), proceeded to hold her lecture filled with the usual anti-Islamic, hatred fueled message to all who would listen. It was a peaceful and silent protest, however, the message was heard loud and clear. Muslim women are sick of people assuming that they cover up out of oppression, tired of constantly being portrayed as the meek, weak, and abused. And absolutely fed up with all the hateful statements claiming that Islam is a religion that promotes violence against women, erroneously quoting passages out of the Quran taken completely out of context. Or citing barbaric practices associated with certain political regimes, and claiming them to be “Islamic”. The fact of the matter is that just by the mere presence of these women, making their voices heard disproves the whole argument against the religion of Islam.
Hirsi Ali who spent her perturbed childhood in the impoverished countries of Somalia and Kenya, had to endure at the age of five one of the most vicious crimes committed against women. The act of female circumcision which is not an Islamic practice, but a mere customary practice in some African countries amongst the poor, uneducated, and ill-informed parts of society. In fact, Egypt has recently launched a full fledged barrage of public service announcements denouncing female circumcision as an Islamic practice stating that even the prophet Mohammad (PBUH) never circumcised any of his daughters. And that any doctor practicing it will be punishable by law (…)

That King would pull his punches in this matter could have been predicted on two fronts:
1) His support of the perverts in the TSA violating airline passengers and the intrusive, pornographic body scanning; and
2) His aligning with the fascist gun-grabbers in the wake of the Tucson shooting, which the Left has exploited to the Nth degree as certainly as Adolf Hitler exploited the 1933 Reichstag fire, and for the same end – to destroy the opposition and position themselves for a massive power grab.
