Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) On the RISE: Islam in America

57

The gruesome practice of female genital mutilation is at record highs in America due to the influx of Muslim immigrants.

In this report, ABC News goes out of its way to cover for and scrub Islam from any connection with this misogynistic Islamic practice. “But experts say the ancient practice is not officially linked to religion in any way.” When they say that, you know it’s Islamic. Why mention even mention it if it is not linked to religion?

Authorities will never be able to address the problem adequately because they’re too busy going out their way to say that it is not Islamic in practice Female genital mutilation (FGM) or clitoridectomy is an Islamic tradition, rampant in the Muslim world. Dissemblers and deceivers claim that FGM is cultural phenomenon, not religious. FGM is an Islamic cultural phenomenon. FGM is found only within and adjacent to Muslim communities (source: Gerry Mackie, “Ending Footbinding and Infibulation: A Convention Account”,  American Sociological Review.)

But to speak out against Islamic FGM is “islamophobic.” The fact is that Muhammad justified it: “A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.” (Sunan Abu Dawud 41.5251). And the Muslims on this Facebook page cite his sanction.

There is also justification for the practice in Islamic law:

“Circumcision is obligatory (for every male and female) (by cutting off the piece of skin on the glans of the penis of the male, but circumcision of the female is by cutting out the bazr ‘clitoris’ [this is called khufaadh ‘female circumcision’]).” — ‘Umdat al-Salik e4.3, translated by Mark Durie, The Third Choice, p. 64

Over 96% of the women in Egypt have been clitoridectomized. Back in 2008, devout members of the Egyptian parliament have made female genital mutilation (circumcision) legal again in Egypt. With the advent of increased Muslim immigration, this has become a pressing issue here in America.

In 2015, ABC News interviewed Sarah, obscuring her face for privacy, and giving her a pseudonym.

“UNDERGROUND: American Woman Who Underwent Female Genital Mutilation Comes Forward to Help Others.” By Olivia Smith, ABC News, June 22, 2016:

“I remember feeling pain,” Sarah had told ABC News. “I was crying, so I was scared during it because it hurt.”

In 2016, the 33-year-old decided to reveal herself publicly on camera.

“It’s definitely scary to come out with my face on camera,” Mariya Taher told ABC News. “I don’t want to be judged for having undergone female genital cutting, or viewed as a victim.”

There are four types of FGC/M, according to the World Health Organization. They range in severity, from removing parts of a woman’s genitals to sealing closed the vaginal opening (also known as infibulation). According to the organization, side effects range from bleeding and infections to complications with childbirth and increased risk of death for newborns.

The origins of FGC/M are unclear. But experts say the ancient practice is not officially linked to religion in any way. It’s done for a variety of reasons, with supporters saying it carries on tradition, protects a woman’s honor and ensures she will stay a virgin until marriage. In some places a woman can’t get married unless she has undergone the procedure.

“This is something that is viewed as child abuse, and it’s something that is happening to a girl that doesn’t have the capacity yet to consent to it,” Taher said.

Olivia Smith/ABC News
Mariya Taher, 33, underwent female genital cutting/mutilation when she was 7 years old.

Taher lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is “trying to work to stop the practice of female genital cutting from continuing.”

As a child, Taher underwent what is called “vacation cutting,” which is the act of sending a child abroad to have FGC/M performed. Taher was visiting her relatives in Mumbai, India, with her family when her mother took her to have the procedure done.

“I remember being taken to an old-looking building and going up a flight of stairs and going into the apartment building,” Taher said. “I remember being put on the ground and my dress was pulled up, and I remember something sharp cut me.”

FGC/M is not just occurring abroad. This year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that the number of women and girls who may have undergone the procedure in the past, or may be at risk for undergoing the procedure in the future, more than tripled in the U.S. from 2000 to 2013. The agency found more than 500,000 women and girls in America may be at risk in their lifetime.

“[That is] three-fold higher than the last time we did a similar estimate in the ‘90s, and in fact, four-fold higher in girls under the age of 18,” said Dr. Thomas Clark, a medical epidemiologist within the CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health.

Officials from various organizations attribute the increase in the U.S. to a combination of factors: an influx of female immigrants who were cut in their homelands, American born females sent abroad for “vacation cutting” and others who undergo the procedure on American soil.

Olivia Smith/ABC News
Mariya Taher, 33, underwent female genital cutting/mutilation when she was 7 years old.

Performing FGC/M on U.S. soil has been illegal since 1996. A 2013 federal law banned sending children overseas for the procedure.

Taher said her sister underwent FGC/M on U.S. soil.

“I remember her crying. I didn’t see her until after she got it done. At that point I was still in the innocent area like, ‘This is something that happens to all of us, and now it’s happened to my sister,’” she told ABC News in 2015.

Shelby Quast, policy director of Equality Now, a legal advocacy organization that fights to protect and promote the human rights of women and girls around the world, said, “In terms of domestic policy [and awareness], there has been some work [done], but there’s still a long way to go.”

