Terror Training Camps/Recruitment In US Prisons

The recruiting for Islamic jihad has been going on in the prisons for years and is well documented.

The Saudís also have a special program aimed at converting blacks in prison. In a well-documented June 2002 article in the Washington Times, Cal Thomas noted that the program is funded by Saudi Arabian money through the National Islamic Prison Foundation, which underwrites a “prison outreach” program designed to convert large numbers of African-American inmates not only to Wahhabism, but to its political objectives — including virulent anti-Americanism.

The Wall Street Journal (February 5, 2003) also confirmed that Wahhabism is making serious inroads into the black population of American prisons. It quoted a New York-based Wahhabi imam, Warith Deen Umar (who until his retirement in 2000 helped run New York’s growing Islamic prison program by recruiting and training dozens of chaplains and ministering to thousands of inmates himself), as saying:

The 9/11 hijackers should be honored as martyrs. The U.S. risks further terrorism attacks because it oppresses Muslims around the world. Without justice, there will be warfare, and it can come to this country too.”  More here

Here’s a website devoted to this very thing here.

Richard Reid (a.k.a. Abdel Raheem and Trig Rajah), became a radical Islamist while incarcerated in a UK prison. He attempted to ignite explosives in his shoes and thereby blow up an American Airlines plane in mid-flight during Christmastime in 2001
Jose Padilla, a former Chicago IL street gang member also became a radical Islamist while in prison. He was arrested in 2002 on suspicion of planning to explode a “dirty bomb.”

The Free Republic here;

In the French prisons there is a whole network of extremist Muslims, who use their time in prison to find new recruits. That was in a report by the French secret service (RG). The ones who convert to Islam are dangerously fanatic, so says the report.

The French newspaper Le Figaro has reported on the disaster. It is the first official investigation of the spread of Islam in prisons. According to the secret service, there are around 175 radical inmates who preach their hatred and murder inside the prisons.

Cal Thomas wrote this here:

The mail brings a letter from a self-identified African-American prison inmate (several of the same type have arrived since Sept. 11). He predicts Islam will take over the world and America’s days are numbered. This man is one of many converts to radical Islam under a program indirectly funded by Saudi Arabian money through the National Islamic Prison Foundation, which underwrites a “prison outreach” program.

And Jihadwatch wrote this back in January 2004:

“Al Qaida continues to recruit members in U.S. prisons despite a government crackdown, FBI officials told a congressional panel.” This from the World Tribune.

“U.S. officials said Al Qaida’s recruitment has been facilitated by Muslim clergy with access to federal and state prisons. They said the organization has succeeded in winning new members despite tighter rules instituted by authorities since the Al Qaida suicide attacks in September 2001

So why the shock at the latest remarks made by the head of Islamic chaplains in the New York City Department of Corrections as reported by The New York Post here yesterday?

Mr. Abdul-Jalil declared in a speech that the White House is run by terroristsImam_ny_1 and that Muslims were tortured in Manhattan prisons after the World Trade Center attacks.

He also reportedly urged Muslims in America to stop letting “the Zionists of the media to dictate what Islam is to us.” The Investigative Project on Terrorism obtained a recording of his speech, a senior researcher with the organization, Tamar Tesler, confirmed yesterday.

The imam, who has been with the department since 1993 and has been overseeing all clergy members at the agency since 2004. More here

This is well known, well documented. The director of Simon Wiesenthal’s New York Tolerance Center, Mark Weitzman, said:

“It would not be novel,” he said. “There have been a lot of reports of chaplains using prisons for recruitment. The chaplaincy is there to provide support for people of every religion, but not to provide a breeding ground for religious intolerance and hate.”

So what is it going to take? This is not new. This is OLD. Another day of hand wringing and outrage and then what? Why isn’t this commanding the attention of either party the way the Dubai deal is? Which poses more of a real threat?

We must demand of our elected officials that they drop “the party before country” platforms and start acting responsibly and fighting the real war. The war on Radical Extremism.

The Republicans are blowing an historic opportunity, fracturing among party ranks is a gift that won’t stop giving to the left. And it’s a mistake. They were given a mandate by us, they were given a mandate, and they are squandering it. Stop looking over your shoulder and lead, gawdammit!

Stop reacting and start acting. This is as good a place to start as any. Clean out the damn prisons. Fire the inciters, recruiters, jihadis. Now, today. JUST DO IT. And let the ACLU/CAIR sue. They sue anyway, so what? Better they sue for this, than they sue (and win!) for the rights of man boy love, right? Let’s keep those seditionists busy.

More over at Solomonia here:

“Imams like Mr. Shata – men who embrace American freedom and condemn the radicals they feel have tainted their faith – rarely make the news.” Yet the Times also reported: “When Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the founder and spiritual leader of Hamas, was killed by Israelis in March 2004, Mr. Shata told hundreds who gathered at a memorial service in Brooklyn that the ‘lion of Palestine has been martyred.'” Further, the Times notes, “in another sermon, the imam exalted a young Palestinian mother, Reem Al-Reyashi, who blew herself up in 2004 at a crossing point between Gaza and Israel, killing four Israelis. Mr. Shata described the woman as a martyr.” An aide to Mr. Shata told us that the Imam was unavailable for comment by our deadline.

In the third and last installment of the Times series, we searched yet again – but in vain – for a mention of Rashid Baz and the fact that on March 1, in 1994, Baz opened fire on a white van carrying rabbinical students, including Halberstam, onto the Brooklyn Bridge and that on March 5 Halberstam died from the shots. It was an act of terrorism that shocked the city as few events have. Baz was convicted of Halberstam’s murder in December 1994, and the circumstances deserve to be remembered
