AFDI VICTORY! Clear Channel Cancels Anti-Israel Billboards

24

Atlas readers, writers, and callers — you are the bomb.

As you know, I have been excoriating Clear Channel for their cowardly cave-in to Jew-haters, for running their hateful ad while refusing our pro-Israel ads. I wrote on it extensively  in our press release here and also here.

Geller, however, pointed out in a statement that the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign's ads clearly constitute an incitement to violence against Jews. How is cutting military aid to Israel not an incitement to violence against them? With no aid and no military, Israel cannot defend itself, and is vulnerable to attack by its Muslim neighbors. It is also an incitement in the sense that the ad is a direct attempt to break a bond of friendship between the Israel and the United States, and that also renders Israel to attack."

Story continues below advertisement

Well, today, Clear Channel cancelled the Jew-hating campaign and will be taking the billboards down. And while I would have preferred to see our magnificent ads up, this is an excellent second best.

Thank you, freedom lovers. I stand in awe.

Seattle billboards on Israel canceled after controversy Seattle PI

Months after trying to place controversial ads about Israel on Metro buses, the Seattle group behind the ads said its latest effort to put a similar message on billboards has also been rejected.

The group, the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign (SeaMAC), said billboard company Clear Channel Outdoor had placed three of the group's signs last week and this week.

The signs say, "Equal rights for Palestinians – Stop funding the Israeli military."

But on Wednesday, Clear Channel announced it was canceling the contract, saying it re-evaluated its decision after people complained, according to SeaMAC.

"We don't under what is objectionable about equal rights…" SeaMAC volunteer Ed Mast said Thursday, standing near billboard on Elliott Avenue West that once had his message. It now said, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

"This leaves us censored now twice in Seattle."

Olivia Lippens, president of Clear Channel Outdoor Seattle, said the company is committed to ensuring that "all messages we post, and any websites they promote, adhere to community standards and are not offensive towards any business."

"Upon further review, it became evident that a campaign sponsored by Stop 30 Billion.org promoted a website that is not in keeping with those standards," Lippens said in a statement.

"As a result of that review, we removed this advertising from our displays."

Well done, Clear Channel, you’ve done the right thing. Clear Channel could have become a vehicle of a hate-filled, factually-fictitious vilification campaign, but it resisted the pressure to follow that dark current.

I am curious to know, how many citizens of Seattle, and how many Jews who live there, objected.
It is important to know what is going on in that Community after all that has been done against the Jewish Community, there. In addition, from where, exactly, and by whom, in Seattle is this animosity being taught and activated? Where is the FBI in all of this?

Where is Homeland Security? Regardless of how they feel about Jews, both must take a stand ,
and investigate this vicious- and lethal- anti-Semitism.Where are the Jewish leaders of Seattle?

I am very happy that Clear Channel has seen the light! I sent an email, as well as so many other readers. It’s good to know they listened.
I think Ed Mast, mentioned in the article, needs some instruction in “equal rights.” It means his group gets their say, and the pro-Israel groups get their say — or, in this case, neither side. In Israel and “Palestine,” it means Israel gets to keep their country and gets to defend herself when the Palestinian terrorists and militants fire rockets and otherwise attack. It means the Palestinians “live and let live,” stop trying to destroy their neighbors and learn to co-operate and work together peacefully.

Thumbs up for Clear Channel for paying attention and being proactive! I thought I was going to have to alert all my friends statewide to boycott Clear Channel (who happens to be quite big in Phoenix).

Homeland Security are busy frisking nuns and 6 year old American citizens with their mohammadan infiltraitors (sic). Totally write them off. They do not uphold our Constitution or otherwise protect America.

“Offensive towards any business”??? Well, sure, THEIR business. Objectively though, a BUSINESS is just a tool PEOPLE use, with major differences between their RIGHTS. I’d better have a real good explanation if I kill a person, with EVIDENCE to back up my claim. But if I kill a business, send it into bankruptcy, well, that’s just business. Those clowns at Clear Channel, and their mohammadan masters, just got a glimpse of the REAL power of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

I’ll go with “shirk”. The double entendre is too good to overlook.
“In Islam, shirk is the sin of idolatry or polytheism, the deification or worship of anyone or anything other than the singular God (Allah). Shirk is an unforgivable crime in Islam”

“Well, today, Clear Channel cancelled the Jew-hating campaign and will be taking the billboards down. And while I would have preferred to see our magnificent ads up, this is an excellent second best.”-Pamela
It is second best. It’s a loss of the best because ideas and opinions (free political speech) has been suppressed by Queer Channel.
The Jew-hating ad was an attempt to manipulate emotion.
The ultimate victor of the Palestinian ad would have been people such as Ahmadinejad. I would have run an ad with Ahmadinejad’s picture (below) and the words “Make me happy. Stop funding the Israeli military.” Their ad appealed to emotion, mine would appeal to reason.

Good job Pam. Clear Channel should have thought this through in the first place and never have accepted the ads. But thanks to you, and your Atlas readers, the folks there have realized this was something they really don’t need to be associated with.
Your the best.

Of course that Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign is prejudiced and it was stupid of Chear Channel to not understand that right away . If Israel was bombing civilians every day maybe it would be just a humanitarian move to accept that complaint, but that’s not the case.
I’m wondering how far this Mideast Campaign reaches ..I may find out. It’s amazing how many Muslim organizations there are, and many of them are suported by Saudi Arabia which is promoting it’s Wahhabi bulls–t anyway it can.
Pam–you are a winner, and inspiring.
