living, who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for the abolition of [slavery].’
Thomas Jefferson, another slave owner, but in his ROUGH DRAFT of the Declaration of Independence, a list of grievances against the king, said this “he has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating it’s most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere, or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither. this piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the CHRISTIAN king of Great Britain. determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce: and that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, & murdering the people upon whom he also obtruded them; thus paying off former crimes committed against the liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.” This had to be removed because two colonies, South Carolina and Georgia would not ratify otherwise. Funny how in the 1830 U.S. Census I found a number of “Free colored” who were – tah dah – slave owners. Dnesh D’Sousa points many out. They include Justus Angel, who owned 84 slaves, Mistress L. Horry, 84 slaves. The first slave owner was Anthony Johnson, in Virginia, who argued that an indentured servant should be permanently his. Johnson was from – tah dah – Angola, an African.
Teddy Roosevelt invited Booker T. Washington in 1901 as guest of honor at a White House Dinner. The nicest thing the Southern Democrat newspaper, the Memphis Scimitar, called Booker T. Washington was “a pullman car porter.” (Funny how FDR invited the 1936 Olympic team to the White House, EXCLUDING Jesse Owens.) Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Wasn’t it 6 weeks after Lincoln was elected that the South seceded? One final point, Washington and Jefferson would have been involved when the Northwest Ordinance of 1878 was passed bringing in a land size equal to the original 13 colonies and

David Horowitz makes this point in his The Hate America Project,
“Inspired by their commitment to equality and liberty, the American founders immediately began
dismantling the institution of slavery in the northern states, which were soon referred to as the
“Free States,” a process completed by 1804. So why didn’t they simply abolish slavery throughout
all the United States? An obvious, compelling reason was that they feared the catastrophe of a civil
war which eventually did kill more Americans than all of America’s other wars to the present day
combined. But there was an even worse prospect for them to consider. If the founders had
attempted to abolish slavery in the Slave South in 1787, the South would have joined forces with
the British – the greatest empire in the world, whose soldiers managed to burn the White House in
the War of 1812. Such an alliance would likely have defeated the free states of the North, and the
victorious South might have extended the reign of slavery for who knows how long. So they
sought to delay a bloodbath that might result in an extension of slavery, believing it was a
backward economic system that was bound to fall of its own weight.”
Oh, one last point, it was a Democrat that murdered Abraham Lincoln and General Sherman had set aside 40,000 acres for freed slaves. Andrew Johnson, a Democrat, who replaced Lincoln rescinded that order.
