“Anti-jihad posters provide this year’s UN controversy”

16

How often have I said that the individual can change the course of human events? Always remember that. That is you and me. And we will, and we are.

"Anti-jihad posters provide this year's UN controversy" Haaretz
There are always dramas on the margins of the annual United Nations
General Assembly. While battles over Libyan ruler Muammar Gadhafi's
travel tent are now history, there are still the annual protests of
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit. This week, the Iranian
Foreign Ministry spokesperson was harassed in the street by Iranian
refugees.

But the biggest drama so far this year surrounds a
controversial advertising campaign in New York Metro stations. The
campaign features posters, purchased by anti-Islam blogger Pamela
Geller's American Freedom Defense Initiative, which say "In any war
between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man,"
and lower down, "Support Israel; Defeat jihad."

Story continues below advertisement

The media has
been all over the story, with pundits lining up to condemn the
advertisement. Most of the posters have now been defaced by activists,
who plastered them with stickers saying, "Racism" and "Hate speech."

Egyptian-American journalist and blogger Mona Eltahawy was arrested by
New York Police Department officers after being confronted by activist
Pamela Hall while spray painting a poster. Hall questioned the legality
of Eltahawy's actions and tried to protect the poster with her body.

"Activists": the left's eupehmism for thugs and vandals.

The Jewish Council for Public Affairs called the advertisement
"bigoted, divisive, and unhelpful." In a statement, JCPA President Rabbi
Steve Gutow said, "Effective discourse is never served by one statement
of incivility being answered by another. The remedy for bad speech is
good speech, not more bad speech."

Rabbi Rick Jacobs, president of
the Union for Reform Judaism, slammed the campaign in a New York Times
op-ed, saying the posters "not only offend Muslims and those of us who
value religious diversity and liberty for all; they pollute America’s
own public square at a time when our society is desperate for civility
and respectful discourse."

Ron Meier, New York Regional
Director of the Anti-Defamation League,
said, “We believe the ads are
highly offensive and inflammatory. Pro-Israel doesn’t mean anti-Muslim.
It is possible to support Israel without engaging in bigoted anti-Muslim
and anti-Arab stereotypes. The basic premise of the ad is illegitimate
and continuing to run it is irresponsible.”

A great many leading Jewish pundits and leaders have supported my ad, i.e. Caroline Glick, Israel Kasnett, Lori Lowenthal Marcus, Yisrael Medad, et al. Thinkers far more influential than these craven cowards.

The New York
Metropolitan Transit Authority, which initially rejected the ads, was
forced to allow them to run after Geller's group won a lawsuit in
federal court in July.

This week, Geller said that Jewish
officials who denounced her campaign "either don't understand the
reality and magnitude of jihad, or hope that by dissembling about the
problem they will be able to mitigate it, or both."

"My ad
doesn't "target" anyone," said Geller. "It calls for support of Israel
against the jihadis who have vowed to destroy her. Reactions have been
overwhelmingly positive, except for the media feeding frenzy."

Geller rejected the argument that people have a right to deface the posters.
"Vandalism and thuggery are not freedom of expression. If she
[Eltahawy] had bought her own ad, that would be freedom of expression.
Destroying mine is just a fascist attempt to deny my freedom of speech,"
she said. "We plan to roll out these ads everywhere we can."

Gee, it takes the radical leftist Haaretz to label you as an anti-Islam blogger, of which there has never been any evidence. Being pro freedom and anti-Jihad is NOT anti-Islam or even anti-Muslim. By applying the same logic to the Left, one can only conclude that they are anti-freedom and pro-Jihad. Disgusting is all I can say.

….I am left wondering, in all of this hullabaloo, why any peaceful Muslim would take offense at that language–if they are truly peaceful, if they do not accept jihadism and terror, if they feel those things have hijacked their religion…why would they identify themselves with the word?
You do good work, Pamela. And you are right. Kudos for having the courage to fight the public fight for us.

Before any dialogue on free speech, I believe what should be demanded, first, that ALL evil verses be purged from the Qur’an. Oh, but the unholy Qur’an can never be changed they say, well, neither can America’s Bill of Rights.

In taking on the lethargy of some of the NY Jewish establishment, a lone woman has remembered what happened in her city and faced up to the repeated consequences of it.
The stand this woman has taken reminds me of another woman long ago, Good Queen Bess { Elizabeth 1 } of England who in 1588 when threatened by an invasion, addressed her troops on the banks of the Thames at Tilbury with these words “I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but i have the heart and stomach of a king, and a King of England too”.
If today and maybe tomorrow, some “men” start examining the contents of their underwear, i will NOT be supprised- they should, then they should go and have a chat with this woman of renown and learn how to confront and overcome that which will overcome THEM if they don’t get their skates on PDQ.
JP {above} is right, nothing CAN change until the book of hate is reformed, top to bottom, front to back. Stuff the tantrums from the cry babies.

I met a girl who said that reformed Judaism is essentailly the same as the Catholic church, which she was also familiar with. I believe it. They just go along to get along, the fatal error that Jews have made throughout history. They are all medling into a one world religious order that is beocming known as Chrislam. Chrislam is Islam with the fairy tale that it honors everyone.
There is only one religion on this earth that you can’t offend and that is Islam. Anybody else just takes it but Muslims order death over it. They are maniacs. It is a shame that the anti defamation league is acting so ignorant on this topic. They should read this webpage home page through one day and get a picture of the situation. They are making broad generalizations that make no sense.
I thought never again was the motto of the Jews. Here we have them welcoming a holocaust again through the veil of Islam. Why don’t they wake up and think instead of partying at fundraisers and hobnobbing with sheikhs? What is their excuse for their ignorance?

Yep it seems like we will be subject to daily BS about the ‘poor Muslims’, here in America, and how how supportive they all are of America but must struggle against ‘hate’ etc. I wonder in NYC’s Muslim day parade during their display of peaceful prayers, if one word was uttered about the 4 murdered Americans in our embassy in Libya?

Let’s call a spade a spade. Eltahawy was engaging in a “Heckler’s veto”. Protest is a good expression of free speech until it goes so far as to impede the free speech of others. That’s what Eltahawny was doing, engaging in a Heckler’s Veto.. But her friends in Egypt and Libya and elsewhere in the Middle East were engaging in another form of protest — the threat of violence and actual violence. That is what Morsi is engaged in just now. He is telling Obama to outlaw criticism of Islam or Mohammed, just as Egyptians do in Egypt under Sharia law, even though it is contrary to the Constitution giving US citizens the right of free speech. He says that if the US wants relations with Egypt, it has to surrender its right to any criticism of Islam or Mohammed. That is taking away our rights under the First Amendment. If the Mafia in this country uses the threat of violence or actual violence to attempt to take your property, or to actually take it away, we call it extortion. That is what Morsi, on behalf of the Muslim Brothood, is engaged in right now. Extortion. And if we accept the imposition of this part of Sharia law, where does it stop? Will he next want us to kill homosexuals, stone adulterers, cut off the hands and feet of thieves, kill apostates?

Shame on you, you disgusting, hateful woman. I take solace in knowing that the majority of American Jewry is as appalled by your delusional, racist rambling as I am, & that literally zero leaders within the organized Jewish community feel your crackpot views are representative of our people’s.