Quast said child protection services and U.S. educators need to learn how to recognize when girls are at risk of FGC/M.Olivia Smith/ABC News

The Massachusetts Female Genital Cutting Task Force is working on legislation at the state level to ban the practice.more +

As a social activist, Taher started an organization called Sahiyo, which works to empower communities to fight female genital cutting through education, collaboration and community engagement. She is also on the Massachusetts Female Genital Cutting Task Force, which is working on legislation at the state level to ban the practice.

“The importance of having a state law is that when something happens in the state, and there’s a crime that happens here, the state has a better ability to deal with it, to prosecute its residents to deal with the health, safety and welfare of its residents,” said Katie Cintolo, an attorney who is also on the task force.

“I wish I hadn’t undergone it, but I think because I did undergo it, I have this passion for gender violence issues that I’m able to be in a place where I can talk about it, I can do research on it…I have an insider’s perspective,” Taher said.

Until 1997, it was legal to mutilate the genitals of girls in the US. Popularizer of circumcision in the US, John Harvey Kellogg, also encouraged FGM. You might be surprised how many older American women were subjected to it.

Lmao what about “Male Genital Mutilation”. Why isn’t that a thing?… I’m talking about circumcision for you stupider ones- this article and what I’m talking about are both circumcision and one is “socially acceptable” in America, the other “isn’t”.

Male circumcision is socially acceptable in the United States because the United States is a Christian nation.

Actually, Christians are not supposed to circumcise, because Christ was the last blood sacrifice. However, it wasn’t because of religion that infant circumcision became popular in the US, anyhow. The signers of the Declaration of Independence were intact (not circumcised.) During the Victorian era, doctors like the very prudish John Harvey Kellogg though that masturbation caused a lot of ailments. Because the foreskin makes masturbation more fun, they reasoned that if they removed it, then boys would masturbate less.

American Christians masturbate less than non-Christian Americans because more Americans are Christians, circumcised or not, Alfred Kinsey’s influence or not.

Masturbation isn’t healthy for anyone, male or female. Most rape- murderers like Ted Bundy masturbated a lot. Kinsey masturbated a lot. Kinsey hated being raised up a Christian. In fact, Kinsey died by “erotic misadventure,” in a situation involving a beam in his attic, a rope and his scrotum.

The porn industry is basically for purposes of masturbation. The porn industry enables child sex trafficking and sex slavery. The money that goes into porn could feed the homeless in the US every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Muslims rape boys, girls and farm animals and they still masturbate a lot. Muslim women don’t mastubate as much as anyone else because of having their clitorises removed, their vaginal opening sewn up, leaving a small hole near the anus, which simulates a boy’s anus, and is used by Muslim males to enter the woman or girl from the rear. Muslims think sex with women for any reason other than procreation is abhorrent.

For Muslim adult males, sex with boys is preferred to sex with women. This explains why many Muslims prefer to die martyrs rather than go through life as a pervert, their consciencess having been written on their hearts by the Christian God.

@Mark_Trail: American Christians masturbate less? Citation, please!
You also said that masturbation is unhealthy (for which I ask for citations, please), but then you said, “Muslim women don’t mastubate as much as anyone else because of having their clitorises removed,” which is therefore an admission of health benefits of FGM.

Mark_Trail

Reply to  Linda Johnson

FGM is unhealthy. It’s not just removing the clitoris, but also sewing up the vaginal opening, leaving a small hole near the anus, therefore allowing adult males to simulate anal sex with boys, which Muslims consider superior to sex with women. Procreation is the only reason Muslim men have sex with women. FGM creates a vector for infection and is extremely unhealthy. When a Muslim woman or a girl gets pregnant, the vaginal opening is surgically cut open again for the delivery of the baby, then the opening is closed up again.

Masturbation is unhealthy. All sex addicts are addicted to masturbation. Serial sex killers like Ted Bundy admit they are addicted to masturbation and porn. Serial murder is unhealthy, and is the ultimate outcome among many other unhealthy outcomes from masturbation, such as laziness and lack of focus, adult-child sex, and may other deviant sexual behaviours.

You can’t be happy getting more of what you don’t need. Christians need to be happy by obeying the Gospel more than we need to masturbate. Simple logic. If The Gospel and the grace that flows from the Sacraments prevents Christians from masturbating, Christians masturbate less than secularists, who promote masturbation as a good and healthy thing. In other words, secularists are under a strong delusion, mentioned in the Bible.

Secularists are promoting all the unhealthy effects of masturbation. Christians resist the temptation to masturbate, which the Bible and the Church considers a mortal sin, for obvious reasons I detailed above (leading to mass serial sex murder). The Orlando mass murderer, for instance. You can’t have gay sex without mutual masturbation. Masturbation led to mass murder. He was probably also sexually molested as part of his cultural upbringing.

