Trump says he has given approval to TikTok deal with Oracle and Walmart
Speaking to reporters as he left for a rally in North Carolina, the president said he had approved the deal “in concept.”

TikTok is on its way to getting a reprieve.
President Donald Trump on Saturday said he has given his “blessing” to a deal struck by TikTok, Walmart and Oracle that would avert a ban of the Chinese social media app.
Trump, speaking to reporters as he left for a rally in North Carolina, said he had approved the deal “in concept.”But he left open the door for a situation in which the deal would fall through.
“If they get it done that’s great, if they don’t, that’s OK, too,” he said.
TikTok, which is owned by the Beijing-based ByteDance, struck a deal with Oracle this week that would move the company’s headquarters to the U.S. and give Oracle oversight of its U.S. operations. ByteDance would retain majority ownership of the company, which would be called TikTok Global.
Walmart will also be involved in the deal, TikTok said in a statement. The company said it was pleased that the deal received Trump’s approval and said that it plans to hire 25,000 people in the U.S.
Monica Crowley, U.S. Treasury Department spokesperson, confirmed the president’s approval.
“The President has reviewed a deal among Oracle, Walmart, and TikTok Global to address the national security threat posed by TikTok’s operations,” she said in an emailed statement. “Oracle will be responsible for key technology and security responsibilities to protect all U.S. user data. Approval of the transaction is subject to a closing with Oracle and Walmart and necessary documentation and conditions to be approved by CFIUS.”
Oracle also confirmed the deal and said it will take a 12.5 percent stake in TikTok Global.“As a part of this agreement, TikTok will run on the Oracle Cloud and Oracle will become a minority investor in TikTok Global,” Oracle CEO Safra Catz said in a news release.
But that deal still needed the approval of Trump and of Chinese authorities. It now has Trump, but China could still scuttle the plan.
Trump’s statements come a day after the Department of Commerce said it would start blocking downloads of TikTok at midnight on Sunday. Commerce is also putting a more complete ban on WeChat, the Chinese messaging app.
After Trump’s comments on Saturday, Commerce said it was extending the deadline for the ban on TikTok downloads to Sept. 27.
TikTok has been the subject of U.S. government scrutiny for almost a year over concerns that the user data of Americans could be transferred to the Chinese government. Trump issued an executive order in early August that sought to prevent U.S. companies from doing business with TikTok and WeChat.
Pressure from Trump pushed TikTok to begin exploring deals with U.S. companies in a bid to avoid the executive order. The app has about 100 million users in the U.S.

Oracle’s first customer was the CIA.
And Larry Ellison is a Trump supporter.
Hopefully that means the CIA and other intel comms will closely watch Tik Tok now that it’s US owned.

While Tik Tok is still in Chinese hands, they will do their best to influence our election to have a Biden be win. $9,500 won’t have any influence on our election.
DEMS governors love the Chinese too. The Chinese hold “cultural’ exchanges with them to bypass D.C.. and do business deals.
Trump has been shutting down Confucius Institutes on college/ university campuses. They are nothing more than Communist propaganda institutes.

Our laws here are too lax on privacy. That needs to change through legislation, however it is better to have Tik Tok in U.S. hands and owned by U.S. companies rather then the Chinese. Congress needs to flip red to do that. With DEMS in control there is no hope of changing that.

I AM SURE that Trump and his people are keeping a very good close eye on TIK-TOK. And maybe Trump also has someone overseeing it all WITHIN that company. IF TRUMP IS WISE (not smart), THIS IS WHAT HE WILL DO WHEN IT ALL COMES TOGETHER.

DON’T BET ON IT. Both companies do business with CHINA. Think they will NOT spy on Americans and the world? If Wal-Mart could not buy Chinese products, it will go out of business and/or their prices would triple. ORACLE just goes along to get along with or without the Chinese, but I am thinking that they will do whatever they can to stay ahead even if it means violating the 1st Amendment. ORACLE is NOT a conservative company, contrary to what Americans may think.

There is no “giving” it to either Oracle or Walmart. Both make money and that isn’t a crime unless you have gone totally Marxist. I don’t object to capitalism.
Once the purchase goes through it will have nothing to do with China and will be based in the U.S.. The PURPOSE of this sale, is to REMOVE it from the Chinese.
It is the CHINESE that have been using it to spy on Americans. Spying is not what Oracle or Walmart do and both are U.S. based companies!
I’d prefer Oracle buy it out right. Oracle is good technology company and Larry Ellsion who founded and heads Oracle, heads it is a huge TRUMP SUPPORTER! Ellison is one of the few that quietly holds fundraisers for Trump.
Without exception, the only time you show up here is to deride Trump and be divisive as well as fact less. Most people here are not as ignorant as you are and not easily sold on your crap talk with Trump as the target. Yeah, I know, you claim to be a “Christian”.
