In a federally funded program, students will now be required to take Arabic. Mandatory Arabic? Your taxpayer dollars at work to advance Islamic culture. In addition to language, the grant provides "culture, government, art, traditions and history as part of the curriculum." Islamic supremacism on the march in the public square.

Steyn explained the real implications of an "Arabic school and the Arabic language" here in my interview with him.

"It shows how we mischaracterized, we willfully misunderstand Islam. Yes, on the face of it, yes, Arabic is a language. In a sense there would be no difference between opening a foreign language school — a Spanish language school or a french language school — but in fact Arabic is more than a language. It is explicated the language of Islam, so in that sense it is part of the Islamic religious imperial project. Radical Islam advances through the Arabic language. And you go all kinds of places that aren't in the Arab world now, like Pakistan, Indonesia, Central Asia, the Balkans, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Canada and the United States, and you will here those Imams preaching in Arabic. Arabic is not just another language like French or Italian, it is the spearhead of an ideological project that is deeply opposed to the United States.
Mandatory Arabic Classes Coming Coming To Mansfield CBS (hat tip lizlyn)
MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) – Some Students at Mansfield ISD schools could soon be learning Arabic as a required language. The school district wants students at select schools to take Arabic language and culture classes as part of a federally funded grant.
The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education.
As part of the five-year $1.3 million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School.
Parents at Cross Timbers say they were caught off-guard by the program, and were surprised the district only told them about it in a meeting Monday night between parents and Mansfield ISD Superintendent Bob Morrison.
The DOE has identified Arabic as a ‘language of the future.’ But parent Joseph Balson was frustrated by the past. “Why are we just now finding out about it?” asked Balson. “It’s them (Mansfield ISD) applying for the grant, getting it approved and them now saying they’ll go back and change it only when they were caught trying to implement this plan without parents knowing about it.”
Trisha Savage thinks it will offer a well-rounded education. “I think its a great opportunity that will open doors. We need to think globally and act locally.”
Mansfield ISD says in addition to language, the grant provides culture, government, art, traditions and history as part of the curriculum.
Some parents had concerns over religion. “The school doesn’t teach Christianity, so I don’t want them teaching Islam,” said parent Baron Kane. During Monday’s meeting Morrison stressed the curriculum would not be about religion, but about Arabic language and culture, similar to the Spanish curriculum already in place in the district.
Kheirieh Hannun was born in the Middle East but raised in the U.S. She believes giving students the option to learn Arabic will give her son and others like him the option to learn more about their culture. “It was surprising, but I think it’s okay, and it will help come down on the stereotype.” Hannun says she is hopeful the class could broaden the minds of not only students, but also parents.
The FLAP grant was awarded to only five school districts across the country, including Mansfield.

When my great-grandparents came to the USA in the 1800’s, THEIR culture became the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. My grandparents were not hyphenated Americans. They were AMERICANS. Period.
And if they came home and spoke something other than English, that was DISRESPECTFUL to the ELDERS who endured unbelievable hardship to be able to make it to the USA- their new HOME of CHOICE.

Who gives a flip about” their” culture?!! If it was such a great culture what are they doing here? They could have gone to Iran, or Egypt. Oh, they want freedom, riiiight! Freedom to impose their culture on the west, that is! They’re supposed to be adapting and adopting our culture – not the other way around! If anyone has any doubts that Obama is Muslim Brotherhood operative this should settle it for you. I have a doctor who practices right outside of Washington, DC. She has a friend who once worked undercover for the FBI. He is not retired. During his time with the FBI he infiltrated the Weather Underground. He said they had plans to infiltrate the Government at high places and destroy the country from within. He is afraid they may have succeeded. He was not sleeping the last time I spoke with her after the election. I have felt Obama is working for both the Muslim Brotherhood who is very prominent in Chicago and the Weather Underground. William Ayers and his terrorist wife were over in Egypt last year. Code Pink who is also tied to Obama are there now, or were as of a couple of weeks ago. I’ve let the FBI, CIA, Congress, The Supreme Court know this shortly after the election, and have voiced my concern since. I called Lieberman’s office a week or so ago, and they told me they aren’t into conspiracy theories. This came from the 14 year old who answered the phone. He has so much life experience you know. I’m being sarcastic, but I was told he has a college degree. This means he knows everything about life right? When will they get adults to answer these phones? Barack Hussein Obama is here to “Destroy her miserable house from within.” This is what Bin Laden a spawn of the Muslim Brotherhood and others have said. I feel like this is what happened when public schools made taking a language mandatory.
Why? Spanish, Italian, French, German, give me a break and you had to take it for three
years or so. This is the USA, the only language needed is English and very few people,
I am sure myself included have mastered the art. It’s been watered down, slang after slang
inserted and pretty much now, kids are texting to the point that they even say…lol..laugh out
loud. Give me a break. Where does this end? School districts need to be stopped dead in
their tracks, too many parents are sleeping behind the wheel of parenthood.
The liberal social system counts on sleeping, disinterested parents.
All I know is that if Americans don’t slow down enough, take a look around, appreciate,
get informed, get educated, Wake the heck up from their stooper, when they finally finish
rubbing the sleep from their eyes, they won’t recognize their own country.
Take back our public schools should be a committee started right away, by parents, not PTA
either and one last thing, be aware of the INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM coming to
a high school near you. It’s dangerous, it’s just what that woman Trisha said “Trisha Savage

Well I’m not too sure about the culture being taught but I approve of Arabic being taught at tax-payers expense. I assume learning a language is compulsory in America as – as far as I recall – it still is in the UK. Learning Arabic is far more useful than learning French or German. I think learning Arabic or/and Chinese should be the new placement languages. Learning to speak Arabic is very important during these times. Those who are aware of the history of Gitmo and the war in terror in general will know that in the first few years America was found to have almost no arabic translators and suffered because of this.
With increasing business being held in the middle east I think it also prudent to learn Arabic.
Remember all those videos that we are never shown where Islamist clerics call for violent jihad and outbreading in european countries etc? But are ignored by our media because they are not spoken in English? Would it not be a great thing to take this away from the enemy?

