Trump fires Tillerson, Pompeo in at State

52

This is very good. Tillerson was in the pocket of the failed Republican establishment that has resisted what President Trump has been trying to do. We need a drastic overhaul of our foreign policy. Trump knows it. It looks as if Pompeo is in line with the President’s thinking. But Tillerson wasn’t. This is a much-needed step in the right direction.

“Trump dramatically FIRES Rex Tillerson on Twitter without telling him personally – leaving secretary of state baffled at sudden replacement by CIA boss Mike Pompeo,” by David Martosko, Dailymail.com, March 13, 2018:

President Donald Trump fired his secretary of state on Tuesday without telling him personally, announcing on Twitter that he would dismiss Rex Tillerson and elevate the nation’s spymaster to the role of global diplomat-in-chief.

Story continues below advertisement

And he said he will appoint a woman to lead the CIA for the first time in history.

Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Steven Goldstein said in a statement that Tillerson ‘had every intention of staying.’

‘The Secretary did not speak to the President and is unaware of the reason, but he is grateful for the opportunity to serve,’ Goldstein added.

Despite the awkwardness of the moment for Tillerson, the president took the public spotlight for himself.

As he left the White House for a trip to California, Trump told reporters that he and Tillerson had been ‘talking about this for a long time’ but that he ‘made the decision by myself.’

‘We disagreed on things,’ Trump said, citing the Obama-era nuclear agreement with Iran.

‘I think Rex will be much happier now,’ he declared.

‘We were not really thinking the same. With Mike, Mike Pompeo, we have a very similar thought process. I think it’s going to go very well.’

He gushed that the future secretary as Mike Pompeo has ‘tremendous energy, tremendous intellect, we’re always on the same wavelength. The relationship has been very good.’

The president had tweeted earlier that Pompeo ‘will do a fantastic job!’

‘Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!’

Haspel was the CIA’s deputy director, a career officer who was a longtime clandestine officer.

In a statement, Trump said Pompeo ‘graduated first in his class at West Point, served with distinction in the U.S. Army, and graduated with Honors from Harvard Law School. He went on to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives with a proven record of working across the aisle.’

He called Haspel’s move to the CIA’s reins ‘a historic milestone.’

Trump also had words of praise for Tillerson: ‘A great deal has been accomplished over the last fourteen months, and I wish him and his family well,’ he said.

The president, however, had clashed with Tillerson over and over again in the past year, seeing him as a relic of the Republican establishment at a time when the nation needed more unconventional thinking….

McMasters will be going soon – my prediction.
Sessions should be replaced too.
Good move in getting rid of Tillerson. Tillerson knew he was going. Frankly I wish we’d stop the “woman” crap. I just want a competent person to head the CIA. Hire people on MERIT.

“And he said he will appoint a woman to lead the CIA for the first time in history”. Though I am totally against gender quotas or favouritism, ability is what counts. Some of the previous directors of the cia have been somewhat less than competent, or honest, they appear to have been political appointees rewarded for party service. Lets have a look at what the new director can do.

I was against Tillerson from a long time as he was doing what the swamp wanted. And he was supporting Iran deal that crooked Dems pushed through ?

Dems supported Iran nuke deal after getting paid by Iranian lobbyists https://tinyurl.com/mcake4d

Not one MSM covered it and nobody bats an eye . They sold out American/israeli interest for few 10,000’s dollars.

Same here since his considerable international biz experience was surely filled with questionable deals and relationships. The problem with State is that over the last 60 years it has evolved into our foreign lead, along with all the accompanying arrogance, instead of being primarily the tool of war that it is. Whether bullets are being fired or not, there is a perpetual conflict that must be addressed only to advance American interest and always enforced by the big stick of our military and economic power.

Indeed. Tillerson was a flaming internationalist: hint, his promotion of “green” energy while CEO of Exxon-Mobil., a corporation ostensibly into oil & gas exploration and development. Which one is E/M for, Rex?

Believe he was pro-Paris as well.

In this case Gina is reportedly unapologetic about her involvement with enhanced interrogation, which is a plus, but will be used against her and re-litigated endlessly by the media. Pam’s report about notice to Tillerson is incorrect..more recent info is that he was recalled from his African tour to either resign or be fired (personal conversations are irrelevant), which is before the British decision about the alleged Russian poisoning, which some left fake news claim affected this decision by Trump. I doubt she could be worse than the typical political appointee to something requiring professional experience.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I heard the news and just hoping it’s not just to hire a woman in that position for the first time, let the left worry about equality we need quality. And if she’s right for the job that’s fine with me. However I’m glad tillerson is gone I always felt he was the globalist type but I think Trump could have handled that firing a little differently and just quietly eased him on out the door, being fired via twitter is just humiliating and we already got enough enemies no sense in unnecessarily making any more. But anyway what’s done is done so on we go.

Was not aware of that problem. But it is not surprising.

Still, if that’s the case, why was he hired? He should have been weeded out from the candidates if he had a drinking problem.

