There is a lot to do before the next Alliance of
Civilizations forum, slated to take place in Brazil, Karlığa said. Among them is
establishing a secretariat to implement Turkey's national action plan, which
involves a number of initiatives, including scholarships that will be made
available to students and academics seeking to conduct research in the fields of
inter-cultural dialogue, conflict prevention and conflict resolution.

Another project relates to creating monographs which
will be commissioned by the Alliance of Civilizations and on cross-fertilization
between the Islamic and Western civilizations. An anthology of articles in
Turkish and other languages will be published.

The alliance attaches special importance to media and
media training. Among various projects in that regard, a media literacy pilot
project has been launched at primary and secondary schools in Turkey with the
purpose of developing the capacity of the younger generation for analysis,
evaluation and communication, in response to the messages conveyed by the
media.

Yes, yes of course. The Islamic alliance attaches a very special importance to propaganda and the spread of taqiyya – deception to advance Islam. Like the "stated" objectives of the Alliance of Civilizations.

Karlığa added that the Turkish Ministry of Education
has worked with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO), the European Union and the Organization of the
Islamic Conference (OIC) to eliminate phrases and subjects that could foster
hatred toward others from school textbooks.

When it comes to academic research, Karlığa said there
in only one center in that regard: Bahçeşehir University's Civilization Studies
Center (MEDAM). Karlığa, the center's director, said it was born out of need.
"The most important step to be taken against the bigoted and primitive
approaches which make our world a hell on earth with the threat of blood and
gunpowder is to spread science, thought, art, peace, love, tolerance and a
culture of living together — all of which are the greatest signs of
civilization."

Who exactly spreads blood and gunpowder, and who spreads science, art and thought? Orwell, I tell ya.