Ever heard of Rosetta Stone? If people are interested in learning a language, great.
Do so on your own time, it’s like having a hobby, and it should not be at the tax
payers expense this is just plain old fashioned waste! I don’t think learning a
language in public school should be mandatory at all, the only mandatory language
should be English and today there are so many illegals here in this country
speaking spanish that they have to equipt schools with ESL teachers. English as a
second language teachers. Really? At tax payers expense, another program because
the family unit doesn’t teach English speaking in the home, they don’t bother to
learn and don’t encourage it with their children. So our country provides teachers
who speak spanish to spanish speaking children to help them in class. It’s a sick
and twisted country these days, and right now the inmates really are running the
asylum.

I sure wish I was forced to learn Arabic. Fluent, conversational Arabic. I’d spend all my time now in mosques taking notes, especially of the Friday ‘sermons’.

The fact that they are making this mandatory has quite a feel of a broader victory for the Islamists. This is also a huge symbolic victory for them, in a number of ways. First, it opens the door for mandatory teaching at other schools and eventually nationwide. Second, few know that Hebrew was proposed as the official language by certain members of Congress during the Revolution. All of our major Universities required Bible studies, many have Hebrew words or phrases in their seal. Students had the option of delivering their commencement speeches in Hebrew, Latin, or Greek. Islamists wish to erase our history, and instead of having a choice of languages to learn, they will make theirs mandatory.

There are so few native born translators who know Arabic, that right now the U.S. Govt. hires those Arabic-English translators whose origin is the ME. They refuse to hire Israeli translators who know Arabic because that might offend the Muslims!
I think Arabic should be offered AS AN ELECTIVE starting in Junior High School, high school at the latest for the reason that we need more loyal native-born Arabic speaking translators. We need to be able to understand what they are saying and writing and translate it faithfully.
Back in 57, when Sputnik went up, the Govt. began hiring Russian-English translators to translate sci-tech. lit. from the Soviet Union. I studied Russian and after 2 years landed one of those jobs.
There’s no advantage in NOT knowing Arabic. The enemy will continue to speak and write it, and the more we know about what they think, the better. However, care must be taken when teaching it not to glamorize the culture and, of course, not to promote Islam.
I studied Russian for 4 years and never felt the slightest desire to go to Russia, marry a Russian or believe in Communism.

I’m with viking, above. Have actually, seriously considered learning Arabic to better “know my enemies.” Think about the advantages of eavesdropping, for example.

In our school district the kids are learning how to write Arabic and displayed their examples all around a poster of the Statue of Liberty. They couln’t use the twin towers because they were destroyed in a man-made disaster.

If I was a betting sort, I’d wager that Patterson, NJ is on its way to becoming one of those muslim “no-go” zones you sometimes read about that are popping up around Paris and in many places in Great Britain. While I no longer live in NJ, I understand Patterson is rapidly becoming a solidly muslim enclave. Just one of many that are forming around this country. But if arabic is to be on the menu, then let’s make a push to bring other ancient languages into the fold…latin, greek, hebrew for starters…and as I’m irish, and there’s clearly more to being irish than coffee and whiskey, I’d like to see a few schools offering gaelic…

It should be mandatory to learn a language in middle school and highschool but commanding which language that is should is not acceptable. That it is mandatory is unnaceptable. Is hebrew mandatory? NO!
If parents want their children to learn a language not taught by the school system what is stopping them from speaking it at home or making the child take a class outside of school?
If it is a language of the future, meaning the arab speaking world will be financially significant soon (HA!), they why didn’t they make spanish, chinese, russian, german or french mandatory? Their excuses don’t add up to 5 seconds of thought.
Is it even constitutional to force children to learn a specific language?
On the upside it will make a lot more translators available to work for the FBI, CIA, Army >:)

The point is not whether or it’s useful, but who’s doing the pushing. Clearly many Chinese dialects would be advantageous along with sanskrit and a few others but I don’t see them being offered. Let’s make it optional, not mandatory.

I feel so sad to think my female progeny will likely live a live of slavery and in a world where stonings and public beatings are just part of the landscape.

In Minnesota the schools receiving funding under this program have chosen to teach Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and German. Who in fact decided to pick Arabic for the Texas schools?
I can’t help thinking Spanish should be compulsory in addition to English, since we have become a bilingual society.

KTVT, Channel 11 in Dallas is a CBS Owned and Operated Station. They were gloating over the fact that children were going to be indoctrinated about Islam. Now that the Dallas public school district has backed down over public outrage over this garbage, CBS has scraped the story from the KTVT web page.

I agree with you. We do need to learn “their culture”, how dangerous they are! Not a religion of peace, a religion of “join our cult or we will kill you”! My opinion is, Kheirieh Hannun is a plant. They are everywhere! posing as “born there but, raised here” garbage! We need to take care of this issue, our voices need to be heard or they will take over the whole Country. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and I’ve been here since 1986. The first thing I learned was english. I didn’t come here to change it, but to embrace it, it became my culture. This is my Country, my children’s Country, our America, God’s Country. We need to protect our beautiful Country from these radicals. It starts with the language, then their fake religion, then we are going to be forced to dress like them? Without violence we can beat this, but we have to stand together.

Joe, Home School is the way. Even the private school will be forced to do this one day. Go to HSLDA.com and look up the requirements to home school in TX. I home school my children in NYS, but we are planning to move to CO, or TX, this article makes me angry. Parents need to take courage and fight this.