Tillerson did a very commendable job, but the President is correct in ensuring that every member on his team is philosophically in sync with him.

I would disagree, however, with firing someone on Twitter. It’s the first shabby thing I think Trump’s done. It will demoralize the rest of his staff.

Don’t fall for that MSM crap that he was fired “on Twitter”! He knew that it was coming, and that twitter message was just an announcement to the public and fast. Why not to use contemporary technology if it is here? See: I do not try to find, for instance, your postal address and decipher your nickname in order to communicate to you my answer either.

Call me Old-Skool. but I was taught that, as far as relations with personnel are concerned, to either discipline or terminate employees quietly. There are many reasons it’s usually not advisable to humiliate someone in public. It’s a quick way to make an implacable and motivated enemy. Perhaps the media lied about this–it’s what they do—but I stand on the general principle.

I wish Tillerson was old school too.
In those days you didn’t call your boss a
“f-ing moron” or a “f-ing idiot”. Tillerson also KNEW this was coming. Trump spoke to him about it but didn’t offer him a termination date. The “surprise” was when it happened to T-REX.

What led me to this guess was the firing on Twitter. Not a usual procedure to put it mildly. You normally do something like this if the other person drove you up the wall with something—again.

I was part of a coaching staff that got fired after winning the district championship. Go figure. Anyway, they said the decision was made in November but they waited until Valentine’s to keep from ruining our Christmas. I guess breaking our hearts was preferable to our chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

Ego

You say the decision was made last November. Yet Tillerson seemed confident he’d stay on (all links from this year):
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-diplomacy-tillerson-trump/tillerson-says-will-stay-as-top-u-s-diplomat-through-2018-idUSKBN1EU22B
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/01/18/politics/syria-us-tillerson-walsh-intl/index.html
Nor was he a ‘lame duck,’ on the contrary:
https://www.newsmax.com/Politics/tillerson-iran/2018/01/05/id/835509/
So I still believe there was a ‘last straw that broke the camel’s back.’

Tillerson isn’t stupid. He knew exactly what he was doing by attempting to subvert President Trump on the Iran nuclear deal. He was arrogant enough to think he could work with our “European partners” to keep it alive while Trump wanted it amended more favorably to us or abandoned outright.

Any, and I mean any, employee who cannot see that with Trump it is a case of “my way or the highway” has had their sense of perception and self-importance clouded by arrogance and is unfit for Secretary of State.

Mike Pompeo: is also a heavy supporter of the NSA’s surveillance programs: “Congress should pass a law re-establishing collection of all metadata, and combining it with publicly available financial and lifestyle information into a comprehensive, searchable database. Legal and bureaucratic impediments to surveillance should be removed.”
Personally, I am leery of Pompeo.

Trump should also get rid of that “bald headed” fat eagle McMaster: LIST OF PEOPLE THAT WERE LOYAL TO TRUMP THAT FAT MCMASTER GOT RID OF: A Harvey has been a firm opponent of the Iran Deal. He’s not perfect on Islam, but he has emphasized the theological connection to Islamic terrorism. And he tried to halt the funding of Palestinian Authority terrorism.
3. Ezra Cohen-Watnick, one of President Trump’s top allies on the National Security Council and an Iran hawk, has been dismissed from his position, a White House official said on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Cohen-Watnick was brought on as senior director for intelligence on the NSC by former national security adviser Michael Flynn. In that role, Cohen-Watnick reportedly pushed for a tougher foreign policy stance on Iran. He was also a leading proponent of the theory that Obama holdovers have targeted Trump with strategic leaks of classified information. 31-year-old Cohen-Watnick was brought on as senior director for intelligence on the NSC by former national security adviser Michael Flynn. McMaster basically has this list and over the next two weeks he’s going to phase out” more senior officials loyal to Trump, said one administration insider intimately familiar with the upheaval occurring at the White House National Security Council. “They’re taking out people who were chosen to best implement the president’s policy that he articulated during the campaign.”
A source described the Trump administration’s Iran policy as “completely gutted” in the aftermath of these firings.
“These were people who fought for Trump’s election since he was nominated,” said one of the multiple sources in close contact with the NSC. “Many of these people were in Trump Tower during the period between the election and inauguration. These are people who gave up everything to support him against Hillary [Clinton], and these are the people being PURGED by MCMASTER.”
“This is not how you treat people who do that,” the source said

BRAVO POTUS!! Now please tell McMaster “You’re fired!” All the leftover ideological Obama swampsters need to be fired to end their ongoing sabotage of President Trump’s MAGA agenda. The Americans who elected President Trump reject Obama’s collectivist goals to weaken and transform America into a mediocre socialist state. We reject Obama’s political correctness, moral relativism, and historical revisionism, sanctuary cities, and open borders. The Americans who elected President Trump affirm American exceptionalism and our extraordinary freedoms beginning with freedom of speech. Firing Tillerson was a great start.
