More wikileaks bombshells. More US groveling to an ideology hellbent on destroying us, Europe ….. the West. The delusion is breathtaking.
It's incredible how indefatigably the U.S. has pursued accommodation with Islam and encouraged others to do so. Just imagine the U.S. Government in 1943 encouraging anyone on the world stage to open up towards Germany. But of course the analogy founders on the fact that we don't consider ourselves to be at war with Islam; if only we could convince the Islamic jihadists that they are not at war with us. I don't think the Pope saying nice things about Islam under U.S. pressure would accomplish that.

The confidential US diplomatic cables obtained by the whistleblower website were quoted by the Spanish daily El Pais.
German-born Benedict XVI would face a 'steep learning curve' on international issues, US diplomats wrote after the then cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was elected pope in 2005.
Some of the cables focus on a 2006 academic lecture given by the pope, who quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor saying that the Muslim prophet Mohammed had brought 'only evil and inhuman things.' The quote sparked furious criticism in the Muslim world.
'It taxes the imagination' to suppose that such a reference by the pope 'would pass unnoticed,' a US diplomat wrote.
According to his assessment, the pope made the reference on purpose, but without foreseeing the consequences, which were followed by apologies by the Vatican.
The pope's 'approach toward Islam and toward inter-religious dialogue is cooler than that of his predecessor' John Paul II, the diplomat observed….
'The Holy See does not believe theological agreements with Islam are possible, but is convinced that better mutual knowledge will allay suspicions and facilitate peaceful co-existence,' US diplomats wrote in 2009.

It is the U.S. admin that is dead wrong. To “open up to Islam” is to let mass murder in the door.

The US encouraged that? Who exactly, it wasn’t me. THe State Dept? Saying that the US encouraged the pope to be open to islam is a pretty broad brush and really creepy.

The better analogy for Obama’s policy toward Islam would have been Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement of Hitler.

Anything that happened AFTER the election of Obama is credible with regards to US governmental policy towards Islam. The date 2009 popped up which leads me to suspect that this item is connected to the Obama administration’s policies. I am therefore not questioning what the pope may be telling us about present US policy towards Islam (it’s a tragedy for the entire world).
Although the united States is a constitutional republic that is supposed to have a representational government, hihg-level corruption has neutralized the representational aspect of the federal government and thus at this time the United States does NOT have the representational government acting in accord with its citizenry and constitution that it should. NO ONE should make the mistake of thinking that the Obama Administration in any way, shape or form represents the people of the United states. It absolutely does NOT. Americans are now being treated to the harrowing spectacle of being legislated AGAINST. Some might even call this sort of governance “RAPE.”
As for Obama, his soul is in grave danger if he actually thinks he is a Christian as he has been claiming. Promoting Islam (a so-called “religion” but is more aptly a political ideology that does NOT recognize the Judeo-Christian deity Yahweh) is in violation of the 10 Commandments and is therefore a mortal sin. Additionally, WIKILEAKS cites him as an aider and abetter of worldwide violent jihadist actions against Christianity–which most of us knew anyway.

I am not even Catholic or any kind of Christian, but I’m still offended by the way these diplomats talk about the Pope. They think their going to teach him how to handle Islam???
What a bunch of pricks. They don’t teach the Pope anything.

What does that even mean? If a religion can change its theology for politicals reasons, it’s not really a religion.
How would a theological agreement work? Catholicism will forget about the Triliogy, or devine conception, or whatever, if Islam does what?

it just reminds me how correct Pamela is when she stated that Obama, as president, has done nothing a Muslim wouldn’t do. So whether or not he’s Muslim (and he must be, based upon his records that he reluctantly produced in small part), is irrelevant. But now our diplomat milksops have not the moral testicaltude to take the high road to protect the people who have protected them (let’s face it, how many diplomats were there in the trenches–maybe three or four?). On one hand I condemn Assange for making public certain documents and the New York Times for printing them–they are just as culpable–but the truth, the dirty truth of who we are as a nation, has come out in the open air, and let me say, that it really needs an airing out because it smells.