The Natural Law is written on every heart by the same One Who became flesh like us and gave Himself up to the Father in expiation for our sins. That’s the Gospel. Christians abhor hurting Jesus more by doing sins such as masturbation. Christians abhor any sin that hurts Jesus more. Muslims and secularists don’t abhor sexual uncleanness, they promote it.

Science is not the be-all and end-all of things. Theology is the Queen of the Sciences. Remove your aversion to good theology.

I do not promote masturbation or FGM. We live in a fallen world, but Jesus has given us all a way out of that existential trap. You should become Catholic or you will stay trapped and will die in your sins. Promoting sin is unhealthy for you and everyone else.

Theology is fairy tales and mythology. It is not science. I was reared Christian, but then I used my brain and became a rational thinker. I don’t mind Christians. A lot of the Christians whom I know are lovely people. However, supporting genital mutilation of baby boys while claiming to be a Christian is contrary to the New Testament. As for masturbation, you jack off several times a day, but you feel guilty about it when you do. Masturbation has most of the same health benefits that one receives from making love with a partner. Among the health benefits are lowered risk of prostate cancer, improved immunity, and improved mood. It is perfectly OK if you don’t want to masturbate (if you can manage not to, LOL LOL LOL), but do not deny that there ARE health benefits with it.

Actually, you’re wrong (again). The more one sins, the less guilt one feels until their conscience is seared. So, if I masturbated several times a day, I wouldn’t even be discussing the subject as a negative, but, like you, I would be trying to justify my unclean behavior by any lie I could think up.

@joe1429, OK, so you are a Catholic, circumcised idiot. It is highly unlikely there has ever been a circumcised Pope. The Catholic countries of Mexico, Spain, Italy, Ireland, and Poland do not have routine infant circumcision; the vast majority of men in those countries have their whole, natural bodies. In 1442, Pope Eugene IV issued a papal bull against circumcision.

“Routine infant circumcision” really got going in the US after WW2, when Jewish doctors and medical school professors pushed it in order that it would be more difficult to distinguish Jews from goyim, in response to the Holocaust. Doctors liked the extra income, as well. Back then, no one dared question a doctor, so the public went along with it. It was also a time in which childbirth was medicalized, and routine infant circumcision fit into that agenda. So, unless you are Jewish or Muslim, your being circumcised has nothing to do with being Catholic.

The sign of God’s covenant with the children of Abraham was circumcision of males, nothing about circumcision of females was mentioned in the Bible. Muslims say the Jews destroyed all evidence of Abraham being a Muslim and that Abraham was really a Muslim. If that’s true, then why didn’t Jews have female genital mutilation, only male circumcision, if Abraham was really a Muslim?

Millions of baby boys are subjected to genital mutilation every year in the US, but you defend that as being “for health,” or “parents’ rights.” Please stop thinking of this as a female- only issue, because it is not. This is a HUMAN RIGHTS issue, whether the child is female, male, or intersex.

Foreskin is highly specialized erogenous tissue that has 16 functions that benefit both men and their partners. To learn more, look up the website, “Sex As Nature Intended It.” Adults should not be hacking up children’s genitals, no matter whether the children are female, male, or intersex.

Furthermore, the risks of infant genital mutilation are more common than doctors will admit. Mothers have to continually manipulate their infants sons’ penises after circumcision in order to prevent adhesions, which are very common. When adhesions form, those have to be ripped loose. Meatal stenosis is very common and is found almost exclusively in circumcised boys and men. It can become life threatening; the son of one of my friends nearly died from it, and will need more surgeries. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel had two surgeries for his meatal stenosis. There are other risks too, which include deaths from infection or hemorrhage.

Don’t be fooled by the “medical” sounding term — when done to children and without valid medical necessity, circumcision IS genital mutilation. It does cause pain and suffering and it is totally unnecessary. The majority of the CIRCUMCISED men in the world are MUSLIM. Therefore, America’s cutting culture has more in common with underdeveloped Muslim countries than it has with modern, developed nations such as Germany, England, and Sweden, where routine infant circumcision is NOT done. (Most of the men of the world, about 80%, are intact with their whole, natural bodies.)

Satan is called “The Ape of God.” All strong delusions like secularism and Muhammadanism resemble the Coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Muslims didn’t appear on the scene until the 7th Century Anno Domini. Muhammad was a thug and a charlatan who mixed paganism, Judaism and Catholicism all together and invented “Islam” or “Submission.” Islam is a strong delusion, as is secularism. Both secularism and Islam promote sexual uncleanness, and they both, in their own way, promote the annihilation of nations, which was prophesied to happen by Our Lady of Fatima almost 100 years ago now if mankind didn’t resist their temptations to sin. Convert before it’s too late for you.

All children, regardless of gender, culture or parental religion, have a fundamental right to keep all their healthy, functional genitalia. Since an infant is incapable of religious beliefs, imposing an irreversible body alteration on him violates the freedom to choose his own religion as an adult. It differs from religious education, which can be changed. My body belongs to me!
