Pamela you hit a bunch of nails on the head. I’ll bet your right, that women in Islam would never speak against Islam on TV. Their lives would be in danger. That garb the women wear is far from being free. It is OPPRESSION. It’s almost as if they have to be ashamed of their beauty. It must get pretty HOT under those dreadful tents. The exemplary Muslim woman from Albuquerque stated that the events of 9/11 prompted her to re-examine and commit to her faith. It would have been instructive for sane people to hear how a Jihadist attack inspired by a murderous ideology could attract anyone. Any chance of a Christiane or Diane ever asking one of these women – the free spirits who choose the beswaddled look – their opinions regarding women whose fashion statements ARE made under duress?
What definitely IS Islamic is that a woman is under the control of male relatives, and that males are obliged to follow the Koran’s “spare the rod, spoil the woman” guidance on relations between the sexes.
That is perhaps why we don’t see too many Islamic support groups for women forced to wear niqabs by “cultural pressures”.

I think that September 11, 2001 has empowered the muslims in this country, and now more than ever they are choosing to wear burkas and headscarfs to make an “in your face” statement. “We’re here like it or not.” This bullshit about modesty is just that BULLSHIT. I find it to be a subtle form of militancy. Some of these young girls with the head scarfs wear more eye makeup than a model for a Revlon commercial. If one were TRULY concerned about modesty as say the Amish are, they wouldn’t even put lipstick on.

These jackasses in the lamestream media and the lies about Islam that they pass off as news reporting and journalism aren’t making our job any easier, to say the least. I’m not so much discouraged by this anymore because I can finally see that our efforts to educate Americans haven’t been in vain (thanks to the turn-out at the 9/11 rally and the new names I see here every day) but I’m still aggravated by it.
Paul DeLaup posted that we should write Sawyer. Maybe this is what I’ll say to her, that she and others aren’t going to stop us from teaching nor stop others from learning, that they’re only aggravating us to the point that we’re tuning them out, which isn’t good for ratings. Be honest or be unemployed.
