Turkey: Prime Minister Objects to ’Moderate Islam’ Label Days before Obama’s Visit

1

In what sounds like the ancient ramblings of a long dead Ottomon sultan, Prime Minister Erdoğan of Turkey, now considered the most "successful" marriage of Islam and democracy in the West, revealed what those of us familiar with Islam, the Quran and its tenets have long known – there is no "moderate Islam".
It would be suicide for Europe to allow Turkey membership into the European Union. Suicide – perhaps Europe is already dead (have you seen Strasbourg today?).

ANKARA – Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
rejected attempts to call Turkey the representative of moderate Islam. "It is
unacceptable for us to agree with such a definition. Turkey has never been a
country to represent such a concept. Moreover, Islam cannot be classified as
moderate or not,"
Erdoğan said, speaking at Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
late Thursday.

Erdoğan’s statements came only days before the visit
of U.S President Barack
Obama
whose administration signaled a dramatic shift from George W. Bush in
identifying Turkey as a moderate Islamic country
.
U.S Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton had praised Turkey as "a democratic country with a secular constitution"
during her visit to Ankara in
March. In his speech, "Alliance of Civilizations and Turkey’s role," Erdoğan
pointed to the lack of dialogue between different religions and cultures, which
has led to distressing incidents in the world history.

Erdoğan's (in advance of President B. Hussein's visit to Turkey) specific mention of the "Alliance of Civilizations" is deeply troubling.

Counter Jihad conference in Brussels in 2007: The Alliance of Civilizations, created
to oppose the clash of civilizations, that is jihad, hasalso added
pressure. On 13 November 2006, the High-Level Group of the Alliance
ofCivilizations presented its report which sums up the request of the
OIC at its Mecca Summit in 2005, after the Cartoons affair. First, it
adopts the Islamic view of history and politics byclaiming that
everything was fine between the three monotheistic religions until the
19thcentury, when the evil of European colonialism and Zionism
destroyed this harmony. Then itaffirms that the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict is the main source of Christian-Muslimantagonism, not the
jihadist war and ideology that deny for others the right to exist. It
proclaims that this conflict “remains one of the gravest threats to
international stability” and formulates recommendations that again echo
the OIC requests. Such views mirror Hitler accusing the Jews of
fomenting World War II, or the Protocols of the Elders of Zion,
praisedin the Hamas charter, the Palestinian branch of the Muslim
Brotherhood which denies Israel’s
right to exist.

The recent meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (and here)
(OSCE Conference on intolerance and discrimination against Muslims, Cordoba, 9-10
October 2007) is much of the same, a charter of dhimmitude. It examines the means to
condition Europeans to respect Muslim immigrants and accept their culture. Although racism
against Muslims as well as against any other should be punished, nowhere do we see in any of
these texts a genuine desire to understand the fears of Europeans aggressed in their own
country by local jihadist cells, their anger at the Muslim scriptures and history loaded with
anti-Jewish and anti-Christian stereotypes which they bring into Europe, the continual
incitement to hate and war against the infidels, particularly against Israel and America, the
inferiority of women and the legal oppression of non-Muslims. The accusations of
Islamophobia totally overlook these facts as if they emerge from a vacuum. The Eurabian
moral dishonesty that incriminates Israel’s self-defense in order to exist is now projected onto
Europe, guilty when protecting itself against Islamic terrorism. Our self-defense is considered
an aggression that victimizes Muslims. We are in fact in a logic of dhimmitude within Europe.

"The animosity,
unfortunately, strengthens the scenarios that there is a so-called clash of
civilizations in the world. Those, who defend such speculations, may go further
to identify the terrorism with Islam which is based on peace,"
he maintained,
adding that the situation helps those who try to globalize
Islamophobia.

This is the Orwellian speak dictated by the Organization of Islamic Conference.

Erdoğan also wanted Western societies to be more open to
cooperation and dialogue with the East. "It should be known that adopting a
malicious and offending approach toward the sensitive issues of Islamic world by
hiding behind some democratic freedoms like freedom of speech and right of free
publication is unacceptable,"
he said.

The sensitive issues of the Islamic world? Like what? Beheadings? Clitorectomies? Misogyny? Honor Killings? 13,000 Islamic attacks across the world since 911. What kind of nonsense is this, and why is he talking supremacist moments before President Hussein's arrival? This is a set up.

Drawing attention to the
importance of mutual understanding and respect, Erdoğan stated that he believes
and respects Moses and Jesus, and accepts them as prophets. "I expect the same
attitude from a Jew or a Christian toward my own prophet," Erdoğan noted. He
underlined the importance of Turkey’s European Union membership in terms of
establishing connections between the West and the East.

Threatening yet again.

"As a country
whose population is mostly composed of Muslims, Turkey endeavors to get its
place in the EU. Turkey’s effort is closely watched not only by European people
but also by the citizens of Islam countries," he said. "The thesis that the West
and the East, Islam and other religions cannot reconcile, has become invalid in
Turkey’s membership process."

Islamic thuggery and threats.

Erdoğan defended his verbal confrontation
with the Israeli president at the World Economic Forum in Davos and added that
he spoke up against the killing of innocent civilians and fulfilled his "duty as
a human being."

What does Erdogan know of humanity?
